If it works fine on a faster CPU, there's a good chance it needs a faster CPU, but it obviously depends on the game and on the settings you're using. A Ryzen 7600 or 13400F are probably both good enough for virtually all users.

Reddit says that disabling "core 0" for your game on the task manager reduces the overhead issue significantly. Somebody tried it with Elden Ring and it went from 45 to 60 FPS or something to that effect. You might want to give that a go.

as much as the driver overhead is a real issue for the B580, non of the fps figures here are particularly bad at all, I'd still say the B580 is the best budget option due to it even while CPU bottlenecked having more then playable 1080 FPS but also being more then capable of 1440p, something its rivals will struggle with due to their limited vram

Rdr2 have a weird stuttering that is known as ram dump stutter. That's when the game will randomly drop the fps by a huge margin for a second or so followed by a drop in ram usage by 200-500 mb. So those fps drops are not a problem with the hardware but the game itself. Luckily there's a way to fix it by changing a value in one of the config files of the game.

@@matgaw123 You know this makes zero sense. A card cannot be "optimised" for a resolution. It either has the power to do it or doesn't no in between. If a card gets less frames in a lower resolution than it does on a higher one, it means either something is architecturally wrong or its driver stack is terrible. A 4060 doesn't reduce its performance when you lower the resolution unless the CPU becomes the bottleneck because it has very little driver overhead.

They had done a bunch of rapid patching on Stalker 2 shortly after release. The game was pretty punishing to computers in general, but I'm pretty impressed at how well it did do with this combo. That might change once you get into Pripyat where there is mutants galore, but I can't say for sure. Still, that was a pretty solid showing for the new Arc.

Most people in comments (and reviewers) ignore the fact that this problem will just become bigger and bigger as future games will ask for more CPU power leaving less for overhead of the GPU drivers. So even if today this is not (generally) a big problem it will be in year or two. As many tend to keep GPU for at least two years (and majority upgrading in 3-5y interval) sooner need of CPU upgrade will probably erase any saving you gain with initial purchase of ARC.

Hardware Unboxed have already done benchmarks with the 3600 (and various other CPUs, such as the 5600) with the B580. The B580 suffers from significant bottlenecking even with the 5600 in many games, and it's a lot worse and more frequent with the 3600, which performs very similarly to the 5500. We can't assume the 5500 will be the same as the 3600 when paired with a B580, however, it's definitely a lot slower than the 5600, and I believe it has half the L2 cache capacity of both the 3600 and the 5600, so I would expect the B580 to perform quite poorly in a lot of games with the Ryzen 5500. I highly recommend NOT pairing that graphics card with that CPU. It would be fine as a temporary measure, as many games will still work reasonably well but probably around 10-25% slower, and a lot of games probably won't be significantly affected with the settings you use. You're just not going to be getting good value from your B580 with that CPU, or even with a 5600 probably. Conversely, the 6750 XT or 6700 XT just won't be significantly bottlenecked by a 5500 in the vast majority of games, and the RTX 4060 would also have very minimal issues with bottlenecking (but please don't consider the RTX 4060, the 8GB of vram is a major limiting factor, and not a good value for a graphics card in that price range). AMD and Nvidia will both be releasing new low-ish end graphics cards with 12GB of vram later this year, possibly as early as April or even March in the case of AMD.

It may be a bit disproportionately affected by low-end CPUs, but once you have something as recent and fast as the 12400, I think it checks the boxes it needs to check for a budget build. Though not having to go below High settings as often would honestly be appreciated, that's not nothing. Hitting 60FPS at nice settings in a couple more games also would be appreciated and isn't nothing. Slightly mixed bag, but a good showing for a second gen of an overall brand new product line. Willing to wait for more benchmarks and a few months for driver updates before setting my opinion of Battlemage in stone. So far I'm glad they're competing and targeting a lower price than either AMD or Nvidia, and that's just with their mid-range part! Fingers crossed their other cards this gen are worthwhile.

This is pretty much the pair I bought! Buuuut I made a small mistake when I prepared my build: I bought a Micro-ATX Case... so my Sparkle Titan couldn't even physically fit inside. I've submitted for a refund and I'll probably be trying to get one of the smaller B580s but the way things are looking right now it might be too late because they don't seem to be in stock freaking anywhere and I'm not spending *extra* money right before the tarrifs hit just because of the mistake.

It's almost like everybody overlooked the whole "This is a 1440p video card" announcement. I'm perfectly fine with them "fixing" the 1080p performance later, as it is definitely delivering on the 1440p performance already. That GPU utilization has got to be a driver issue at 1080p. I can't believe that the other "big" KZbinrs seem to have forgotten that this wasn't meant to be a budget 1080p card: it was *meant* to be a budget1440p card.

This card just has too many "worst-case" scenarios. And as a person said, "1440p card" never meant "1440p only" card. It meant that this card was capable of running at that resolution. The fact that people blame reviewers for testing a budget card at 1080p is ridiculous, especially considering that it's not even hitting 60 fps in many games at that resolution natively, and with upscaling you get into that driver overhead trouble you would encounter at 1080p (atleast with a somewhat budget CPU).

steer away as Rebar and PCI-E 4 is essential for Intel Arc. Which is why Ryzen AM4 in a lot of cases like pre 10th gen Intel really struggle with Arc cards it well know, like the 6500 is dead on PCI-E 3 because it only x4. Intel is know for needing the spec requirement which many of the slatting users have use are not listed as supported like a 9th gen intel of 6 years ago and 5500 which is a cut down 5600G APU with only PCI-E 3 support A520 don't support gen 4 PCI-E and that is the issue, it not over using the CPU it bandwidth issue of budget platforms like DDR4 board still in use. I now this as I have bandwidth issue on my I5s IGPU while on my little N100 I have less issue 6 P core on i5 but only 4 E-core on the N100 but the video playback runs better on the N100 because the LPDDR5 bandwidth is faster and the decoders love that.

If you ask pcie4 to pcie3 perf dif for b580the answer is yes. But that perf dif will only be like 5-10fps. What matter the most is, will it perform better than the old cards you want to upgrade? or not. It'll probably still perform better than rtx 3060 even on pcie3.

skip the new fence, keep old HW for comparison tests. C'mon man. Maybe keep one of each generation, like a half Noah or something. Jokes aside, I regret letting go of all of my old HW when i moved 5 years ago. I would give the money back if i could. Life isn't cheap and i respect that. Investing in your product is always a risk. I wonder if the problems they are seeing may be related to the bug mentioned by DannyzReviews in the video titled "This Drove Me INSANE! 😵‍ 9800X3D Stuttering & FPS DIPS Explained! (MSI Afterburner Power)" Basically with Afterburner and power monitoring he discovered 1% lows drop down through the floor. Turning off power monitoring made a large difference in the lows.

Ah I was curious since I have an Intel 12500 if that's a bottleneck since everyone was talking about the Ryzen 5600 but it seems like it would be since they're pretty equal. Would love to see a test on Linux though!

Must say if this gpu would have been out this last year i would have had a very good look at it. i ended buying a msi 3060 12gb paired with a ryzen 5600 and have been really happy with it. i have been looking at amd gpu as well. for the money a great budget card though. all the reviews are very postive. good video as per normal very intresting. 🙂

With my B580, running Steel Nomad I scored within a FPS with my 5800x3D and VIA C4650. My 5800X3D running at PCIe 3x8 scored just under 29 FPS, and my VIA C4650 running PCIe 2x4 scored 28 FPS. I found that to be extremely weird and interesting. Steel Nomad is not very CPU dependent.

Sounds like a chaching issue with the 3DV Cache propably due to bad driver optimisation

Hardware Canucks used i5-9600 that is not supported with B580. HUB went with old PCIe 3.0 AMD CPU and also showed that AMD CPU for B580 is not the best option. Also the B580 is directed to 1440p.

I am under the impression that parts of the GPU driver are CPU-bound, particularily in DX11, but also in Vulkan/DX12 to a lesser degree. Writing multithreaded HW-drivers is extremely difficult.

oh wow look at that. in cyberpunk and baldur gate 3 1080p high setting the vram usage dont even exceed 7gb vram. even spiderman remastered dont exceed 6gb vram on very high. so can i assume 8gb vram can hold on in 1080p for at least gta 6?
