@@SteveMirabelliwhat kinda primer and paint do u recommend
@SteveMirabelli5 ай бұрын
@Brandon_obs_ls I am not a professional painter but what I used here just to seal the metal was UPOL 2K primer. Only because it is black. Normally I prefer a NASONS 2K. Then slick sand polyester high build primer after the body work.

Either I'm getting better at understanding things or watched alot of your (well... all) content because this is exactly how I forsaw you building this. Nice work, as usual Steve. 👍

Always my first video to watch heading into weekend. That is looking killer. You did nail the overall visual with doors and the wider nose. Door movement and bracketry looks solid, repeatable and reliable. We use those relays all the time for sequencing movements on our molds.

Awesome work Steve! I bought an AMD air-grabber hood for my '73 Charger. I used a 4" stroke linear actuator to operate the scoop door. The actuator is strong enough to rip the arm right off of the fiberglass door if it is not adjusted perfect when it closes. I solved it by grinding a small slot in the arm and put a return spring on the door. The actuator stops pulling in the middle of the slot, and the spring puts closing pressure on the door against the gasket on the opening of the hood. You could devise something like that if yours tries to bend anything, or rattles.

Sounds like an excellent solution Steve.

Engineering 101 with Professor Mirabelli is always a joy to watch. Also, I was disappointed to hear last week we won't be seeing this project in final paint for some time. How much longer do you think we will be seeing this project in your shop?

I was wondering how you were going to actuate the headlight doors, mostly thinking about how the factory pop ups work on my Trans Am. I wasn't expecting your solution. Simple, just on the heavy side.

@SteveMirabelli5 ай бұрын
I don't know exactly. Not being correct from the vendor and having to practically build it from scratch made for an expensive adventure.
