It's a fair comment 😁. It's on the list, mind you saying that it actually came out of the showroom with the chrome on, it's actual metal too ! 😁. It's only been on the ''to do'' list for 17 years, I'll get to it eventually, I've been busy 😂

Like all of my other RR's....Ive scooped up a used spare compressor assy and rebuilt it as a spare. Oh....I like the chrome side grills (have a new set waiting to go on mine).

Having a spare compressor rebuilt and ready to go is a good plan ! I may see if I can do the same 😊

Very well done fixing that air compressor. The air suspension is a lovely thing, mine is absolutely on the fritz right now. It complains and says it is inactive. Very unhappy. Even so the car hasn't lowered down, so it isn't leaking. The air compressor seems fine. It's been like that for a month now. I'm just stuck in regular driving height. I think I have to invest in a tool to communicate with the car. I was thinking about either the Gap IID tool or the Allcomms mk3, since I have a 2004 L322. I see you recommend the Gap IID. You and many others. Can it do other things than read faults, like reprogram the body-control module or set up a new battery? It's big investment.

@tambarskelfir thank you 👍 I cant recommend the GAP IID tool enough if you have a Range Rover . On the downside it is very pricey but on the plus side it will do pretty much everything you can think of, in fact Ive never found anything that I have needed that it didn't do... yet.. It does also need to be VIN linked to your vehicle to unlock all its functionality. IMO a very worthwhile investment which will pay for itself pretty quickly. I wouldn’t be without out it with my Land Rover vehicles to be honest, it’s help save my skin and wallet many times over. Have a look at the GAP website where it will detail all its functionality.

I noticed you struggled a bit getting the piston to stay in place when installing it. I don’t know if X8R provides it in their kit but 4x4 Air Seals provide a small wood block to hold the piston from turning while tightening it during installation. A hercularian feat of strength for sure!

I've just replaced my compressor but I didn't dare wear a white hoodie whilst doing so.......

@Hagg3066 You do have to be confident in your own ability to pull off compressor repair in a white hoody, it's not for the faint of heart, I can even do an oil change in it 😁 Maybe with some more practice it’s something you can eventually achieve but for now it’s just something for you to aspire to 😊

I am doubtful it’s the air compressor more likely sensor or wiring you need a calibration

You may well be right, as the compressor is now good I’m working my way around the height sensors.

@ Disconnecting the battery at night will tell if there is a leak or not they do self-adjust overnight and if a fault is present they will drop to the bump stop and be slow to inflate etc
