Win. That much range is perfectly acceptable for the vast majority of use cases. Okay, bitter cold day towing something big into a strong headwind uphill all the way for hundreds of miles, there are trucks one would rather have. Add in superior charging network, and probably the Cybertruck gets you there about as fast as the Rivian on a long road trip and faster than the Ford.

Someone I know just took delivery 3 weeks ago. Flew into Houston for a meeting and dinner. He picked me up at 5:30, and we went for Sushi. The 35-minute drive was 7 minutes shorter than predicted because when people saw it in their mirrors, they parted ways to slow down and take pictures. It was like riding in an ambulance the way everyone moved over. So many cars with peoples faces are in wonder and surprise. People asked if it was a movie car. It was amusing, to say the least. My takeaway was, even though I am pretty aware of what tesla is doing, it surprises me how many people are truly unaware, as this one short commute to dinner and back demonstrated. Really nice riding truck. He has both the rivian and this one.

Twitter folks had to jump on Edmunds to make them acknowledge their false report by showing that they ran on All Terrain wheels, which have a lesser range of 318 miles and not 340 miles due to the higher rolling resistance. Edmunds clearly has an anti Tesla bias, and it takes a Twitter community notes slap on the face to keep them honest.

If you know you know. Would you do the same test with a gas powered vehicle? The CONSTANT "range anxiety" video barrage is total nonsense. Whether the video indicates a perfect range rating or not is irrelevant in my opinion because on a daily basis for the majority of drivers it's not something you think about. I own a 2020 Model Y I'm approaching 60k miles and I can tell you I've experienced range anxiety 0 times. You charge your vehicle at home overnight, you wake up and you go to work, you run your errands, you go wherever you want and you plug it in at the end of the day. IF you road trip or drive an unusually large number of miles on a particular day you utilize the supercharger network, they are everywhere and operate 24 hours a day. Perhaps the charging infrastructure for other brands would leave you high and dry, but in my opinion this battery range test/talk is beating a dead horse, just buy the damn Tesla and never look back!

Im guessing this mileage test was done at below highway speeds. Much of the online data from other youtubers going 60-65-70mph show a much reduced milage rating. In some cases only 240-260 mile range. I know an OTA update supposedly boosted some range in Cybertruck, but how to reconcile Edmunds data(~+60miles) with the other data out there?
@bartdeking11 ай бұрын
All the other data is misleading as they compare it to EPA but the EPA test is different than what they were doing in their tests. If you use a standard than you should adhere to that test procedures

Our test is designed to better emulate how people drive on a day-to-day basis, including both highway and city driving.
@bartdeking11 ай бұрын
@edmundscars your comment is correct but it is not within the specs of EPA as your temp was 60F where EPA specifies 68-86F which results to 35 mile extra range for the model-x so for the cybertruck this might even be higher.
@bartdeking11 ай бұрын
@edmundscars also, people do not give a crap about mixed consumption, 318 miles range is good for 98% of day to day driving as they might only drive 70 miles average a day and then plugin. Then users drive 60 - 70mph mostly and wonder when they would need to charge compared to other cars.
