i have played a bit of ADV OU and my most successful team was something stupid like 4 choice banders + starmie + magneton not that i ranked high with it, but it was hilarious because most people were like "well that thing was banded so this other thing probably isn't" and bam they got OHKO'd

Dragonite is much better as a defensive heal bell user while also being a legit threat / or you can just go special threat immediately, the two upside of this vs salamence is its much better movepool with things like thunderbolt, ice beam, fire blast, and its defensive utility with much, much better bulk and heal bell (seriously this thing can live forever with the right EVs, wish support, and heal bell) plus it also gets toxic and more importantly thunder wave, you can also use it as a paraspammer with twave and body slam Sorry I got carried away I really love this thing and I think it has a real usage beyond being a worse mence

Metagross can trade 1v1 vs Skarmory(if it doesnt go physically defensive), the other moves just doesnt do quite enough. Whats worse, losing your skarmory or your metagross? Both are very highly ranked.

You can design your team around taking advantage of no skarm so if it’s a good team sacrificing metagross is better

I disagree. I think dragonite has a niche of being slightly more bulky and having a better movepool. That being said, mence is better at everything except defense/utility and it's the reason that Dragonite can't run CB ever lol

It’s an event move in Gen 2, and they aren’t transferrable to Gen 3. And Dnite doesn’t get Espeed in Gen 4 until HGSS too

i think metagross is the best because sand immunity, insane defensive typing and great bulk make it actually have some longevity stuff like heracross and salamence (to a lesser extent) get worn down much easier

Choice band Snorlax is just 1000 lbs of C4. It's the opposite of Dugtrio : you sacrifice one Pokémon to create tempo. Though you're right about Gyarados, I think it should be ranked next above Flygon. It has Intimidate and is more tanky but lacks a bit in coverage and speed

no, even though he does literally use a choice band, he has a different role than these pokemon so i didn't count him. he's a trapper rather than a physical threat

But I think dugtrio being a trapper is 100% way too different from the other choice banders in ou Dugrtio trapping means that the counterplay to the choice band is completely different With other choice banders you can use protect to see what move they click and then switch to the right mon for the job Meanwhile dugtrio you can protect all you want, but you just won't be able to switch out and will guaranteed lose the trapped pokemon As such, dugrtio has a completely different role and different impact on the metagame

It's definitely not ideal, I usually have the most success with it in the lead slot as it needs a lot of team support and doesn't last long to sand and spikes. It is a lot of fun to blow up an unsuspecting skarmory though.
