I hate that narrative that Kobe deserved the MVP in 2006. Dirk did. He avg 26.6, 9 and 3 in 48/40/90 while being the leader in PER, WS, OWS, WS/48 and 1st seed in the west with 60 wins. I still dont understand how his name never comes up when this subject is discussed. That's so beyond me

Duncan's 03 MVP should be WAY higher on this list, not only was he the best players on the team, he was almost single handedly carrying the team on his back, parker was the number 2 on that team averaging just 13 ppg, not only that but Duncan carried the spurs to a ring that year, having Westbrook and Embiid higher on the list is a complete disrespect towards the 03 carryjob that TD made.
@aedaed3605
@aedaed3605 Жыл бұрын
Tony was so inconsistent they had to put Speedy in the game during crucial moments. Stephen Jackson was arguably the 2nd best player on that 2003 team. But that's saying a lot; Duncan haters make it out like he had a superteam, when it was anything but. SJax has been a misfit for most of his career. 2003 is easily Duncan's most disrespected year. Nobody else could have carried that team to 60 wins and a Finals win column. It was really such a godlike performance looking back on it now. Embiid can't hold a candle to Duncan.

the disrespect of Nash makes me wonder, were you following the NBA closely those years, or just retroactively looking at stats? If you were watching, then we fundamentally just have a different preference for what we value in basketball palyers. Nash' impact went far beyond the stat sheet. It was Jokic-esque but at the point guard position. Kobe was a phenomenal individual talent, and his numbers were insane, but he didn't have the same impact on winning games and elevating his teams.

Gotta be honest, I don’t have Embiid’s MVP higher than 20. Perkins basically won the MVP for him by making that “if you don’t vote for him, you’re racist” comment. Also there were plenty of other narratives that led to Embiid winning to just say that it was solely on KP and his nonsense. 1. “Embiid is an elite defender, he plays both ends so well!” 2. “Do we really wanna give 3 MVPs to a guy with no rings??” 3. “Look at Embiids PPG numbers!!” (Because there isn’t more to basketball than PPG OBVIOUSLY)

Kobe got his MVP for three main reasons: this version of Kobe is the closest to MJ in terms of understanding the game, he learned how to trust his teammates and something that people sometimes forgets about..... the lakers were the best team of the season, period. We forget that this award usually goes to the best player of the best team (or one of the best teams of the season). I agree though, Kobe deserve the 2006 MVP (81 points game but still the 8th seed in the west).

I’m with the other comments here, It’s a pretty casual opinion to think Kobe should have won the award in 2006. Kobe’s team was the seventh seed, and at this point in the nba, seeding was a very critical role in mvp voting. Dirk and Lebron were more realistically “robbed” of the award, but I actually think Nash deserved it if we look at the disparity in first place votes. The race wasn’t close.

Well Embiid team technically had more wins in a stronger conference. I leaned towards Jokic but at the end of the day they were pretty much equally deserving of the award. @@aaanawalehhe arguably should have been DPOY, this was his peak efficiency wise and defensively. He was good on ball and *unreal* offball. I argue Lebron at his peak might be the best offball defender ever because of his insane speed, iq to read lanes and opponents and size. There was some article ages ago describing miamis defense during lebrons tenure and how good it was, and a large part of why it was so difficult to replicate was because of how unique Lebron was and how integral he was to it.
