Yes I agree Revenge of the sith been always be number 1 as music theme in the movie and as movie itself. My personal favorite for years have been the theme where Anakin walks with his 501st legion to the jedi temple, when it just sounds so epic and you know where this is going towards, when his about to kill all the jedies and sith empire will rise after I think. This video ranking is preatty good, but I think all sequals movies should be last, because the movie story is copy from orginals and there is no new great music themes, because they did not put that much effort into it, when the story of the movies were also going to be shite. Atleast the prequals and even Phantom Menace offers some new great Star Wars themes we had not heard before in orginals, so thats why I think Phantom Menace themes are even better, than Star Wars sequals themes are.

They're both wrong, actually. "Binary Sunset," or whatever you want to call it, is actually (as I see it) the Hero's Journey Theme for ANH. Since ANH was originally just "Star Wars" and it was likely going to be a standalone movie, Williams needed a way to convey Luke's journey throughout the movie. If you think about it that way, the music makes so much more sense in the context of both the Binary Sunset scene and the Throne Room scene: the former represents Luke's longing for adventure and the unknown world, and the latter represents Luke's triumphant return to the known world. It even shows up in other pivotal points for the Hero's Journey, such as Obi-Wan's (the "mentor's") introduction and "the abyss" where every other ship has been destroyed in the trench run and there are more seconds before the Death Star blows ups the Rebel Base. I really don't understand why nobody else sees this.
@samuel030s4 жыл бұрын
I think it is the Force theme, not necessarily a “Hero’s Journey Theme”
@samuel030s4 жыл бұрын
Even if the movie was made to be standalone, the Force plays a role throughout the film. It plays when Obi Wan is introduced because he is a Force wielder, an agent of the Force. Much like “Vader’s Theme” is really the Imperial March, but is heard when Vader is on the screen because he is an agent of the Empire. One could argue that the Force theme could also play for Vader, but it could also be said that Vader’s allegiance to the Empire outweighs his use of the Force. As for why the Force theme plays during the trench run, that’s because Obi Wan speaks to Luke through the Force and because Luke uses the Force to help guide the proton torpedoes. The reason it plays during the binary sunset theme is because Luke is considering the consequences of leaving Tatooine, and the Force helps guide Luke down the path that will eventually restore balance to the Force (kind of). That said, I see how it could be thought of as a “Hero’s Journey Theme”, both ideas work.

Duel of the Fates "while Anakin is riding on his speeder on Tatooine just like how we meet Darth Maul" is completely missing the point. He's racing to save his mother, he's trying to save someone he loves despite being told to let go. What leads him to the Dark path in the end? The same exact thing. His mother warns him in TPM "You can't stop the change, anymore than you can stop the suns from setting" and what's happening in the background as he races to save her? The suns setting. Duel of the Fates is about Anakin losing his family, first his father figure Qui-Gon, then his mother Shmi, then his brother Obi-Wan. These losses shift the destiny of the entire galaxy forever. And directly leading up to each loss, a version of Duel of the Fates plays.
@Shizilol4 жыл бұрын
Duel of the Fates is about, Fates. Qui Gon Vs Maul was a Fate between Anakin’s fate. If Qui Gon beats Maul, light side wins, if Maul kills Qui Gon, Anakin will slowly drifts to the dark side. Across the Stars is such a wonderful theme. It perfectly tells the love story between Padme and Anakin, from their unlikely meeting to eventual betrayal and heartbreaking death. I love the swells and the more sinister bits are like the darkness creeping into their otherwise perfect romance. When we get to the ritardando near the end, it becomes musically clear that Padme is going to die of heartbreak. I just love how Williams managed to tell an entire love story over the course of one theme but damn it hits everytime for me.

Fun fact: The music for the duel between Maul and Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon is called Duel of the Fates because that battle was actually the point that defined the future of the galaxy. If Qui-Gon had lived, Anakin would not have fallen to the dark side because Qui-Gon was the best teacher Anakin could have gotten, and would have been able to help Anakin with his feelings. Almost no other moment in the entire prequel trilogy carries the same weight that that duel does, even if it isn't immediately apparent.

@adrianwagner82024 жыл бұрын
I find it annoying that many bash that romance, but don't see how poorly the one with Leia and Han aged. Han doesn't respect her boundaries, constantly berates her and the constant bickering isn't charming, it's a huge red flag for an unhealthy relationship. A lot of the time it isn't bad in a technical sense, but it's so insultingly low effort with how it's implemented, doesn't fit 80% of the time, and even more than any other movie, is so blatantly going "remember this piece from the older movies?? Clap and cheer plz" every 10 minutes or so, without anything new of substance, that I hate it It's not as flawed in how it's written in a vacuum like some other scores outside of Star Wars, but it's so pathetic in how it's used (likely the fault of the director, JJ Abrams) that it's possibly one of my least favorite soundtracks in any movie And that sucks to say cause I don't hate the sequels

I need to call attention to how amazing Grevious' theme is as a theme for a villain like him, he's this unfeeling machine but he still has the heart and mind of a great warrior, and the theme does an amazing job of blending the mechanical Droid army theme with this powerful feeling of honor and tribal militarism that just perfectly frames this terrifying cyborg warrior.

A couple points. One: I'm sad they missed the Trade Federation / Droid Army theme in Episode I, and how the Clone Army being revealed with that same music in Episode II was a clever way to tip off the audience that this isn't a good thing; is what the Senate's doing here (not THE Senate, the Galactic Senate) any better than what the Trade Federation did? Second: while there weren't many new themes in Episode III, we can all agree that General Grievous' theme makes for *a fine addition to the collection.*
@jamestrainor42934 жыл бұрын
Droid Invasion Theme is my favourite SW theme. Not many new themes in ROTS what are u on about. "Duel Of The Fates fits Yoda VS Sidious better because it's an actual duel of the fates" ...The original one was too. the _duel_ would decide what Anakin's _fate_ was. If Qui Gon actually killed Maul, Vader would've never happened since he'd still be around to train Anakin properly. And if Maul won, then Anakin wouldn't have Qui Gon as his master and he'd inevitably fall to the dark side. And of course, we know what happened with that.
@JainaSoloB3124 жыл бұрын
Also! Duel of the Fates "while Anakin is riding on his speeder on Tatooine just like how we meet Darth Maul" is completely missing the point. He's racing to save his mother, he's trying to save someone he loves despite being told to let go. What leads him to the Dark path in the end?The same exact thing.

Thankfully I think alot of us agree that Qui Gon v Maul was actually also the more important duel for the fate of the galaxy than Yoda v Sidious. I think Sidious talking about how "Vader will become more powerful than either of us" makes it explicit that at that stage the dark side had already won.

@@Major_Ursa The hints of Anakin vs Obi-Wan go back as far as the Empire Strikes Back. In the scene on Dagobah where Luke faces 'Vader' that music can be heard. The only theme I’m disappointed that they didn’t talk about was “Love Pledge and The Arena”. This theme takes great beats from across the stars, then immediately transitions to an ominous snap back to reality in the Geonotian arena. And when the droids get revealed to attack the Jedi, Oh my gosh. That is a bop. And the way the second half of the song gets used again in anakins March on the Jedi temple is so amazing. @ClassicalMusic20024 жыл бұрын
If I recall correctly, they actually had Williams compose the music BEFORE the movie was done. The poor man hadn't even seen the film he was writing the music for, so he pretty much tried to do a tribute to Star Wars music as opposed to writing music that could clash horribly with the scenes they were scored to.
