Actually, Azura DID predict correctly what was in the box--a red-petalled flower--but the old Dwemer priest used sleight of hand to trick the others in those in attendance to the feat that Azura was not all-powerful. At the end of the story, the old priest died, and the red-petalled flower fell out of his sleeve, letting the reader know that he was a trickster, and that Azura was right all along.

I personally have always ranked Sheogorath as my favorite because while he's so completely insane, can be so dangerous and unhinged, he's CLEVER. His power he had as Jyggalag never went away. Very late to the convo, but I agree with Sheo's cleverness. Many point out the crazy, LOL RANDOM XD shenanigans, and they are entertaining, but in nearly every story where he has a bet, or puzzle, or competition, he solves it in an extremely clever way. He displays that his madness comes from the calm, he doesn't need to make people crazy or defeat them himself; he simply allows them to beat themselves, and that belies a much smarter deity than just a madman. You can still see the logic of Jyggalag peeking through, just less obvious.

He hates the madness within, just as he hates the Sheogorath within. He comes up with conspiracies as to whats actually going on. Clearly he wasn't a loon from the start, the other Deadra had to get together and conspire against him and make him assume the form of the madman this is their plan people, wake up break the conditioning. My personal peryite defense: if peryite can be considered responsible for the knahaten flu and the thrassian plague than you can make the argument that he’s had far more of an impact on the mortal realm than most of the other daedric princes.... I also think clavicus vile doesn’t get enough love
@bloodocean8389 Жыл бұрын
I think Peryite by theory may be the strongest of Daedra because of how he maintains natural order and can make diseases that could wipe out the planet. I think he wants others to think he's the weakest so that other daedra won't be on to him.

I'd love to see Sanguine explored more, too. Though admittedly his sphere could be considered a little one-dimensional, I don't this takes away from the interest or potential. Like what if his influence in a future TES title took the form of some satirical, fourth-wall-breaking indulgence of creating a fictional story about the importance of an individual and their quest to save the world. Perhaps the player character even realizes through this story the importance of everybody making an effort is what will actually change the world? And then Sanguine in the end laughs and reveals that while we were indulging ourselves in this story, understanding the nature of our existence, we've really just wasted a bunch of time and the world has fallen completely to shit. Perhaps this madness is better left to the pros...

Sanguine: So, Hero. Did you slay the beast, save the artifact, and travel the land? Hero: >Yes, I did what you asked. Am I done? Sanguine: now that's just rude. I give you the chance to give all those poor farmers that the beast terrorized salvation and the power of the staff and see all these natural wonders, and you ask if you're DONE? Hero: >i have more important things to do. Sanguine: do you know? so you didn't have any fun at all? Hero: >what does that have to do with anything? Sanguine: well that's what matters isn't it? That you had fun? That's why you're here. You could've simply avoided me. Leave my quest as yet another note in your journal, but you didn't. Hero:>there were people to save. Sanguine: and what did you really do tho? Besides having fun, what did you change? Hero: >everyone can go on with their lives now. Sanguine: they are a bunch of traumatized children and starving peasants. All you did was kill a monster, after all. But hey, it was fun. Hero: > it is not about fun, you glorified dremora. Sanguine: ohh feisty. No. It was about the fun and you know it. Again, you didn't change anything. They will starve to death instead of being bludgeoned to death while you go off on another quest to save the world. But is it worth it when next century there will be another monster to slay? Another prince that wishes to enslave all? Another... Well. Another quest to save the world? Oh but no, you'll be there, won't you? You'll be there to be the HERO. The man who will go down in legend as he who saved all of Mundus. A myth, a demigod even. Great job. Hero: >i... I should leave. Sanguine: good idea. And don't worry about the staff, you can keep it. You've been such a great champion for me ao far, I'd love to see what you will do next. Make sure to leave some witnesses next time as well. This will make a great campfire story

Hermaous Mora is probably the most terrifying. Being the daedric prince of knowledge and fate everything and everyone seeking any kind of knowledge is serving his goals in someway. It doesn't matter if you know it or not he already knows your fate and if fate demands you serve him in some way all he needs to do is wait for you to come to him. Hermaous Mora manipulated both the Dragonborn and Miraak and seems to always win no matter what you do. You can't fight fate and thus Hermaous Mora will always get what he wants in the end. He doesn't care if you serve him willingly or not. He knows if you plan on betraying him because he already possesses that knowledge. He knew Miraak was going to try to betray him and planned ahead using the Dragonborn as a pawn. His eye even follows the camera meaning he isn't just interested in the dragonborn he is interested in you the player.

Here's an idea: do a video or podcast making up some custom pantheons/religious philosophies. Between the Aedra & Daedra and the different interpretations I think it could be also interesting to sort of incorporate that to some builds.

@scottphillips60054 жыл бұрын
Sheogorath isn't just "oh look I'm crazy." He's almost like ordered chaos - he's just as effective as I imagine Jyggalag would be. His madness just informs his objectives and methods. For example, during the course of the Mages Guild quest line in ESO, his entire goal is to mess over one single person - Shalidor. All of his actions are entirely calculated, the only thing mad about them is the methods he uses to achieve his goals (and often his goals themselves). In the Shivering Isles everything is does is purely calculated, but again, the madness is in how he arrives at the destination. In the stories of him beating the other princes, he's incredibly calculated, he just wins in ways no one could anticipate due to his madness. I feel like the Daedra screwed themselves by creating him, because at least they knew what they were getting with Jyggalag, whereas with Sheogorath they're still in for a beating, they just can't possibly predict how it will occur. I think there's still an aspect of Jyggalag's personality in Sheogorath. He's not purely random or crazy - when he sets his sights on a goal, he's incredibly meticulous, and arguably ordered, in how he gets there. His "focused crazy" really sets him apart from other similar characters.

I loved Sheogorath back in Oblivion. So glad he got his time in the spotlight in Skyrim.
@TheFlowerchild712 Жыл бұрын
I think the thing with Clavicus Vile is that he's a literalist. He gives people the literal definition of their wish. Like the father that wished to end his daughter's lycanthropy but was given a weapon to kill her. Technically the lycanthropy would be cured.
@generalpenultimo65022 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can see yggalag and sheogorath as different deities because they are essentially the same. This fact alone makes them so much more interesting then every other daedric prince, even if the Form of sheogorath wouldn't be so interesting in itself.
@plutoandpolaris2 жыл бұрын
I think the reason I love Sheogorath so much is because he’s so layered. You can enjoy the very basic surface level portrayal: he’s funny and unpredictable and Wes Johnson KILLS the voice acting. Then you start getting into the lore: his relationship with Jygalagg, his realm, his artifacts, which are all very interesting to learn about. But the thing that really draws me to him is how multifaceted he is. He’s the funny random cheese man, he’s the god who threatened to strangle you with your own entrails, he’s the patron of mental illness, he’s the manifestation of disorder and chaos, he’s the daedra who’s outsmarted the others many times. He’s unpredictable but clever, funny but malevolent. He’s ALL of these things at once. The games seem to put more emphasis on his easier to digest traits, which is fine, but MAN there’s so much more to him than that and that’s why I like him.

I always liked how the Daedric princes give the writers a chance to work in pretty much any kind of demon/evil spirit--Lovecraftian eldritch horror (Hermaeus Mora), Celtic nature/hunt spirits (Hircine), destroyer demons (Mehrunes Dagon), corrupting demons (Molag Bal and maybe Sanguine), jackass genies (Clavicus Vile), etc. etc.

I love the channel guys, you really get me through my 12 hour shifts. Since I never played morrowind or anything before, I never really experienced the good daedra being significant, in anything other then texts. As an active eso player, I'd actually say that Merida because of her involvement in the plain meld, and how she inserted a part of her realm into cold harbor. I'd also say that Nocturnal jumping up there in her involvement in the clockwork and summerset DLC. Nocturnal was nearly a step away from conquering all of the plains oblivion and mundus.

I think Molag Bal sits so high to me is because his quest in Skyrim scared the crap out of me the first time I played it. Molag just really creeped me out. He lessened a bit for me in ESO as his personality was just to goofy for me to bear. It helps that he is voiced by President Eden/Caligula/Alex DeLarge but not enough ;-D. Namira also ranks pretty high for me because I almost see her as a twisted mother figure. She loves her "children" and would do anything for them but also keep them where she wants them. Thanks to the khajiit the thought of her being the primordial darkness from which Lorkhan then started to build creation is also really interesting. I think they can do more with her as there are a lot there to expand, detail or even add.

Mehrunes Dagon is my favorite daedric prince, so I'm glad that he was in the top tier at least. His sphere is very appealing, change, revolution, energy, if he were an Aedra, he would probably be the God of Change and/or Defiance. The only issue is that it's change for the sake of it not for the betterment of something. That's why I felt like it was still within his sphere when I refused to kill Silus for him, that's the way it usually goes. The mortal obeys the daedric prince, well I *revolt* , it's time for *change* and that keeps things interesting. *As a side note:* I like the podcasts so far but the blurry background is unpleasant for my eyes. It would be cool if you could find another if possible. EDIT: Nvm, Mehrunes Dagon is number 1.

Malacath is by far my favourite of the princes. Certainly he’s not the most powerful, but he is one of the only daedra who genuinely cares about his followers instead of just using them. Also the patron deity of the outcasts of society really speaks to me as someone who has always been an outcast to society.

I love Hermaeus Mora not for the Lovecraftian style, though it is appreciated, but for how his sphere has become his obsession. It doesn’t matter the content of the knowledge, it just has to be something he doesn’t know. You could have a secret technique to holding in farts, and he will do everything he can to learn how to suppress his own. Not only that ridiculousness, but he may also have the answers to some of TES’ biggest mysteries.
