My question: When will we discuss the Ants from the Stump in Riverwood?
@realzachfluke14 жыл бұрын
I think about those ants every day, and every night. I see those ants in my dreams. They call to me, from their home stump, and ask me for my love. I try to forget about those ants, but resistance is futile. They have power over me, and they won’t let me forget it. They ask me to sacrifice a nest of termites every month, and they require my prayers to sustain their colony. “You’re schizophrenic” they say. “You’re delusional” they tell me. “Ants can’t communicate with you through your dreams” they scoff. “Stop it. Get some help” NBA legend Michael Jordan tells me. To them I say, you just don’t know. You don’t know, about the ants on the stump, in the village of Riverwood. They are real, and they hunger for our attention. If you don’t believe me, just wait. They’ll be coming for you next.

Just my 2 cents in the Tsaeci "devouring men" thing. Boethia was said to have "devoured or consumed" trinimac turning the elven god/champion to the daedric prince Malacath. Maybe the Tsaeci devouring men is simply them "assimilating" or corrupting the men to the point that the identity of men are no more?

In Dungeons and Dragons there is a species called the Yuan'ti, who were once men who through worship and strange rituals started turning themselves into snakes, but this transformation happens in stages, and so we have the Pureblood, those who are the least snakelike, and who can pass as humans, the Malisons, those who have truly become part snake, and the Abominations, those who look more like snakes with human features. So maybe the Tsaeci have a similar caste system where some look more or less like snakes than others?
@artifexdebello25684 жыл бұрын
Or the khajit
@TenositSergeich4 жыл бұрын
There's more to D&D than Forgotten Realms, and more to it system-wise than 5e. But, in yuan-ti culture, human-like Purebloods are the least caste, half-and-half Halfbloods (which 5e renamed into Malisons for some reason, muddling the connection) are in-between and almost-entirely-snake Abominations are in most cases the greatest caste. It depends on edition whether they actually advance in "ranks", but in most editions and settings they are only born into them and cannot advance. If we were to adapt it to the idea of shapechanger snake vampires Tsaesci are purported to be, it can be that Men of Akavir exist as an underclass, maybe with some Tsaesci blood, and the higher they go they are more Tsaesci and less Men, with their rulers being full-on snake vampires. Both Yuan-ti and Tsaesci wield potent magics (in Yuan-ti case, technically psychic powers), so it could be that Tsaesci transform into human-like form with magic or some innate ability.
@badluck56473 жыл бұрын
The Tsaesci ate all the men. This probably means they conquered and assimilated all the men on the continent. I imagine as the pure Tsaesci blood was deluded most of them lost their ability to transform into snakes.

@@TenositSergeich my theory was some where along those lines, but yeah that makes a lot of sense. Especially the way you describe the lesser and higher caste systems and forms of Tseasci as they are along their caste ladder. Lower half that slither around and balance on a large snake tail. Who can't wear human armour etc.

Re: the Ebonheart pact It doesn't bother me that the Argonians would be super soldiers that the Nords and Dunmer accepted help from, if you're crazy strong enough, I can see them just sort going "huh, OK I guess if they're on our side. I'd really rather not fight them for the time being." It doesn't bother me that the Argonians would rather fight back an invasion on foreign soil before they get too far. It doesn't bother me that living gods and terrifying warlords might be struggling with an invasion from another continent when they've honed in fight one another and specialize in countering each other's tactics. It bothers me that we literally never saw the extent of the threat to give the Argonians reason to be gathered. Every other time the Argonians came in and wrecked house, we have been given a scale. We can see why they'd attack for the years of enslavement. We saw the Oblivion gates. The lore behind the reasoning for the Ebonheart pact? It was just "trust us, it was a bad time." OK, and? There have been other bad times the Hist hasn't been bothered to send Argonians in for, what made this bad time special? Did the Hist see the invaders fleeing to Black Marsh if the Nords and Dunmer got their shit together? Did they show any special capacity to survive there and conquer? What was it? What was so special that they LEFT Black Marsh at all? If the level of threat to the Hist and the Argonians was great enough, they would help who ever get rid of it because the Hist doesn't care about bad blood nearly as much as surviving, but without that qualifier of what kind of threat it really would be, it feels off.

I think when the Snake Bois are said to have "eaten" Men and Dragons, I think it mean's a military defeat. People look to much into Snake and Vampire IMO. It's pretty clear they aren't afraid of, and are actually very good at war. The same term is used in the non literal sense today. For example, if you were to build a house in the Jungle and leave it, the jungle would eventually "eat" it. Take over, assimilate, make part of your own. I look at the Akaviri races as being like "alternate universe" forms of the Tamrielic races. Perhaps even they are just Tamrielic races without Elven influence. You have the Tsaeci. They could just be the natural evolution of Argonians without the Hist. Perhaps Argonians and Lamias (Lay-me-uhs) have a relationship of some sort. The Kamal could just be an evolution of the Atmorans. They could literally have been the other group of Atmorans from the Ysgramor-period Civil War. They could have further adapted to the cold and might just say in their own lands whenever winter hits. The Ka Po-Tun might be Khajiit that live under the third moon. Maybe most of them are like the "Mane" or maybe they are of different shapes to their Tamrielic kin, seeing as they would be born under the signs of a different moon (potentially under no moon, when theirs moves to join Masser and Secunda). As for the Tang Mo, who knows. They could be a unique race. Maybe they are like Bretons, but mixed with Sinistral Elves or something. I don't know, I just wanted the Left-Handed Elves to still exist. Those are just my thoughts. Anything could happen. Well, actually, none of them can be Sload because I hate those guys.

Pfft, ya'll wrong. The Nerevarine went to Akivir with Azura's Blessing to gather her "lost" children, the Ka Po'Tun and re-assert their dominance against the Tsaeci and to prevent a Tsaeci invasion into Tamriel. However, Akivir was split in two by the battle between the Nerevarine and the Ka Po'Tun Tiger-Dragon, from where they conceded a draw and to set their battle aside. The continental split actually removed the Tsaeci and Ka Po'Tun from direct conflict as both were now on two seperate continents. Time has now passed and the Elder Scrolls 6 is two, independent, Akiviri invasions upon Tamriel - from two different directions. One is the Tsaeci assault led by the would-be-and-lost-dragonborn trying to re-assert himself as the Emperor of Tamriel. The other is the assualt from the Ka Po'Tun, led by the Nerevarine riding atop the Tiger-Dragon. The player, as the Champion of Mehrunes Dagon - from the humble origins as a slave prisoner from the first wave of the invasions where both armies of Akivir are fighting, will start a revolution and save Tamriel from the twin-tongued invasion of Akivir and discover the blood of the Serpent-Tiger within him/herself to unlock the powers of the Beasts.

I wonder how Dragonborn mythology fits in with the Tsaesci. They say that only Dovahkiin can consume the soul of a dragon, truly killing it in the process, but then they also say that the Tsaesci ate dragons, and drove them to extinction. Could it be that they are somehow magically linked to the Dragonborn, or be Dragonborn themselves? Remember the storm they summoned? That may have been the result of the Cyclone Shout, "Ven Gaar Nos", or something similar. I also wonder if the Tsaesci may have not been lamia or Bosmer-esque form-shifters, but were-beasts. We already have wolves, bears, boars, and sharks, so weresnakes wouldn't be too far of a stretch. Not to mention the fact that they like to hunt and kill, something connected to Hircine, Prince of the Hunt. If they were such a thing, it might to them be part of their culture similar to the Companions, and would explain how they can have human forms.

I was just watching an EpicNate video about the Falmer and noticed that the architecture of the College of Winterhold looks extremely similar to the Falmer architecture in the Forgotten Vale. I don’t know if there is enough to talk about to make this into a full podcast episode, but I’d love to see you guys discuss this topic or even just a video about it if you can!
@gabrielsanchez97994 жыл бұрын
The college was made by the Mage shalidor from magic like he did with the labyrinthian but I would say that the architecture used for the college is different and more generic as a big courtyard with walls
@fishiefish61794 жыл бұрын
Oh really? Well I guess that makes some sense, but then why does it look so similar to snow elf architecture? Plus I haven’t been able to find anything online that says that Shalidor did build the college. What I did find was that he created the city of Winterhold with a single spell, but it nothing about whether that includes the college. It says he founded the college, but doesn’t specify whether he actually built/created the building itself.

Its incredibly likely that the Kamal were looking for the Eye of Magnus. In ESO we see a similar sphere called the Cat's Eye Prism in Elsweyr, which is described in its codex as a "Container". Which would explain the "Ordained Recepticle" phrase used. (You also have the funky Kinmune stuff going on with the eye as well)

I think they are born as serpents but can change at will because we see in Mysterious Akivir that a verdant land of Tesaci is suddenly thrown into disarray and drought. This could suggest advanced magickal powers and there by able to change their forms. It would make the most sense to why Septimia and Ionith suffered.

I believe the wheel part of the podcast is a reference to the Skyrim mod "The Wheels of Lull" it is a popular mod with a lot of downloads and focuses on some of these topics. I recommend anyone who hasn't tried it to do so. It is free to download on Nexus. Just don't expect an easy task. Most of the bosses have some type of method or puzzle to solve before you can damage them. It can be frustrating to bumble around some of the maze like areas...but the lore and locations are well written.

I'm really fond of the theory that Kamal are related, in some way, to frost giants and trolls. My personal theory is that perhaps the Kamal are from Atmora, a more eastern part of Atmora then the ancestors of the Nord's, and they went to Akavir. Perhaps the reason their called "demons" is due to them having horns like frost giants and some trolls do? That could be why their considered "Demons". If that's the case, I'd imagine they'd have little similarities to modern nord culture, but share a common ancestral homeland through Atmora.

The most plausible theory about the Tsaesci is that they're like the Mandalorians from Star Wars. Tsaesci was a race with a culture of its own, but eventually they conquered and assimilated - ate all the men - so much people that the race "Tsaesci" became a minority while the culture Tsaesci became hegemonic. "Tsaesci" is not a race, but a culture. You could probably have Snake Tsaesci, Men Tsaesci and even Cat Tsaesci. About the Kamal: They're probably like the mongols of TES. Ruthless conquerors that became "demons" on the tales of their enemies - in this case, EVERYONE - for sacking and destroying entire cities.

Note on the Akaviri kingdoms having names matching their races, the races are all beast folk(Except maybe the Kamal, who I imagine might be either like a Frost Giant, or a daedra of some sort?) and Argonians call their province Argonia. So really the Khajiit and the Sloads are the only known beast races with their own land that doesn't match their name. That I'm aware of.

Hmmm... What if the "Ordained Receptacle" is the Chim-el Adabal, the "Red Diamond" that is the focal piece of the Amulet of Kings? It is an actual soul gem, after all, making it a receptacle. And that it was given to Alessia by either Akatosh or Lorkhan specifically for the lighting of the Dragonfires makes it divinely ordained.

It seems every time we see the Tsaeci they are bipedal and look very much like humans. Is it not possible that the Tsaeci simply are a race of humans but due to their culture, fighting style, and features, are simply referred to as snake people? Or perhaps a misinterpretation of historical texts. What do you guys think?
@dadshirt66813 жыл бұрын
The spirit we see in eso pretty much shreds all doubt does it not? Clearly just a basic looking human figure. Obviously the shapeshifting stuff could explain that it was just taking that form idk

The idea that the Tsaesci assume the forms of races they eat makes so much sense of the sentence that they "ate all the Men of Akavir a long time ago, but still kind of look like them." I always interpreted that as that they look like them _despite_ having eaten them, but I guess instead it means that they look like them despite having eaten them _a long time ago._ In other words, the reason they look like them is because they ate them.

7:55 - I always figured that was metaphorical language. Like "they ate the men" essentially as "they replaced them." Like the area/empire where the men lived was destroyed completely by them and they took it over. In a similar vein to the Nords and the Falmer.
@OneOnOne11623 жыл бұрын
As for the physical form, I think it's pretty reasonable to think they don't actually look fully like snakes. All depictions we do have of them in the games show them as having two legs and their armour seems to imply that too. I kind of like the idea of them taking on subtle features for all of the creatures they feed on though. And I always imagined them having scales instead of skin.
