Welcome to an extra long episode with a lot of sailing! :) After checking out in Union Island and a last dinner on the beach in Chatham Bay we set sail towards Bonaire. It’s a 410 NM long passage which we calculate to take close to three days. The sailing is great, downwind with flat seas and a strong current making us doing great speed. Johan shows and explains how we use our whisker poles and do the set up. The sail is so fast that we arrive much earlier and make landfall in Bonaire in the evening two days laters. We’re back in these beautiful waters!
We are a Swedish family who have sailed the world since 2016 while sharing the adventures here on KZbin. Our boat and home is a Najad 440 from 1988. We post a new episode every Friday so make sure to subscribe and hit the bell to be the first to know when there is a new episode!

I've only seen that setup using a single pole, and then in a racing context when more crew is available to work the sheets and sails while the foredeck handles the pole and topping lift. Especially busy during a bearaway spinanker set...

Hi Guys, I don't know what the sails are called, because I'm not a sailor, but I've seen Delos use two whisker poles, but instead of a main sail out they hitch up the two front sails at the bow to both the whisker poles. They have the main sail furled in completely. it looks great and in the right weather conditions the boat is quite stable.

Thanks for posting and sharing. It was so nice to watch you sail all the way from where you began, to your destination. It felt like a kindness that you shared rather than leaving viewers hanging part way through the passage. My cousin and his wife have been to Bonaire several times to scuba dive. They like it because they say you can walk into the ocean and scuba. You do not have to take a boat out to reach very nice places.
