The reason the fat removal on the soup did not work is because you were trying to remove a non solid fat. This trick is good for removing animal fats from soups that contain meat. However it will not remove a fat that does not solidify when cold. Olive oil does not solidify and coconut oil is only a partially solid fat.

The soup hack will probably work for animal fats that get solid at room temperature (and really hard when cold) because the ice cools it just enough to solidify. So you could probably do it with a chicken, pork or beef stew made from naturally fatty meat. This test didn't work that well because the coconut oil only hardens when it's a lot colder, and olive oil is always liquid.

@maeprice87455 жыл бұрын
The bread one actually works.It's pretty common to do that where I'm from! Especially with small loafs of bread and crossaints. (So you can enjoy them longer than the day you bought them!) But you kind of overdid the dipping a bit. You only need to coat the top with little water. That's enough! And they did it wrong as well.. You shouldn't DIP it in water in general, just coat it. Try that next time, I swear the bread / crossaints / whatever taste so fresh again afterwards!

I have a bit of unsolicited advice. I think it might be helpful if you try to use exactly the same amount of things they do in the original videos. For example, they had a solid loaf of bread and dipped it quickly, where you had a broken piece and dipped it for much longer. They had a full bowl of sugar and lightly sprayed the paper towel, you had a very small amount and drowned the paper towel. Just a thought. I like seeing how you prepare your ingredients. Your videos are very entertaining, keep them coming. :)

The bread one works, BUT you don't bath the bread in water and you don't use a piece obviously you opened the bread to soak up the water. The grease one works, BUT you has to use grease not oil. Oils are liquid. The brown sugar works, BUT you used water to "make" it clump that not how it clumps up. If you really want to debunk hacks that's cool. Just stay true to them, some take awhile to test.
@INDIGO_diamond2 жыл бұрын
for the bread, l take a piece of toast (which is an open bread) and l pat some water on it generously, and it works! Rhap maybe soaked it for a bit longer and it needed to stay longer in the oven. for the grease one, l don't think it's that easy even with animal fat. first, your stock/soup should be in room temp or colder to work if it works anyway. oils do solidify like butter if you freeze them. a clumpy brown sugar is really hard to achieve in a few days, he tried to make and it was pretty close, but if you put sugar in the microwave it's gonna caramelize, that tip didn't make sense from the beginning
@minime73755 жыл бұрын

The soup hack won't ever work because you're using olive oil (which is unsaturated fat), and it doesn't get solid with ice, you'll need animal fat so it will get solid and stick to the spoon. EDIT: I wasn't sending hate, just wanted to let you know why it didn't work, I like your videos.
@Sandra-fi9sx5 жыл бұрын
The second one works! You normally have butter in your soup and that "freezes" just like in the video. Olive oil is a liquid even if you put it in the refridgeratir which means it doesn't work with the hack.

Raphael, the baguette hack really works. I have done it many times and it hasn't prevailed me. Except that one time when I soaked it for too long. And I think that it was the same problem when You did it. Plus, maybe the bread was too thick. I'm not sure. Also, I am doing this with pizza. You know when You don't finish a pizza and the next day it is a bit harder and the cheese does not look as delicios, and, of course, it does not stretch. But when You bring it over running water, like, for a second, just very quickly, the cheese melts wonderfully when You cook the pizza. It feels and looks, and tastes as if it was just made. I also do it with stale cinnamon buns. Basically it works with everything that is made from bread and has gone hard. Just don't oversoak it. One second unusually is enough. But it's alright, Raphael, You didn't know that anything like this was really possible. You live and learn. I liked Your video anyway.

the fat hack only would work with animal fat or saturated fats from vegetal origin such as coconut oil. Olive oil is liquid, and it is hard to solidify by cooling it. Most vegetable oils are unsaturated, which is what keeps them liquid at room temperature.

The art of cooking rice I've learn (I cook rice almost everyday.) 1. Wash it before you cook it. 2. The water level you put in is 1 finger joint higher than rice level for medium rice (I like to put less, for less mushy rice) 2.1 Sometimes the side of the pot have levels on them, put water have a cup less than they told (for example, 2 cup of rice and the water have to be halfway to the second line) 3. The bottom will be more mushy than the surface. I usually stir it tohether and cook it again for few minute. Sorry for being triggered over rice-cooking. In my defence, I'm Thai and rice is our main food lol.

It is so adorable to watch you fail at things. I mean it in the best way possible. I don't know about the others but the bread trick does work, I do it all the time. The problem that you had is that you soaked the bread way too much. All I do is to get my hands enough to massage and cover the whole surface of the bread with water, and just a bit more. Then proceed as you did in the oven, low heat works better. Sometimes the result is better than the original bread, I kid you not. The point is to have water vapor go through te bread so that the center is moist, but no wet as it happened to you. Even the experiment that you did was salvable if you put it in the oven for a bit longer. There may be an issue also, but I think it is unlikely, that the bread was not fit to the task.

The second one works with coconut oil because it's saturated fat and at room temperature it becomes solid, or solidish.
