I have known Alan for almost 30 years. This is a song he wrote and those pictures are his wife, daughters and parents. Alan had to stop touring because of a Neurological disorder that has taken a toll on his health. He is one of the most beautiful and sincere human beings I have ever known. I worked in both Rock and Country. This song is one I dance to with my wife on days when we spend time together alone. A beautiful song with a huge message about what is important in life. I saw your face when you reviewed this piece. That was true and raw emotion. You are an amazing man. Thank you for giving this Artist and song the credit it deserves. Alan stay well my friend.

Yes, Alan wrote the song - a love song to his wife. They got married young, struggled financially, raised their kids, are growing old together, facing some health issues.... It's his love letter to her and their life together. My favorite Alan Jackson song is a fun one - a collaboration with Jimmy Buffett called It's 5:00 Somewhere
@emerje06 ай бұрын
I love the guy, but working with Buffett was rather hypocritical of him. He's often critical of modern country music, even calling out Chris Stapleton of all people, but he's had his own non-traditional hits.
@AskMeHowItsTheGovernmentsFault6 ай бұрын
@emerje0 there's no hypocrisy there.... One can be critical of another's opinion on a topic and still have a creative relationship. We aren't 5, that is ridiculous

@@AskMeHowItsTheGovernmentsFault Then I suggest you tell that to the guy doing interviews saying real country music is dead despite having made non-traditional country music himself. Alan Jackson really hasn't quit music, but he was diagnosed over 10 years ago with Charcot- Marie- Tooth disease. It has a weird name, but it's a genetic neurological disorder that leads to nerve damage that can affect your feet, legs, arms and hands. There is no cure for it, but can somewhat be managed with braces for your legs and possible pain pills for nerve pain. The progression of the disease has made it too difficult for him to tour, although he said he still comes up with new song ideas from time to time.
@Trey_Alexander5 ай бұрын
This is correct. I have a cousin to this disease called hereditary spastic paraplegia. No cure and it’s tough to deal with but I count my blessings everyday. He has become one of my favorite artists partly because of this. Great singer/songwriter.

It’s even sadder now because Alan has a disease. He has trouble standing. He is such a wonderful human being and singer/songwriter. I have loved him since his first song was released. He is a true gentleman. Tragedy has struck him a few times. He and his family watched as one of his daughter’s husband being newly married, lost his balance in a boat and hit his head killing him. Alan was and still is very distraught over it. With this disease he will degrade physically as each day passes. Please listen to more of his music. He has made tons of wonderful music. Take a listen to the song he wrote about September 11th. After hearing what happened while on his bus while touring he wrote the song. “ where were you when the world stopped turning”

Yes, that is his wife, he was 20 when they married and they've been together for 45 years now! He stopped performing because of neuropathy (the loss of muscle and nerve sensation/touch) in different areas of the body (typically the feet but also hands). He said on the Today Show "...it's been affecting me for years. And it's getting more and more obvious. And I know I'm stumbling around on stage. And now I'm having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable." My dad has neuropathy, no feeling in both feet at all, but he refuses to let it slow him down. He's 68 and only now starting to cut back from his full time hours doing maintenance at a nursing home. He has to be careful, he recently went on vacation and did a lot of walking, only to come back to the hotel and find massive blisters on both feet.

I ❤your reactions because of the wisdom I see blooming in you, and what a blessing it is for you to be sharing it with others. You were blessed with parents who gave you a great foundation, that you are now building upon and now giving your girls their foundation. Simply beautiful ❤️

You are doing a great service to men by opening up and expressing your feelings. This will encourage some guy out there to do the same. 🙏

Alan Jackson pretty much wrote his entire catalog, one of Country’s most prolific singer songwriters to ever pass through Nashville

I'm 58, kids moved out, relocating due to work and having my wife of 31 yrs with me on this journey , we often go down memory lane and say to each other "remember when". This song is so emotional and beautiful.

First, Thank you for your service. I have been with my husband.for 34 years, yes, he was my first. I love this song, it's real life; sometimes it's good, sometimes not. But through it all, we're still together. That's life. ❤

Great reaction my friend. This song is an anthem that celebrates the perseverance and endurance that it takes to have a long and successful marriage. I've been married 33 years. The road is not been easy. We've gone through some really hard times and times where we both thought we should leave or that the other one was going to. But because we both stuck it out and had at least enough trust that the other one was willing to continue to fight for a good marriage we ended up knowing a love deeper and stronger than we ever could imagine. It's hard to say where that line is when someone should leave a relationship especially when one person isn't willing to do anymore or to fight for the relationship. I hope that you and your wife have a marriage with enough Downs that you are able to experience a love that you never knew was possible. And I hope that your eyes continue to grow and grow and grow with you as you watch your children grow and grow into young beautiful ladies.

Whenever Alan Jackson's wife gets mad at him, he cues this up on the stereo. Ultimate get out of jail card. Genius.

I grew up on these particular kind of country music with this kind of messaging and in so grateful for it. HOWEVER... I haven't heard this song since I became a mother 4 years ago. I will have been married to my awesome husband for 10 years this March. I'm 37 now. THIS SONG HITS SO MUCH HARDER NOW AND I WAS NOT PREPARED TO CRY!
