You are so wrong my friend! This song is about his battle with addiction. He's been clean and sober for many years and has helped many other musicians with their own battle, including Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. His real name is Vincent Furnier and he grew up in Detroit. He's the son of a pastor and he himself is a devout Christian and married since 1976. He's approaching 80 (76) and still on tour with his latest record Detroit Stories. His career spans over 60 years and has sold over 50+ million albums. He's a great golfer and a champion knife thrower who won many events. He's regarded as one of the earliest Shock Rocker that included costumes, elaborate stage shows that incorporated horror theme and monsters on the stage. He also speaks many languages and a philanthropist. He his unique and a genuine good guy.

listened to Alice since the early '70s.... In the fall of 1990 i was in the military and got on a flight from Nagasaki to LAX - there was a huge commotion at the terminal, couldn't see what was going on, then Alice, his wife Sheryl and his kids came walking through the crowd and boarded the 747 going back to the States after touring - since i was in transit, I was in full uniform. About an hour and a half into the flight, Alice came down the stairwell and was just strolling around when he stopped and asked if he could buy me a drink..... Alice Cooper bought me a Jack and Coke and we sat and talked about the War and some other trivial things for about 2 hours, I remember after we parted, thinking - Wow, what a down to earth and incredibly nice guy, still have the plane ticket - and is the only STAR I've ever had any interaction with.... just remembered - this was when smoking was still allowed on airplanes....

The band was originally called Alice Cooper. When they broke up he legally changed his name to Alice Cooper to retain rights to his music. He's been married to his wife for over 40 years. She danced in his concerts which are theater productions. Now their daughter places that role. The song is actually about addiction, primarily alcohol. He is a recovering alcoholic. "I want to love you but I better not touch." "I wanna kiss you but your lips are venomous poison."

Listen to Lace and Whiskey and tell me that Alice/Vincent Fournier wasn't experimenting. Yes I know he was shock rock but there is a lot of experimentation mixed in the middle songs of his albums. Or it could be that Lace and Whiskey is my favorite album and I'm judging on that. Been a fan ever since I saw him on Johnny Carson in the early 70s. I also enjoy the Kane Roberts era. I'm also loving Nita Strauss. She brings in her classical influences as well. I remember Nita telling me how excited she was to audition for Alice. And then she nailed it. Good for her. Sidebar. When Jim Morrison of The Doors wrote lyrics saying "I woke up this morn'in an' got myself a beer" he was actually quoting Alice Cooper. Jim had seen an TV interview where Alice Cooper was the guest on an early morning 'Breakfast Show'. Alice was seriously drunk during that early morning interview and was asked about being so lit at that early hour. He answered: "I woke up this morn'in an' got myself a beer". Morrison made the line famous. After being continuously drunk for years, Alice ended up giving up alcohol completely and has been sober for decades. When touring he now plays golf instead of partying.
@sumonjamal16536 ай бұрын
Alice Cooper is the first 'shock rocker' - he came up in Detroit and rose to fame in the early 70's as his band became famous for macabre themes and theatrical visuals... He was born Vince Furnier and his dad was Church pastor; he married his wife Sheryl, who was the daughter of a Church pastor and a ballet dancer who performed in his concerts in 1975... They are both devout Christians today, still married and grandparents now... Alice Cooper is 76 yrs of age and still performs, tours and records new music. He also recently formed the band Hollywood Vampires feat. actor Johnny Depp on guitar and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. Vince Furnier formed a band in high school in the 60's w/ classmates... originally, they would perform Beatles songs as The Spiders... They changed their name to The Knazz... but in 1968, Furnier came up w/ the band name Alice Cooper - it sounded demented and misleading (the band was 5 guys, so who was Alice?) The band performed in L.A. as Alice Cooper and he would put on black eyeliner and assume a villain character onstage who looked deranged like his makeup was running... It freaked audiences out and they would be playing to empty rooms because they all left! After a while, people kept calling Furnier 'Alice'... so, after a while, he decided to legally change his name to Alice Cooper. The character he created onstage was drawn from cartoons and movies that he was a fan of. It was in 1970 when the Alice Cooper band met manager Shep Gordon (who still manages him) and producer Bob Ezrin (who went on to work w/ Kiss, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, etc) and they decided to "re-shape" Alice Cooper... One song they wrote stood out - "I'm Eighteen"... They recorded it and released it as a single and it was a hit in 1970... they released a full album 'Love it to death' in 1971 and it sold platinum... Alice Cooper would shock & enthrall concert audiences w/ stage props like a guillotine, a live snake, an electric chair, baby dolls, etc... and scored more platinum records like 'Killer' (1971)... "School's out" (1972)... 'Billion dollar babies' (1973)... But tensions led to the original Alice Cooper band breaking up by 1974. Alice Cooper went solo in 1975 w/ the album 'Welcome to my nightmare'... which he promoted w/ an elaborate stage show and dance routines. It became a platinum hit... However, Alice Cooper's career would decline by late 70's/ early 80's as his alcoholism became a problem and nearly cost him his life and his marriage. He got sober and took time off to recover and reconcile w/ his wife Sheryl and family. In 1986, Alice Cooper returned w/ a heavy metal sound and he was finally clean & sober for the first time in decades... He still needed a hit record and that came in 1989 when the album 'Trash' became a hit w/ the single 'Poison'... as well as the other singles - 'Bed of nails'... 'House of fire'... Alice Cooper appeared as himself in the 1992 movie "Wayne's world" performing the 1991 single 'Feed my Frankenstein' ... His '91 album 'Hey Stoopid' had an anti-drug and anti-addiction message on the title track. In 2000, Alice Cooper delivered the album 'Brutal Planet' w/ a modern, futuristic sound and he got another career comeback... He never stopped recording and touring... he released a sequel album 'Welcome 2 my nightmare' in 2011 (which had Ke$ha as a guest on the record) His latest album 'Road' was released in 2023. Alice Cooper's other notable songs - "School's out" ... 'Welcome to my nightmare' ... 'Freedom' ... 'Lost in America' ... "Love's a loaded gun" ... 'Gimme' ... 🤘🤘

He's been playing the part of Alice for many years, but in real life he's a really nice religious guy that's been married to his wife forever and likes playing Gulf!

I saw him in Nashville a few years ago. FANTASTIC🎉. I don't remember when this came out, but I remember my youngest who is going to be 31 next month, used to rock this cd all the time in the car.

I met Alice when I lived in Scottsdale in the late 90's. We were both at the walgreens pharmacy. Guy was way cool. He took a few minutes to chat with me. I'm a musician and we both knew some of the same people in the local music scene.

Ps most of these songs have an official video for them

I saw his "Welcome to my Nightmare" tour back in the day - what a fabulous stage set. More recently, he started a supergroup with Johnny Depp and Joe Perry to honor musicians who died from drugs and/or alcohol. Their self-titled "Hollywood Vampires" album is fire.

Finally got to see him preform last year. Been listening to him since the 90s. Took my autistic son to see him. For his first concert and he absolutely loved it. A good show.

Alice is one of the good guys of rock and roll. He's been a friend and mentor to lots of talented musicians who later became successful, his business dealings are honorable, and he supports a variety of worthwhile charities. Interesting to me: his best friend was legendary country performer Glen Campbell - the 'Rhinestone Cowboy.'

Alice has been putting out music since the late 60's. Alice Cooper was a band at first from 1969-1974 but Alice went solo in 1975 and has never stopped releasing music. He's definitely an Icon

I got to talk with Alice Cooper for a few minutes at a convention. He never calls himself a singer, but an entertainer/performer. He wants people to experience and relate with his music and stage performances.

With the school year coming to an end, you need to do Alice Cooper's signature song, and biggest hit: "School's Out"

Alice Cooper “Vincent Damon Furnier” was born February 4, 1948 Detroit MI and they moved to Phoenix Arizona in 1964 where he went to Cortez High School he still resides in Phoenx. He actually had a restaurant called Cooperstown in downtown Phoenix but sadly closed in 2016. He is an avid golfer and a Christian. He has been married to his wife Sheryl Goddard since 1976 and they have 3 children. He is the most down to earth guy. He would be at his restaurant when it was open and walk around and ask how the service and food was. And this song was released in 2005 and it’s about his addiction to drugs and alcohol. And he was able to overcome his addiction. He comes out in commercials here in Phoenix. He generally a nice person 😊

My friend with whom I've performed used to be one of Alice Cooper's backup singers, the "beautiful woman" he's singing about was his (defeated) drug addiction. This song is from the 80s.

In 1989 this was Alice Cooper's successful attempt at a commercial radio hit song. And indeed it was, _Poison_ was his first Top 10 single since 1977.
@melc71976 ай бұрын
My sister and I were obsessed with this song when we were kids. Alice Cooper was our first concert, at the tender age of 6 and 12! And Poison was literally the only song we knew. We had no idea what we were in for! Guy puts on a SHOW and it gets dark! At one point they wheeled in a guillotine, pretended to kill Cooper with it, then held up his decapitated head to the audience... Probably should have scarred us for life, but we had an absolute ball 😂

Alice Copper lived an interesting life, his father was an evangelist, his wife a professional dance of some sort, battle alcoholism in the 70's and has been a born-again Christian for a while now.

Love to rock this song, and love the final shot with the poison in his hand.

1989. Alice’s first album dropped in ‘67 if I’m not mistaken. Frank Zappa signed him and the band. Breakout album was Love it to Death in 71. So many classics to react to. And the nicest dude in rock.
@calseeor6 ай бұрын
LOL! Your comparison to "get an ugly woman to be your wife", killed me dude. I never thought about it that way, but the comparison is dead on. Alice Cooper is theatric rock. His shows are epic with all kinds of props and stuff. Loads of fun. I think you'd love seeing him live, he still kills it to this day and he's been going since the 70's.

I was a photographer on a leg of The Nightmare Returns tour as I was friends with his PA Brian. Such a sweet man. I adore him to bits. Check out Solid Rock, the center he’s run for years for the city youth to learn music and other skills. He’s phenomenal. If you want to see an interesting journey, listen to the album “From the Inside”. It’s wild.

This song was released 35 years ago. I met the man twice in the late 80's and he looked old AF. But I was like 21 and my perception at the time might have been altered by my young age. I know he's still touring, he might be nearer to 80 than 70 now...
