I'm sure someone has already told this story, but Ill do it again. This song was written by Nikki Sixx, the bass player. The inspiration was from an "incident" he had while out partying one night. Seem he "overdid" (or another word that starts with over but would get flagged) it a bit and had to go home in an Ambulance. While on the ride to the hospital his heart stopped. One of the paramedics grabbed an adrenaline shot and jabbed it into his chest to..... restart his heart". Unfortunately it did not work. He was a HUGE Motley Crue fan and told the other paramedic that "This is Nikki fukkin Sixx and there is no way he's going to die on my watch!" go he grabbed a second adrenaline shot and jabbed it into his chest and that did the trick and "Kickstarted Nikki's Heart!" At least that was Nikki's story anyways. Some say, like Guns and Roses drummer Steven Adler that they had restarted Nikki's heart before the paramedics arrived. Good story none the less.

I'll say it, he didn't overdo it. He overdosed on heroin! Vince and him are both lucky to be alive. Vince wrecked his vette while drunk, and his passenger was killed. Can't believe he didn't do time. But if you have enough money, the rule of law doesn't apply to you.

Not sure if you caught it but Mick Mars (being the guitar genius he is) used what's known as a Talk Box for that last part. Which is basically a pedal with a tube you speak into to control the pitch of the notes being played through your guitar into the microphone. Making it sound like your guitar is actually talking! When this came out I was still in single digit years and they had me hooked on Motley Crue. MTV was my favorite thing to watch, more than cartoons.

Motley Crue was the epitome of the excess of the 80's hard rock scene... fast women, fast cars, hard drugs, heavy booze, wild times, take no prisoners... But their music was really good for a band whose members were far from the best musicians. Nikki Sixx (bass) had a talent for writing hooks and catchy choruses for songs, even though he was apparently a mediocre bass player at the time... But he made up for his lack of skills w/ his showmanship onstage... Motley Crue were explosive onstage and one of the most successful hard rock bands of the 80's w/ major hits like - 'Girls, girls, girls' ... 'Home sweet home' ... 'Dr. Feelgood' ... 'Looks that kill' ... 'Wild side' ... 'Primal scream' ... 'Shout at the devil' ... 'Too young to fall in love'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘 The original Motley Crue was always a volatile band of misfit characters... Nikki Sixx (bass), Tommy Lee (drums), Mick Mars (guitar) and Vince Neil (vocals)... The 90's proved difficult for Motley Crue after Vince Neil was out of the band by 1992... They hired John Corabi (vocals & guitar) for 1 album in 1994 (self-titled) and it sold poorly and 90's audiences were not interested in the 'new' Motley Crue... So, they reunited w/ Vince Neil in 1997 but they were no longer in demand... Finally, drummer Tommy Lee left the band in 1999 after his marriage to Pamela Anderson ended and he wasn't getting along w/ Vince Neil anymore. Motley Crue eventually separated by 2002. However, demand for Motley Crue rose again in 2004 and the original 4 were offered to reunite for a major comeback tour in 2005... but guitarist Mick Mars needed surgery on his spine and care on the road before they could tour again... Motley Crue were vindicated as they sold out arenas once again and opted to end their career in 2014 after a 'final' tour. Once again, w/ the success of their movie 'The Dirt'... Motley Crue's fame rose and a stadium tour was announced in 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic... They were back on tour in 2022. However, guitarist Mick Mars opted to leave the band by 2023 and was replaced by former Rob Zombie/ Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5.

Nikki Sixx (bass) of Motley Crue wrote 'Kickstart my heart' in 1989 after he had apparently coded in '87 from an OD on he+++n... Paramedics arrived to find Sixx without a pulse and attempts to revive him had failed... A paramedic used adrenaline shots to jumpstart Sixx's heart and he came back immediately... According to Sixx, he wasn't done that night. He claimed he checked out of the hospital, hitchhiked home and then shot up he+++n again... He woke up the next morning w/ the needle still in his arm and was stunned that he couldn't stop his addiction. Motley Crue's management had enough and demanded that all 4 members go to rehab and seek counseling for their addictions in 1988... Their 5th album 'Dr. Feelgood' in 1989 was written w/ the band sober for the first time since they had begun... It charted at #1 in the US and sold 6x platinum... The music video for 'Kickstart my heart' was filmed at the L.A. club Whiskey a-go-go, where Motley Crue became famous as a local band w/ an indie record out ('Too fast for love') in 1981... At that point, they were touring arenas and wanted to do a club show where they had started their career to launch the 'Dr. Feelgood' tour. Motley Crue were the focus of the Netflix biopic 'The Dirt' (based on their autobiography) which depicted the band in comedic terms... Motley represented the excess of the 80's to the fullest - girls, drugs, booze and mayhem... all in one (MGK did play drummer Tommy Lee in the movie)... Actor Sebastian Stan portrayed Tommy Lee in the miniseries 'Pam & Tommy'... depicting the chaotic marriage between Lee and 'Baywatch' actress Pamela Anderson... (which ended in divorce) The couple's honeymoon video was stolen and published without their consent... Motley Crue singer Vince Neil also had his sex tape published around the same time without his consent but he was more nonchalant about it, choosing to not deal w/ it and let the controversy blow over... Poison singer Bret Michaels said his sex tape w/ Pamela Anderson (whom he had dated before she married Tommy Lee) was also stolen and leaked publicly, so he copyrighted the tape, took legal action and refused to give permission to any distributors to publish it.

Back in the 80's, this was my 'pump up' song before a wrestling match. The vibe.. the speed.. the beat.. the VOLUME.. If it didn't get you pumped... better check yer pulse. Also saw them live.. Tommy Lee is a legend. period. Side- Note- yeah.. I know what the back story is on the song.. doesn't change a thing.. It still gets me pumped as hell.

I’ve loved Crue since the first album and did get to see them during their heyday in the 80’s. It was crazy! Fun fact: Mick Mars was married to Emi Canyn the blond back-up singer.

Whew BP, kick arse songs today! This one tied with "Dr. Feelgood" are my favorite Motley Crue songs! I have narcolepsy now in my middle aged yrs (thanks to "Rona" virus), and have great difficulty staying awake in the daytime, but your channel is very fun today and keeping me awake! Thanks so much, love you and Wannabe dude too! 🥳💃🎵🎸

Motley Crue Girls Girls Girls was the first cassette I bought with my own money at the record store in the mall. They were one of the bands that started my love of rock. 💜

Kick ass tune! One of my favorite by them and there are a lot to choose from. The song is about how bassist and main writer, Nikki Sixx, had a heroine overdose and died for few minutes while the EMT's tried to revive him and they injected an adrenaline shot into him to revive him. They took him to the hospital, he went home and shot up more heroine. He was such an addict that even death didn't stop him. But he had a revelation shortly after and checked himself into rehab. This video is incredible and the song pumps you up. We partied hard to this jam back then. Hard not to just go nuts. Check out "Wild Side", "Girls, Girls, Girls", "Dr. Feel Good" and more. These cats were the original poster children for debauchery in the 80's. While the Sunset Strip was hyped with a lot of hair metal bands back in the early 80's, this band blew it up. They partied harder than almost anyone and were well known for being crazy.
