Crosby, Stills and Nash have a lot of great songs with incredible 3 part harmony. They were Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young when Neil Young was in the group. Stephen Stills and Neil Young were originally in Buffalo Springfield. David Crosby was in The Byrds, and Graham Nash was in The Hollies. Some of their great songs are Woodstock, Love the One You're With, Teach Your Children, Just a Song Before I Go, Ohio, Helpless, Wasted On the Way, Our House, Almost Cut My Hair, Carry On, and Marrakesh Express. Love to see more reactions of their music.

Just so you know the southern cross is a constellation that can only be seen in the southern hemisphere.
@t.a.k.palfrey3882Ай бұрын
Really, that is not correct. At certain times of the year, low in the night sky, the Southern Cross can be seen as far north as the south of Florida, everywhere in Mexico, in Hawaii, and as far north as the Himalayas and southern China.

It is above the south pole, and serves the same purpose for ocean navigation in the southern hemisphere as the North Star in the Northern.

In this case, Southern Cross is also the name of Stephen's sailboat. You can actually see it on the stern in one of the scenes.

I remember when I first saw the Southern Cross. In 1982, I was on the bridgewing a US Navy Frigate transiting from New Caledonia to Adelaide, Australia. The night sky was so clear and the sea was as smooth as I had ever seen it. I can still picture it in my mind. So beautiful.

Stephen Stills wrote this song about sailing in the South Pacific.The peace and quiet of being on the ocean and the time to reflect on life. Stills was a big sailor loving the water. The Southern Cross is an actual constellation that sailors used for navigation in the earlier days.

Crosby, Stills and Nash's harmonies are SUPERB ! ! ! They were BIG in the music scene around the world. As an Aussie, we (and New Zealander's) have the SOUTHERN CROSS on the flags of our countries as we see it all the time above us in the Southern Hemisphere.
@rosemaryabbott1020Ай бұрын
This group was absolutely superb and I very much feel that they were part of the hippie culture. It was a beautiful time and flower children were everywhere. Joni Mitchell was a musical flower child I believe. She sounded like a hippie and both Graham Nash and David Crosby fell in love with her. Our House was written about her and Graham Nash. She wrote Woodstock and it became a pretty big hit for them.Stephen Stills was in love with Judy Collins and he wrote Suite Judy Blue Eyes about her.

Dope. My father has a 42 ft sailboat, full galley, bathroom, makes fresh water from sea water... You get the point. Anyway, years ago, we sailed from Boston to Costa Rica. It was awesome. Point is.. The "Southern Cross" refers to a bunch of stars in the sky that you can use to navigate, especially down around the equator. We packed some food but prolly line caught and cooked 80% of our food. Even got to snorkel with a whale shark

Stephen Stills was an army brat who grew up all over South America, the Caribbean, and the American South. He's always written Spanish lyrics and used latin beats in his music. BTW, it's David Crosby who was the sailing freak. Owned a number of boats, especially when he lived in Florida.

I met them when I was about 18 years old. I went to see a performer named Tim Harden in Greenwich Village and all his friends came to jam with him. No one knew they'd be there. This was a supergroup of supergroups. Sometimes played with Neil Young, too. There harmonies are legendary. Stephen Stills wrote this based on a boat trip to French Polynesia after a divorce. The Southern Cross is a constellation you can only see below the Equator. Try: "Helplessly Hoping"; "Teach Your Children"; "Our House"; "Suite:Judy Blue Eyes"; "Ohio". There's so much more.

Crosby Still and Nash (CSN) and their variant Crosby Stills Nash and Young (CSNY) are superstars of 60s and 70s rock. All four of these guys were stars in their own bands in the 60s and then collaborated in these TWO bands at Woodstock in 1969 and released a monster album in 1970 and then MANY solo and group songs in the early 70s. All in the Rock Hall of Fame....known for their MASTER harmonizations, guitar work (Stills and Young). Crosby passed away recently (RIP)....their 1960s predecessor bands were Buffalo Springfield, The Hollies and the Byrds....you already reacted to What Its worth from Buffalo Springfield (Stills) and The Hollies (Nash)

Crosby, Stills, Nash &Young was a super group. Each of them was a star on his own. Together we got to hear all of their talent packed tightly together. And Southern Cross has become one of my favorites. I like listening to it as I bask in the amazing sights and sounds of a 2 a.m. watch. Yes, the ocean can be lonely - then dolphins come to play in bioluminescent waters. Now to the beginning and hairlines. I used to tell the barber to trim the front to the wrinkle in my forehead. Then the wrinkles declared war on hair. Soon they got reinforcements. The wrinkles haven't lost a single soldier. But hair is losing soldiers every day.

This was one of their late career hits in the 80s. Their heyday was primarily in the 60s and early 70s. Check out their song Love the One you're With. This song defined relationships for us from the late 60s to the 80s. David Crosby would come up out of the grave over being called yacht rock.
