Funny story: Tool refused to license their songs for digital platforms like Spotify and Pandora. Weeks before the release of Fear Inoculum they dropped their entire catalog on those apps, and they filled up the top 10 digital downloads for a while there. Taylor Swift fans were shook!
@dumahim4 жыл бұрын
Tool was on Pandora for a long time. It's how I found out about Rosetta Stoned. For months when the song came up, it would get cut off at the same spot. I presume because it was so long. Eventually they started playing the entire song. Googling it, it looks like they were pulled in April of 2018 and was back a little over a year later.

I think what is meant by "underrated" is that compared to their bigger hits--Stinkfist, Sober, Aenima, 46&2, Schism, Parabola/Parabol, The Pot, Vicarious--the songs that Tool is known for in the wider market, it is very easy to overlook a song like Bottom, but it's one of the best on Undertow and one of their best overall. There are other songs like that in their catalogue, like Jimmy, H, the Patient, Jambi, Disposition-Reflection-Triad, Third Eye (both versions), You Lied, etc. Look at their new album. Fear Innoculum was the release, 7empest got the Grammy, but I think Pneuma was the best track. These are gems that only people who take the time to listen to their whole album understand.

It's one of the things I love most about this band. Each album and era truly captured something unique and special. It makes comparing albums a redundant task for myself at least. They certainly grow in maturity over the years as song writers, but the pure energy of this album (combined with technique and quite frankly, a complexity any other band would be grateful to achieve just once in their entire careers) - makes Undertow equally timeless. I liken their albums more to novels than anything else. (Book of Tool, aye?). Each is simply a different story and depending how you feel, you might be keen to experience one over another. I used to go for a hard walk singing with maynard. When you hit the screamed notes with him, there is power you've never known. After, respect for what it takes to achieve it. Today, the rap devotees of the southside chicago get to hear it, and the looks do i get.

9:48. You can hear Maynard tail in to the next couple verses.

I for one know every Tool, A Perfect Circle, & Puscifer song. TOOL ARMY STRONG! All the lyrics are engraved into my brain. Love this one featuring Henry Rollin's. His movies to name a few. That are worth a watch. He never Died, American Hardcore, The Feast, The new Guy, Heat, Johnny Mnemonic, Wrong Turn Dead End, Bad Boys 2 and my favorite vampire Rock movie "Suck" featuring some great musicians including the great Henry Rollins. You guys make Tool Tuesday's the best day. 🤘🎶🤘

Henry Rollins was the singer for the hardcore punk band, Black Flag. When they broke up in the late 80s, Henry then started The Rollins Band... who on their first tour had Tool open for them. Rollins had been a huge impact and inspiration for Maynard in the early years.

Nice!! I could see you boys really got into that one! Some awesome riffs in there, all the usual Tool magic, and a bit of Henry to boot 😁😁

This song both brings me to years at times and makes me so happy. It's weird. Depends on the day. Now I'm loving it and just loving it! Helps to see them enjoy it for the first time too! So much fun to hear this! Makes me wanna play it! Had to learn it recently too! So sick on guitar!
