Really? The Hurwitz , Murray & Times discussions were cringe worthy. This one is better for two reasons: he's looking more healthy (that's good), and he really needed to respond positively after his last three painful discussions. You sound like you've got JP an an unusually high pedestal. You might want to rethink your cult-like devotion. Much of what he said in the Hurwitz and Murray discussions was disappointing to say the least. Seems to me like he has taken the comply / conform / accept pills that are now, apparently, a BigTech prerequisite if you wish to speak in the public realm.

@duncansunrise
@duncansunrise 3 жыл бұрын
@@timothyh7053 Have you been taking "happy" pills? I don't dislike JP or anyone who chooses to adore him. My point is simply that we need to keep things in sharp perspective. The "plandemic", the global reset, the transitioning of democratic western nations to authoritarian communist states, cancel culture, Bigtech & BigPharma collusion, suppression of information, etc., etc., are of monumental concern to tens of millions of people, if not hundreds of millions. I really don't believe the recent batch of JP podcasts will have any impact whatsoever on the hideous machinations of the modern era. Some of his earlier lectures / discussions may well have raised awareness of the reasons for western society's decline, and even have engendered some hope for the future, but the Hurwitz, Murray, Times discussions were so disappointing I can only conclude that JP is simply looking to survive in the public realm, and to preserve his career and income., by complying with the prevailing narrative of MSmedia, Bigtech & Bigpharma. Although this is quite understandable in terms of dollars and cents, it leaves a taste in my mouth which is somewhat less than sweet. I'm pleased for him and his family that he's looking well, or at least in more robust health, so good luck to him with all that. Nevertheless, I think many of his devotees should probably ponder over the breadth and depth of their adoration.

Dr Matt Ridley is brilliant. In the run-up to Christmas 1980, some school friends and I went carol singing, someone's Dad was driving us round. We sang carols for the old Lord Ridley of Blagdon Hall, father of Matt. There was a huge Christmas tree in the hall and a roaring fire in the hearth, such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We sang our carols and old Lord Ridley rewarded us with Coca Cola and Pringles, first time I had ever eaten the latter snack. A youngish man with dark hair was watching proceedings and I am pretty sure that this young man must have been Matt Ridley. No one goes carol singing any more, which is really sad. Most of the younger people don't know the words to the Christmas carols. Watching this in September 2023, it is so nice to see Dr Peterson looking much healthier now than he did in January 2021, when he was still recovering from his serious illness of 2019 and 2020. It is remarkable how he still managed to write the outstanding 12 Rules for Life - Beyond Order during this period of ill health, which had also included Tammy Peterson's serious health problems.

These book author interviews are brilliant. No wasting time with pre-agenda interviewers (ie. Kathy Newman) and talk show hosts who end up orbiting in their deaf circles of blatant denial, publicly attacking him instead of actually 'interviewing' him or acknowledging any of his reasoning. This platform brings back fruitful, intelligent, and balanced conversation. Very progressive, and stimulating. Nice to see Dr. Peterson being respected in healthy, normal 2 sided conversation. A counter perspective from a small farmer to an otherwise engaging talk: 1) The reference to the past being so encumbered with struggles against disease and hunger, is certainly well warranted, but realize that humanity has had thousands of years to adapt to their native environments. There are lots of successful civilizations that sprung up in harmony with nature, with each individual having a vast , multi generational knowledge of the flora and fauna near them, as well as the ways of living healthy and avoiding illness and predation. Not every picture of the past needs to be beset with bronchitis and famine, many primitive cultures lived in abundance, health and had lots of leisure time. 2) You’re guest describes a future where farms are all centralized, save a few amateurs here and there, while the rest of the world is put in conservation to avoid,” Being trampled on.” This is a perspective endemic to academics who have spent too much time in their office and not enough time in careful observation of nature. Humans, with the proper knowledge, do not trample or destroy their environment, but interact with it. We are a part of nature and, can increase the biodiversity through regenerative agricultural practices. Decentralization of agriculture and the education of how to do so is key to invigorating the now dead and abandoned American countryside. Many environments have been so damaged by abuse that simply leaving them in conservation will result in a thicket. Humans are capable of stewarding the land to a point where it would be more productive then if simply made a place for tourism. Nature is not meant to simply be visited on vacation from the city, it is our birth place, our womb and our common heritage.
@Rollpepper
@Rollpepper 3 жыл бұрын
Well said. I don’t like this notion we must all be put into cities with highly specialized jobs, no space to call our own, no roots to grow. There’s a reason cities have the lowest birth rates, the lowest religiousness, and problems it is not mans nature.
@WhatAboutU.S.
@WhatAboutU.S. 3 жыл бұрын
This is why they want people packed into cities. Hunters, fisherman, (conservationists) only take what they need to survive and they respect the land and the harvest. The powers at be dont want people to be self sufficient because then they aren't consumers, they are conservatives and if you're not consuming you're not spending money and are therefore dangerous to their business model. You are 100% correct my friend, the majority of people have lost touch with the land and they want everything instantaneously and thats unnatural.

Such a brilliant conversation. I'm always grateful for being able to listen to such intellectual people and would wish to talk to them face to face. As someone in their early 20's and who's having trouble about being productive because of depression, I often get confused about life and can't get my head around what's what. After listening to Jordan Peterson for tens of hours, I managed to categorize most of my behaviours and found that both my strong suits and my weaknesses comes from me being dominantly an "open" and "neurotic" person. Even though knowing your character traits helps, your problems don't just go away just because you reckognized them. Right now I'm trying to find doable solutions to my problems and these "rational optimistic" ideas really give me hope towards being a better version of myself. Thank you Jordan.
