Find us @CatLadyFitness and get more cuteness doses of Puppy & Alfred living their best lives 😘 ▪ I could not find any clinical studies nor *any* information in journals/reputable sources regarding harm or ill effects when combining protein meat & organs from different animals (ie. chicken meat with beef protein). The only questionable mention I found was stating it "can [may] cause indigestion", but this was from anecdotal observation and was not cited. In other words, always make sure to monitor your kitty like usual - but using beef liver with poultry as your main protein should be just fine ;) ▪ If you do use beef liver and can find other secreting organs from chicken (like kidneys), remember you can do a 50/50 amount of each as long as it's 10% or less of the total recipe (or if you are using the recipe calculator on CatLadyFitness.com, simply divide the "chicken livers" result in half to see how many grams beef liver & kidneys/other secreting organs to use). ▪ Totally forgot this week's subscriber Meowt-Out! 🙀🤦‍♀️ I blame the fact that I rush-filmed this right before Hurricane Evacuation time. When it comes to mixing proteins, I use home-raised rabbit but I can't always keep up with demand for organ meat with the rabbits, so a good portion of the liver and heart my cats eat is chicken.

I love love that you actually right on money, I just came from the vet's and he recommended 150 gm of beef liver twice a week for my senior cat. I felt like I need to double check that. and he said cook it for 2 minutes in water and serve the water as the cat needs the amino acids to aid their weight loss. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much for this info. I give my cat half dry and half wet. She eats her allowed daily of dry and then for a treat I give her raw at sunset. She adores raw beef liver and would pull up her nose to chicken liver. I give her about 2 tablespoons of liver alternating with raw chicken. I do also give her steamed fish which is another one of her favorites. She is very active and would spend most of her day outdoors. Hope I'm not killing her softly with my love.?

When I had a cat a few years ago, I would treat her once or twice a week to a tiny bit of beef liver. She loved it. Tried chicken liver, and she didn't like it as much.

Lovely video! I wonder if you'd make a video reviewing the nutritional value of some commercial raw food brands such as Nature Instinct and Purrform!!

Purrform is not available in the United States based on my research. It is made in the UK. Instinct is only 70% meat. The other 30% is fruits and vegetables which are not necessary in an obligate carnivore diet, and may even cause harm.

I'm actually based in the UK and I think that if she were to make a video like that it'd be nice to compare a few brands not just the USA ones... regardless, it'd be informative to see what parameters she focuses on when discussing any brand! PS: I actually meant Natural Instinct, another UK brand, not the USA's Instinct :-)

Thank you for this video! We tried beef liver one time because they were out of chicken liver in their raw diet. One cat LOVED it and ate it all... the other cat vomited uncontrollably immediately after 🙁🙁 every cat is different!

This was so helpful! I just used duck liver in a recipe because I didn't know better; and now I know to start again with chicken liver and save those duck liver-duck meat concoctions for intermittent feeding.

this video is exactly what I needed.... due to supply chain problems I've been to every store within 1.5 hours from me... I really drove that far... none of them have chicken livers... yet the mexican grocery butcher section does have beef livers... so it's going to be beef livers for the kitty for the time being.

@@arunksf important update: hearts and livers were replaced with beef livers. She ate it fine for 3 days, on 4th day she puked it all up. Maybe a bug, 5th day she puked it. Threw out all the food, dry food for 4 days then started over with a new batch, yolks, thighs, some breast, BEEF LIVERS, vitamins, etc. She puked it again first day. Threw out two weeks worth of food again. Sadly it looks like she's on dry food until I can access chicken livers and hearts again and use the recipe that is proven to work. She's been raw diet for a year now so the only variable was the beef livers and they can't stay in her for ten minutes.

Can I use duck meat as muscle meat? Because my cats love duck, I read this chart I dunno if I was reading it right, but it said it was high in taurine! My cats are getting very bored of their pre made raw food, they don’t have loads of flavours, it consists of literally chicken& beef, beef, chicken, lamb and chicken. I get that chicken is brilliant for them, but they are getting so bloody bored with it. I’m doing my first batch this weekend and I want to add duck as muscle meat is this a good idea? X

Thank you Jasmin, Please could you make a video of different combinations of meats for very picky gatos. Oh my is taking me for ever to train them to eat raw food. I am in the step of mixing the can food and raw food from mom. Another person would already have given up, but I refused. I wonder why chicken thighs. I am having a hard time finding them with bone and skin. People are getting lazier or what? How about breast or drums? Please let me know. I am In agony
