I wanted to know if you use your blender for the chicken to grind everything, because I did your recipe for the first time today and I cut the pieces of thighs , skin and hearts but the pieces looked to big? I'm very confused. thanks for your response. Also I don't have a grinder or blender.

I recently had someone ask me about the supplements I use. When I mentioned fish oil, she asked, "you mean like cod liver oil?" and I explained to her that the fish oil I use comes from salmon and that cod liver oil would cause vitamin A toxicity.

10:00 This retinol toxicity damaging bones is most likely from insufficient cholecalciferol during retinol consumption. These have to be in balance. You can test the pro-hormone 25,hydroxy-cholecalciferol.

There is probably no need to make it raw though. Just make sure to add taurine. That is why cooked food was bad for cats, because the taurine was leaking out.

What about cod livers (not oil, but the actual livers). Can’t seem to find any info on whether or not it’s a good idea to feed cats. Comes in cans like sardines.

So, here I am, a vegan trying to get my cats on raw food diet (ergh, the smell of raw meat makes me oozy but I will power through) or at least trying to slowly transition them to it. I am pretty much scared, I have tried to feed them before, but they were not interested and I did not insist. But I will try again, after reading much more and seeing so many videos. I am binge watching your videos, and I want to give you a huge thank you for how much knowledge share you are putting into this channel. My boy Lucifer just got out of some struvites and bladder inflammation situation and I want to incorporate more raw food into his diet because I know it will help with the hydration. I will check all and take notes, I know there are some supplements some people give their cats, I have recently discovered a good vet who said he doesn't like dry kibble and that the best to feed cats is homemade meals but he didn't mention whether raw or not, I will keep insisting. Hope I found a vet who agrees with raw food and will monitor my cats closely. Since I did not manage to see all your videos, do you happen to add any fruit/veggies/powders into the mix? Like any supplements, fish oil, etc. Also, you never feed them fish? Thank you sooo much! You are gorgeous and I am so happy I found your channel.

Hey I'm vegan too and I have been researching raw cat food for my cats. :-) I haven't bought meat in almost 3 years since I became vegan. So I'm not totally excited to buy the meat but I'm very excited for my little baby cats to get the proper nutrition. :-)

With this pandemic I having problem to find liver. Can I use a specific supplement. Since the liver is mainly for vitamin A. Can I buy Vitamin A and if I could how much Vitamin A should in use. Thanks. Going crazy here. :)

I cook my cat food and grind it up but I havent been measuring it, perhaps I should, I make a mix of Turkey meat/bones, chicken hearts and chicken livers. I think I have been putting too much organ meat in the food as well as just straight up giving my cats chicken liver. They seem to really love organ meats but I will reduce it for now. I am wondering are there any organ meats that are toxic to cats if fed too often like hearts or kidneys?

@@monii8661 Well one of my cats is quite small I think he might have been peeing inside the house as a result and one time i found crystals in his urine. The larger cat was no affected. I severely reduced the organ content of my home made catfood. It seems however that they really like organ meat so i am quite careful. One time is not going to be a problem its rather going to be an issue if you consistently do it. To me it was rather a mistake of being a newbie to cat food making as well as having an adult cat who is the size of a 5-6 month old kitten that threw me off. I'd also say that if you can purchase a grinder its cheaper and healthier to make your own cat food at home if you have budget issues. I mean recently I bought a whole turkey for about 42$ and half an order of organ meats, I'd calcuate it probably costs me 120$ CAD to feed two adult cats for a month. It takes me about 25 minutes to grind and pack the food in the freezer so I would say its worth it to those who have the will to do that. I also have a stash of emergency high quality canned cat food and i might give them some on christmas as a special occasion but they will still devour my home made food especially if i warm it up in the toaster oven.

As far as vitamin A content goes I'm not sure what the difference is, but I'm fairly certain that beef liver contains more fat than chicken liver. My cats mostly eat rabbit, but every so often I will grind up a batch of chicken. The only real difference between rabbit and chicken is that rabbit has 1% less fat and 1% more protein than chicken.

Hi! Thanks for all your videos! I was wondering if you rinse all your ingredients before chopping it all up (like the liver and hearts and chicken thighs etc)? Also is it safe to give the liver raw? I heard a vet say before that some cats may get very sick if they eat raw liver. I want to start feeding my cats raw but I'm scared they will get sick. I also have one picky cat who won't eat anything other than canned and dry food. I tried giving some raw chicken thigh one time and one of my cats ate one or two bites while my other cat wouldn't even touch it. How did you transition your cats to raw food? Hi Rosalind. Beef liver can contain toxic amounts of vitamin A, for cats. I stick to chicken, or duck livers in the meat mixes I make. Hope this helps :)

Oh, you have two cats :) Are they both 11? How long have you been feeding your cats raw diet? Which one is the one with darker ears and a dark spot between his shoulder blades? They seem like siblings, have you had both of them since they were kittens? One other thing, I haven't watched all of the videos yet, so you might have already commented on this topic before but, I'd like to feed my cats raw diet but I'm afraid of food poisoning - bacterial infections.. I read an article recently about a research on the pre made raw food products in the Netherlands, and it turned out that 1/4 of the samples were infected with salmonella, and a fifth of them with e. Coli. I've purchased a product from the Netherlands(that was before the article) yesterday and already fed some to my cat, and I maaay be too careful/cautious when it comes to my cats, but now I'm really worried. Did you do a video on the risks of bacterial infections? (could you post me a link?) I always do my research anyway but it never hurts to hear opinions and experiences from other people (especially the ones already feeding a raw diet). I hope this post reaches you.
