Reliving The War by Wrestling Bios is an ongoing series that looks at the whole Monday Night War on a weekly basis. We’ve reached the end of July 1996, also known as Glacier Month!
We are currently at 7.29.96, World Championship Wrestling’s Nitro show is live from Orlando, Florida while the WWF are showing more taped matches from Seattle, Washington. WCW are promoting their Hog Wild pay per view where Hulk Hogan will take on The Giant for the WCW Championship. The Outsiders are on Nitro this week and they are wrecking havoc backstage, this Nitro features the infamous Rey Mysterio “lawn dart” bump as Kevin Nash and Scott Hall completely turn WCW Nitro upside-down. Over on the WWF side, 2 true legends of the Monday Night War go head-to-head when Stone Cold Steve Austin does battle with The Undertaker. The WWF are on the road to SummerSlam 1996 where Shawn Michaels will defend the WWF title against Vader, and The Undertaker will face Mankind in a Boiler Room Brawl.

They are very good! They’ve improved immensely from the start. But even the early videos are awesome. The theme music at the beginning instantly puts me into a mid 90s state of mind. Takes me back to the good ol days

As someone that didn't really become a fan until way later, this mid-late 90s era is my favorite time in the history of professional wrestling. Both sides vying for the most fans and biggest moments. Had certain egos not gotten in the way, WCW could still be around today. At their best, WCW is still my all time favorite promotion.
