They joined Motown after Ray Charles had a hit with Let's Go Get Stoned, which was also written by Ashford, Simpson & Armstead. 😊

After all this time (decades later), I just found out that Ray Charles is the original singer of this song. I've always thought it was originally done by the heavy metal band "Wasp". The "Wasp" version of the song does sound a little different, though.
