[Vivian here] For sure Ryan -- do not give up reading the Bible. The longer you continue to read it -- the better things begin to gel. As a family we have been reading through the Bible every year (we switch translations at the beginning of each new year) since Max was 3 (he is turning 19 this month). The method we settled into was dividing the Bible into sections: Pentateuch / History / Wisdom / Prophets / Gospels / Letters. After each meal we do some Bible reading (reading from all 6 sections daily). As Max got older the amount of conversation around the text increased. But I could not have imagined the benefits that would be gained -- to myself and my family. It generates so much conversation on so many topics with new insights each time through. It has unified our family -- not that we always agree on everything but we are helped to understand each other, know each other, and more importantly get the mind of God.

I can certainly appreciate your honestly. I know full well all your levels of battles and there are many. But the bottom line is no matter who you are whether with a book in your hand or an opinion in your head every human ever born is going to have tread there on personnel course. They will ask a lot of questions ! They will probably settle on those answers that are doable in there life's present state as they see it. This thing with the Watchtower and the Governing body is very serious for those looking to have a future existence beyond what they have presently. ( personally I have none ) .With this said if given the opportunity, if the man Jesus was all a scam to try and put the Romans off course and the Priest I'd give up my life for him and take his place instantly because he was a beautiful person to me.But I was not there ! So we are left with con's and no one to trust. If the Watchtower is evil or just diluted we will never know on this side of death . My personal experience with them was just that,an experience of which i would like to forget. I except the Bible as a great piece of literature written by the hand of a lot of very hopeful men under a lot of less then desirable circumstances. My course in life is to follow that of the natural order of things ( creation ) I.m pretty sure you can trust that.

The great temptation, once we have lost our faith in the men in Brooklyn, is to distrust ALL men. But then we are left trusting ourselves, our own judgment. It is more consistent to distrust ourselves AND others. But who can live like that? As CS Lewis saw it, we have 3 options about Jesus: He was a liar. He was a lunatic. Or He was the Lord He said He was. Check out Lewis' classic book, "Mere Christianity".

The only thing I do not like about 7th day adventism is the focus on ellen white. They(Sda) seem to believe her writing worthy or equal to scripture ... they also have hospitals who do abortions(so i am told).
