"i decided it would take at least 3 of me to defend myself against a third of one of them" probably the best line ever in comedy i genuinely think that dylan is the closest thng to a good poet in this day and age kinda ironic actually considerin he wrote what he described as "bad poetry" before gettin into comedy

"She's attractive in an obvious way." Interestingly, the women who say that tend to have hidden their attraction SO WELL... LOL. 4:03 I did a very male sort of reckoning, you know. I did the calculation. I thought, "Right. There's three of you, and there's one of me." --I'm rubbish at maths, by the way-- but in record time, I worked out that it would take at least three of me to defend myself against a third of one of them even if he only attacked me with his [arms? arse?] I love this guy!

In my younger years, I was drinking at a bar when a giant biker-gang-type gentleman sat next to me. He had on a beautifully knitted and soft-looking sweater. I was drunk enough that it took me close to half an hour to realize that the motif of his sweater was nothing but swastikas and SS symbols. So I turned to the barkeep, who was a friend, and pointed this out, saying that I may be tempted to beat this gentleman into the ground, but luckily the barkeep talked me out of it. Violence against the mentally ill is not a good look after all.

@Idolcruisefix I know, but it's a general statement. We are no longer in the medieval era and yet we still find the weird or strange unacceptable and they must die or conform in order to belong in society. All the world needs is for the basics, food, water, shelter, education and health care. The rest is luxury. If people could understand that we would not have wars. Of course, you're gonna say the government can manipulate such conditions to their advantage, but if they too realised it...

@Idolcruisefix I was just saying that Hitler thought he was doing the right thing, for his people, which is just another viewpoint of what leaders do. Mao Zedong starved his people to death but also brought employment rates to a sky high and lifted parts of China out of a third world state. Some people thinks he did great, others not so much. Matter of perspective. I'm not saying what Hitler did was right, but he thought he did.

@Idolcruisefix I don't think it's an accident, nor do I think it is on purpose caused by the few. If there is mass famine there is two things wrong in the country: 1. The economy 2. Corruption in government While 1 and 2 can both be cause and effects of each other it basically boils down to one of the two. Also, while advancements in science have been extraordinary, it is disappointing to see we can't solve the natural resources issue. There is also the businessmen who don't want it to be solved
@choo6988

@Idolcruisefix the world isn't divided into good and bad people, you have to remember that. most of the time the 'evil' side will never be united, that is why the good always triumph because they are united against an enemy whereas evil are full of people willing to exploit, corrupt for power. not all people in power are evil either, royalty sometimes have their good and bad. which is the very weakness of a monarchy, it stays within the family.

@Idolcruisefix Slavery is ownership of a human being. Which incidentally infringes on civil rights, defining them as a lower class than human. In a sense everyone is a slave to the economy, especially to money. I know that horrible things have happened in the past to the common people and that there are several who are looking to exploit them. But in this day and age, they can't do that. The freedom of information combined with technology has made this world closer than it has ever been before.

@Choo69 "the uneducated?violent?" didn't say that, i said "uneducated violent people" as in blue sad people or "orange floatable elephans" doesn't mean all elephants or people are always these things. however i do think all violence is started in ignorance, i just don't think it's safe to conclude we don't need guns (bad people would make guns) until we are all taught to unravel lies made for making war, death, etc. but by then, if there is no violent people why would you need to ban guns?

@Idolcruisefix Everyone will be "scorned" if any such country would step out of line too far. This is what we are heading towards, we are only currently moving towards internationalist ideas. Religion is the one being scorned, if it does step out of line. Islam and Scientology are the examples. All because of this village. This shows the power of words over guns, solving conflicts without the need for firearms. It is what I've been saying about a "gun-less" world.

@Idolcruisefix I don't think we're slaves, I think humans are just naturally subservient. They will always look to a leader to lead them. Anyway, I don't see myself as a slave even if I don't have a gun because the country where I'm from does not condone violence as a sign of power. It's culture more than anything... the US have a perfect history for the rights to owning a gun. In other countries we do not find the need to own a gun to protect ourselves. We inherently have faith in humanity.

I have seen many of his youtube videos and they are spectacular, hilarious, brilliant and far beyond Eddie Izzard who went from hilarious to boring videos. I saw an Eddie DVD yesterday that seemed like he had nothing to say or anything to do? and his audience paid $$$$$ for it? Eddie needs to HEAR DYLAN and re-boot his life.

first who or what do you think i hate? second "nanny state" ...my point is every day objects are more dangerous then guns when used to kill, so logically (from your stance of gun control) if you are going to have psych exams (gov. regulated) for guns then you should also have gov. regulated psych exams for all sorts of things bought at a store, driven, utilized, etc. thus, "nanny state"

@Choo69 islam grows i think, and depending on how you look at the religious, they have all grown in numbers as multiple people, because of mass communication, see many religions as buckets of water from the same lake, all having something to offer in philosophy or actual unexplained phenomenon, also science doesn't necessarily end religion or escape dogma. Whats w/ the "guns and absence of religion ?or a small world? being scorned? like nazi's were (after they were praised)? didn't stop them.

@Idolcruisefix the negatives outweigh the positives in gun licenses. of course it will affect those in power, because everyone has guns. the jews were a minority and the rest of germany was either in awe of Hitler or antisemitic. guns would not have stopped hitler. guns do not stop wars. guns do not bring safety. i'm not being sarcastic.

@Idolcruisefix I NEVER said anything about guilty until innocent. The test would determine whether you are suitable to be holding an instrument capable of destruction without causing any. Your view of the world is extremely pessimistic, maybe because of your own personal experiences. The basic of my principles will not be giving power to the few, but to the ones that understand the responsibility of power.
@choo6988
@choo6988 14 жыл бұрын
@Idolcruisefix I mean that, and I'm assuming here, that some of your own personal experiences has led to a biased view on life. It is pessimistic, I know I've seen cases where people can be overtly manipulative, psychotic. But that's just the few and it's rare. The good in people can astonish you sometimes, it's just a matter of finding those people. Geographically, the bad tend to band together because of them being outcasts to the majority of good people in society.

'Well-armed well-INFORMED public'? I hope you're not referring to America as a comparison cos theres a long list of why thats not true. And the men did put up a resistance, just in the camps, when they already were disarmed. Plus they weren't aware that they were being killed, up until 1942 they just thought they were being relocated and not massacred. Even when they knew, they were half dead anyhow through starvation. Annnnd most escapees were recaptured and killed.

@Choo69 lots of things kill, like box cutters(no guns) supposedly on 9-11 or gasoline, elements,compounds, automobiles, boats, planes, etc. innocent people (a MAJORITY) w/ the right to have guns is a good way to be safer(just in case) from the FEW, seemingly more dangerous,but if all innocent people are armed and can shoot, then some of them/you/me might survive being attacked by the FEW who are sick in the head and drunk with power. your outlook on humanity and the world seems grim, not mine

@Choo69 saying guns and self defence are not ok is saying you can't defend yourself against uneducated violent people attacking you. Making violent uneducated people less violent and more educated doesn't seem to have anything to do with saying a gun should be outlawed. they seem as opposites. saying you can't have a gun seems like saying you are to stupid to not be uneducated and violent. I feel safer, knowing educated non-violent people can have the same weapons as law breakers & war-mongers.

@Idolcruisefix I actually find USA one of the best examples of freedom in the history of mankind.Yet the prospect of gun ownership in Western civilisation just doesn't make sense? It seems like a cowboy western movie except in cities and rural areas. I dunno, it just seems off. Besides the overwhelming faith in God that country has, and the guns, it's done everything right so far. It's heading in the right direction, at least.

@Idolcruisefix Well firstly if we did not have firearms nobody would get shot. Secondly, education would reduce reasons to turn to crime. Thirdly, the police will disarm them, with their own guns. I guess what I'm trying to say is that people who own guns should have a psychological examination before handling any sort of firearm.

@Idolcruisefix As I've said before, gun ownership is a green light for people to use a gun - when it's necessary. The purpose of the psych test? To limit the use of guns to those that will not exploit it as a weapon of attack. Your hate is derived from your outlook on humanity which is the difference between you and me. You think the government is power hungry and mad and that everyone in it is out to exploit the weak. While sometimes in history that happens, more often than not...
@choo6988
@choo6988 14 жыл бұрын
@Idolcruisefix Seem to have ignored my education point, which would pretty much remove law-breaking, of all sorts. How can you call all uneducated people violent? Usually those who are violent are just frustrated and need an outlet, an education and proper upbringing would be that outlet. However in terms of feeling safe, yeah I suppose you would. But would you not feel safer if they had a knife instead? It's the same logic. My solution would be with education, in the long run it's better.
@choo6988
@choo6988 14 жыл бұрын
@Idolcruisefix meh, just to be safe and of course there are always bad people BUT most who commit crime are not bad people. they either seek the thrill, or are a victim of circumstances etc. if there is any form of legalisation i would consider a test of some sort and a background check. that way guns will be given to those who are clean. I still think the world would be a better place without guns :P

@Idolcruisefix you know what I meant when I said no guns. You're going about it the wrong way though. Weapons, violence, self-defence are not part of the solution. To keep peace and crime low we start with education and higher standard of living, that way crime won't be necessary and drugs would be almost be non-existent. So what are you solving by legalising guns? You are just giving people the green light that it's okay to use violence - when necessary. And that's how we end up starting wars.
@choo6988
@choo6988 14 жыл бұрын
@Idolcruisefix Stop putting words into my mouth? Never said they were guilty until proven innocent, I was merely making a compromise to having firearms (even thought I think we're much better off without). The compromise between my no-guns ideal and your ideal is a background and psycho-analysis with PROFESSIONALS. Just like how people are tested for their psyche in fields like medicine where lives can be at risk. Why would you think a psyche test would be wrong? I think it's reasonable.

@Choo69 you say i'm pessimistic, i totally see your view as pessimistic.I say you're wrong, you say i'm wrong?! Geez! you say the world would be safer without guns(preludes outlawing sharp sticks) then you say we need guns, but what it seems you miss is, it is always us that need the guns, just in case, or the criminals can make us dead or slaves etc. it's so simple in my mind and i'm sure your visions of solutions, are simple to see for you. lies told to the ignorant makes war, guns don't.

@Choo69 religion might just be highjacked by "several who sought to exploit the common people." not neccessarily built for it, except scientology (recent history). Prime example of dogma in science the fixed eliptical orbit of the earth around the sun, is not fixed, but is still taught everywhere almost a hundred years later to push this idea we live in a fixed universe so anything wierd happening must be us. same thing religion was used for by the few., anything that went wrong was our fault.
