Went back and watched this awesome video!! Perfect car, perfect drivetrain, perfect tires for where you are filming you can’t get a better scenario… some great fans and or gears you would have solved that overheating issue… and had the perfect run to go with all the other perfectness!! Great video bro🤙🏻

I know this is a year late but I just got back into rc a couple weeks ago and revived my glamis uno and this came up in my recommendations. What I notice is it sounds like the gear train is real touch sounding and it’s struggling in the sand. For comparison, I listened to how mine sounded for comparison and it sounded much smoother and effortless. Same sand tires too. Maybe the motor and esc needed an upgrade?
@RCKnockout9 ай бұрын
Glad to hear you’ve gotten back into the hobby! My gear mesh is set good….are you running 32p gears?…it makes a much different sound compared to 48p gears…also it’s an all metal drivetrain
@Turbogto_guy9 ай бұрын
@@RCKnockout ahhh. That’s what it is. I have 48p gears. I adapted an hpi blitz gear box to the buggy and adapted a metal spur. The stock glamis gear box was soft like play doh and wouldn’t hold up to the castle 1415 2400kv I have in it. That’s on 3s in the video but it’ll hold 4s. And it’s rowdy on 4s.

You asked just the question u needed to ask.. Definitely upgrade the electronics.. I have a slash and I run an 1/8th scale electronics. It required removing some of the plastic motor shroud on the rear. But I'm able to run 4s with a hotter gear ratio than ur using, and nearly nonstop in sand as well. Max6 with a 2200kv hw motor. I'd also suggest getting the magnum transmission if u go this route.or get a quality diff locker. Don't get the cheap ones. Also, if u don't get the magnum trans mission.. look into an alum diff case..
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
Where do you even mount the max 6 at? I’ve actually already got the 272R drag slash trans in this car…..

@@RCKnockout It's more power than I can use . Which is perfect..lol. that's why it runs alot cooler. Cuzz I'm only using a fraction of what's available. It made my slashs electronics basically bulletproof. If that's what u want. That's what's needed imo. But being able to hit 50-60 and still have a decent amount still on tap. That's how all rcs should be.. except crawlers.. hahaha. Good luck

BRO!!! I just ordered that same body shell unpainted, LMFAO!! I don't know why but I think the Baja Beetle Body is the Shiz! PS. I knew you should've taken your electric shopping cart with you to get to that other hill! :) Also, for the Slash J-concepts makes a body that has relief cuts in the front and back of the shell so that it doesn't parachute liike the Slash bodies tend to do a lot. I wish I had my Slash with me right now, I'd stop by and bash with ya, I'm headed from NY to IL. today, but I have 2 extra days on this run! :( Which ESC do you have in that?

You mentioned that you didn't know how the gearing compared. Just take the number of spur gear teeth and divide it by the number of pinion gear teeth. The higher the number, the lower the gearing, low gearing = more torque, less speed. The lower the number, the higher the gearing = more torque, less speed. Typically if you are over heating (and gearing is the issue) you need to lower your gearing so the motor isn't working so hard to turn the tires. 18/58 gearing = 3.22 gear ratio. 23/86 gearing = 3.73 gear ratio. The 23/86 is lower, but not much. Tire size also effects your gearing the same way, larger tires take more torque to turn, and get you a higher speed. Smaller tires take less torque but get you a lower speed. A quick rule that i was taught is the closer that the pinion gear is in tooth count to the spur gear, the faster it will be assuming your not over-driving your gears where the pinion is larger than the spur. Sorry if I over explained something that is already obvious to you, just trying to help.
