I relate so much to what you said about looking back on older videos. I've changed a lot myself since I started making videos and am embarrassed of so many things I said in the past. I've had people occasionally ask me about older videos that are no longer online and I have to politely explain that I just don't feel comfortable having them up anymore. I think change and growth is so important. Nobody is perfect and we learn and evolve and recognise our flaws the older we get. I'm not even close to the same person I was 20 or 15 or 10 or even 2 years ago. And I consider that a good thing. This was a wonderful look at "The Weekenders" and it definitely brought back so many memories, even though I haven't seen an episode in probably twenty years. It shows how lasting it is that I can still vividly remember the various pizza themes, several of the episode plots and even Carver's obsession with shoes.

I really like how you seem to enjoy cartoons that kinda fit into the "slice of life" genre the most (going by your videos). I feel like a LOT of time animators and animation fans are pigeonholed into "wacky". Like the only cartoons that "count" are the ones that are super crazy or are really high concepts. Sometimes it feels like if you're someone who likes (or makes) slower, less frenetic energy, you're like not a real cartoon maker/fan. It gets to you after a while. So I really do like how so many of your videos show these kinds of cartoons of just kids being kids as really enjoyable and important in their own light, and not everything needs to be SpongeBob or Avatar. idk just something I've been overthinking about. It’s a special kind of horror to look back at your work and realize that you have moved beyond it, and especially when people remember your old work and want to talk about it, understand, maybe dissect it. Nothing makes me my skin crawl more when friends see and remember my old sketches. I have the privilege of still having friends from preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school at 29. I don’t take it for granted. However, some of them have my older work I’ve gifted to them over the years, and they bring it out, show me, and my only wish in that moment is for a swift catapulting into space. 🙈 🚀 But as I’ve gotten older, it doesn’t hurt to see it all as much. I look back and realize that the work is only a reflection of the knowledge and tools I had at the time, and it’s nothing to feel ashamed of. Cheers to your growth! 🥂

One thing I also liked is that they never compromised their friendships in having any of the main four have a crush on each other and kept them as solid friends, ship wars be damned. They knew each other well enough to have a very sibling-like connection, and they didn't want to lose that.

The Weekenders kinda acted like a source for me to see what a friendship was like. I never did have friends who would hang out with me so I always wished I was Tino or something in it, like some sort of projection. I'm sad I've never had the experience of hanging out with friends, but I'm thankful I had shows like this to keep me amused as if some sort of game of pretend

Yeah, seeing a tight knit group of friends like that just having fun every weekend unsupervised was like wish fulfillment.

A show I didn't fully appreciate at first, but soon garnered a real respect for. I'd say I always kind of considered it Disney's answer to Rocket Power, but if the question is "Hey, can you do this, but GOOD and not a cynical tie in to extreme sports?" Plus, that chemistry between Jason Marsden and Phil LaMarr is just fantastic. That's worth watching the show for alone.

I gotta let you know this is my favorite video of yours so far. I know "that shit had me dying" is a cliche thing to say but so many moments in this review had me laughing. Especially at 26:10.

Bro all the characters were hella funny but the stuff they made Lor say and do really always hit my humor center just right

After watching this entire video, I like the name of the show. It’s literally only about their weekends. They are Weekenders. Don’t change a thing

It still amazes me to this day that Wayne Brady sung the theme song. He was low-key killing it too! 😂

My favorite episode of the Weekenders is when Tito plans the ultimate weekend, but then he realizes that all his friends already have plans, so they can't spend it with him. He tries to follow to his plan, but he finds himself bored without them, so he decides to spend the rest of the weekend doing what they're doing. The he has fun.

this review was lovely aaa :) you never miss with these videos, but I appreciate your honesty when talking about videos you aren’t proud of anymore. the ending really resonated with me as a person who’s messed up a lot and is trying to be more kind to others and myself now. take care of yourself :)

No bulshit I've really enjoyed the videos, perspectives and introductions to music artist. Near the end of the video on The Goofy Movie playing Withdrawls over edits of the powerline section was sick.

The Weekenders felt like a fever dream to me for a long time until another friend of mind reminded me the show existed and now its just so nostalgic and still such an awesome show

I loved the weekenders. I was about 10 or 11 when it came out. I used to watch it on my 1970's TV in my room on Saturday morning cartoons. I'm so glad it lived up to my memories of it.

I think about this show every so often since I watched this a lot as a kid and I always wanted friendships like this because it was just so nice to watch. I wanted to hang out and do all the cool things they did as someone from a small town where all those weren't a thing. The whole vibe is probably why I like slice-of-life comics, webcomics, manga, and anime. Also I had a bit of a crush on Lor now that i think about it and it's probably why I like Ritsu from K-On so much.

YESSSS I've been waiting 84 years for someone to talk about this show. It was the BEST. I still regularly quote "My love is like a paramesium, it divides and reproduces. It's covered in wriggling hair-like sclia and full of high protein juices!"
