She wouldn't let Subaru take the trial for her in S2 because she felt like it was supposed to be her moment even though the lives of all of the villagers were depending on leaving the sanctuary, and at that point in the story Subaru had saved *everyone* they know multiple times and everyone else had already began to trust him except her. She had to be babied every step of the way and up until that point she didn't even have any bad memories because they had been taken from her so she was just being absurdly selfish and naive. It's true that Rem killed him twice but that's only after he started acting weird and she had real reason to not trust him. She saved him more than she ever hurt him. She saved him more times than anyone else. I seriously don't like Emilia. Can't help it. She's too childish.

There are theories about the witch "forcing" Barusu to stay around Emilia, as it was said in the anime, she might become a vessel for her and maybe Barusu is there to pave her the way. Well, she says she loves him (the witch), so what I guess would happen in the second season is Emilia becoming a king, then witch possessing her, pretending to be Emilia who's in love with Barusu, after some time Subaru notices and find out he has to kill her. *THE END* #Relatable BTW: People keep bragging, but I think it's obvious it is more relatable then if he actually chose Rem.

I was okay with emilia but the moment rem became so loyal she even died so many times just to be there for subaru bought me instantly I believe like most other fans, the charm they found in rem which made rem instantly wins the fandom and was furthermore appeared everywhere as if she's a mascot was because of the fact that later on in the anime she was shown to keep repeatingly died ONLY FOR SUBARU. She keeps trying to be there for subaru when he needs help, even though she died so much, including the white whale and the betelguez creepy guy. The point here is rem successfully made people valued more about someone that you don't want but was always there when you needed it rather than someone that you wanted but was never there. That's the moral of the story and the beauty of this character.
