that's cuz the studio version was recorded very quickly in between 152 shows across several continents that year. In the meantime Tati has been performing the song over and over live and has really perfected her performance of the song. Oh, and I'm 99% sure this isn't a studio, just Alex Lopez's house where she's been waiting out the lockdown.
@vasettoo
@vasettoo 4 жыл бұрын
@@j.f.fisher5318 My thoughts on this is that they wanted it to sound as a one take act on the recording sessions, close to a live experience and that was a tricky job for Max Morton because of the loudness war scenario dominating the recording business in the last couple of decades. That's why their actual live recording is mostly preferred and this one tops it all.

And this is why you're one of the top reactors imo my friend. Most reactors are jumping the bandwagon on the one take performance because it's the new hot thing and hunting for clicks, without even knowing the original version, while you take the time and make the effort to get to know the original first. Hats off to you dear sir, and keep doing your thing, you're clearly suceeding it :)

This is one of the best music-reaction channels I've seen on KZbin. The way you break down/analyze the song is always super interesting, especially for someone like me who has very little technical knowledge about music. I've watched several of your reactions and every time felt like I'd actually _learnt_ something. And yeah, this is one of Jinjer's best songs. It might be my favourite; either this or _Home Back._

Chase, I just want you to know, your reaction channel is quickly becoming my favorite. Your analysis is on point, it really brings a new appreciation for these songs that I have heard many times. I love sharing amazing music with others and it brings me joy watching you enjoy these incredible bands. Jinjer is amazing. As a guitarist myself, I have really enjoyed learning their songs and jamming to them. So much fun because they are so interesting. If I can recommend a band for you to check out, lesser known and not many reactions out there of their music. Check out The Absence. They are melodic death metal. One of my favorites. Not many music videos to react to though. Try Enemy Unbound if you want to see a video. Otherwise one of my favorite songs is World Divides. Thank you for what you do!

She’s the real deal for sure. I love the jazzier side of her where she’ll improvise live, even with her growls (check out the live on stage version of Pisces!). To me the stereotype of metal musicians is to try to play everything exactly like it was on the record...but true mastery is being able to improvise with it and still sound good (or, in her case - better!). Also: cat!!! 🐈

One of the things I love about them is just how tight they are. It would be really easy just to focus on Tatiana in their videos but if you notice every video splits camera time pretty equally between the whole band. Also none of them try to take over or put their imprint on a song they play together and mesh everything expertly. I just think that shows how committed they are to each other and the band .

'Smart' must be your favourite word cuz I hear it in every single video. Liking the reggae verse and the guitar sounds less gained here. Yeah can't wait for vocal coaches to crack the one-take too, especially Mary Z who specializes in metal screaming. She did awesome job analyzing Courtney's Holy Roller one-take vocal playthrough and explained 3 types of vocal styles she used there. 7:11 might be the cutest Booyah 😂 How's that for 'Just a Ginger doing Ginger things'? Actually I’m getting more and more impressed by your reaction videos - you are a reaction beast 🤩 Jinjer music is beautiful, but also complex and technically challenging to analyse. That’s why I need several times listen the song to „understand“ and more enjoy the song. But you .... it seems you have 4 ears. Within only one view you hear and explore so many little details (time signatures, drum accents, bass lines, guitar melodies, vocal expressions....) and describe them in a precise and understandable way. Wow 😲 And ... in meanwhile you even find time and mental processing capacity to watch and enjoy the video. Sorry, but that is just awesome! Big thanks ... I appreciate your work and joy you put into those videos. You

Also one of my favorites. The riffs, the blast beats, the clangy bass...and of course the insanely good and varied vocals. I do agree the one take vocal sounds better than the video, all the more impressive that it is indeed a one take and not a composite like studio recordings and music videos often are. Or maybe that is why it sounds better, it's "live" in a different way.

I went to see Jinjer in Albuquerque. A somewhat small venue with a local band opener followed by Sumo Cyco then The Browning and then Jinjer. Of course Jinjer was amazing, but the lead singer of Sumo Cyco, Skye Sweetnam's control of the crowd was INSANE. She came down into the audience and got piggy back rides, ran a mosh pit, calmed everyone down and made them sit and sang a slow tune, ramping it up slowly, having people basically come out of a cocoon to their feet, then amped jumping. Tatiana's showmanship was also amazing and driving the audience like a team of horses pulling her chariot.

Love what you said about making the cymbals the star of the blastbeat! If you like that stuff, check out some Mgła. Any track off Exercises in Futility (conveniently all titled Exercises in Futility) will do!

Hi Chase. I love your reaction and great analysis of this song. I'm also a huge Jinjer fan. Once you fall in love with this band, there's no turning back. I saw them live last year in Cape Town, South Africa. Do you have a South African connection, because your accent sounds South African? Keep the reactions coming 🤘

When I think about raggae metal, I usually think of skindred. But jinjer does it to perfection as well, as expected :D

Jinjer had a date in my hometown on the 13th of March, right after this pandemic was declared (on the 11th). I was debating heavily on going to see them or not, and I ultimately ended up buying my ticket right on the 11th, before even knowing that the pandemic had been declared. I then debated heavily on going to see them again, as I was legitimately uneasy and concerned for my health, but in the end, I went to see them thinking it might be my last concert in quite a while. It did, in fact, end up being my last concert pre-COVID, and probably my last concert this year since my country (Mexico) isn't doing so well with this health crisis, and I'm so glad I got to see them. They were amazing, Tatiana live sounds as good or even better than in the studio, and the musicians are all so incredible as well. And this song, particularly, was insanely fun live, as the whole crowd shouted "Booyah" back at them. Also, fun fact: their last show before having to cancel all their future tours was on Tatiana's birthday (March 15th), at an open air metal festival called Hell and Heaven Fest in Mexico City. A lot of bands that were scheduled to appear canceled because of the pandemic, but since they were already in Mexico, they went through with their performance and ended up in the headlining slot. They went out with a bang, as they deserve.

I´m a huge Jinjer fan and have watched a lot of Jinjer reaction videos. You are by far the most on point with the analysis with your own music knowledge. I absolutely love hearing your take on their music. Also you are the first reactor I really believe when you say you´ve become a fan and that you wanna see them live. I myself have seen them live once in London and my god it was one of the best shows I´ve ever been to. What a bunch of talented musicians, they really blow your mind don´t they? Can´t wait to see them again! 🤘🏻

Your channel is one of my favorites! I enjoy your analysis, your insights and your passion for this content. I've watched several playthroughs with Eugene and Roman, Watched Vlad do a set or two, and now I'm SUPER excited that Tati is getting into the live playthrough sessions! I for one would sit through a full feature reaction of you doing the official, and each of their playthroughs separately. Could be an hour-long reaction video, but I would totally sign up!
