the modern trend of choosing a colour/style and having the bridesmaids wear different dresses around the theme is SO MUCH BETTER than everyone being identical. They were tea length, charcoal black, sort of 50’s in that it was a pretty slim waist and then it has the slightly proofed A-line skirt, and it has these beautiful turquoise flowers on it. Her wedding colors were cream, charcoal black, and turquoise so these dresses fit perfectly. Every girl looked good in her dress, I definitely wore mine multiple times later (I haven’t worn it recently, due to putting on weight 😫). @@SockDrawerDemon I agreed to be a bridesmaid for my stepsister, only to later find out (after dresses were purchased, of course) that none of the bridesmaids were standing with the bride at the altar. 😵I was literally in one wedding photo of the whole thing. Talk about extra pointless. 🙄 I think we as a society need to tell people that it is not just an honor, it's also a BURDEN to be a bridesmaid, so brides aren't compelled to ask a bunch of people to be bridesmaid. 😤 I feel like half the time, brides are just trying not to offend anybody.

As somebody who isn't from the US, it is really hard for me to understand this culture around the bridesmaid's dresses. It looks so uncomfortable for everyone involved. Where I live the bridesmaids just wear whatever they want. The bride doesn't even choose the color (as long as it isn't completely white and thus competes with the brides dress).

500 bucks for a bridesmaid dress is outrageous. I spend 20 when I attended my older brothers wedding and it was on sale. Send a few choices to my sister in law and she liked all of them and not a single one of them was over 50 bucks. We only had a color palette though instead of actually having to dress in the same dress. Our body types were way too different for that and so were our skin tones and hair colors. I'm skinny as fuck, my sister in laws sister is a good bit shorter than me and a lot curvier. There was no way in hell to make the same dress work on both of us EVER. In the end we both found something that worked and was flattering to our body types. Think she only spend around 50 bucks too as she bought her dress secondhand.

Rather then get my friends to wear a dress they don't like, spend a lot of money buying multiple dresses or even ask them to pay I'd just give them a common theme. I'd be like everyone please wear blue or everyone wear florals.

I'm getting married in 2 weeks! It's a very small wedding of 18 people. I told my friends where whatever you want. It's going to be hot so flip flops and t-shirt of you want. Even my dress is tea length! I don't care about everything being exactly matching and being picturesque. What's going to make a good picture is them being there and being happy.

I don’t understand the drama about bridesmaids dresses. If I would celebrate my wedding and invite all my loved ones, with the most important people (besides my husband and family of course) right by my side, I‘d want them to have a good time. Them feeling comfortable and confident and able to enjoy the day with me would be so much more important to me than aesthetic. I‘d rather have a wild, messy and happy wedding than miserable, but aesthetically pleasing guests. It‘s not my day, it’s our day!

These people don't know what friendship is, I don't see any sincere relationship between these girls. And also asking someone to pay for a dress they don't like and is more than they are ready to pay is just horrible. Too much vanity and show-off, not enough sincerity and 0 respect from the bride. Something is wrong if you don't care what your friends like and want.

A bridezilla doesn't dictate things like makeup, unless you don't want red lipstick. No one should have to pay $600 a shot for a bridesmaid's dress. The 2nd bridezilla has no taste.

The cultural difference is stark when I see these videos. In our culture, there is no such thing as honorary maid and our wedding are pretty extravagant. Most of the dresses in this show aren't deserving of it's price... like no offense. Super plain, boring, dull. I have brought a detailed, full of beads, peachy dress for 186$. Spending 500$ is almost the price of a bride dress not her bridesmaids. We also don't have color scheme. Everyone wears within their budget (since they are buying). As long as it doesn't look like the bride dress, you can even wear white (I've once seen friend/family of the bride wearing a two piece white dress). However, it's pretty rare to see someone wear white so I guess everyone avoids it.
@meeeka2 жыл бұрын
I hate the wearing white for bridesmaids; I think Kate Middleton proved why NOT to have a bridesmaid in white. Anyway, my mom told me many years ago that a bride who allowed or chose white, didn't understand the traditions involved with weddings and , "didn't even have taste in their mouths," if they insisted. What a great little Southern expression!
@ubermut1379 Жыл бұрын
Honestly the whole thing in the US with bridesmaids having to wear matching dresses the bride chooses and they have to pay for…. Like why? Why all of this pressure. Relax. As long as they’re not wearing white, who cares? This kind of stuff doesn’t happen everywhere. Also: we call bridesmaids and groomsmen „marriage witnesses“. They can wear whatever they want. We also haven’t always done the bachelor(ette) parties, traditionally, we do polter evenings, which aren’t divided by gender. On this evening, the couple smashes old dishes because shards are supposed to bring luck. This is one of the few things I’m really looking forwards in the future marriages I’m going to attend. Marriage pranks are also quite common in some parts of our country, where the friends of the couple play a little prank on them, usually after the wedding party.

I don’t even want to know what kind of bride I would be because I hate confrontation. If one of my bridesmaids said no to a dress or said they didn’t want to wear something I would give in so fast. Or if I was a bridesmaid and had to wear something I didn’t want to or didn’t feel comfortable in I definitely wouldn’t say anything.

I reflect back to both my sister and my niece's weddings and how they handled the dresses. My sister asked her bridesmaids to agree on a dress in a color that my sister picked out. She left it up to them and they delivered. My niece told her bridesmaids that she wanted them to wear solid black and they got to chose the dress of their choice since they were all of different sizes. They looked fantastic all in different black dresses. None of them went over board and kept the dresses simple and classy.

I've watched a couple of these bridesmaid's episodes, and not once has the bride actually had her dress with her (or even a picture of the bridal gown) for comparison. I think that makes a difference to the often poor choices they make for their attendants' dresses.

Traditionally you should have one bridesmaid per 25/30 guests otherwise you might as well have everyone standing by the altar with you! 😂 Also could not imagine asking my friends to chalk up $600 for a dress to wear once... and then think they’re being unreasonable when they don’t want to pay it.

We don't do bridesmaids in my country but from what I've seen online or read in books, some brides take it too far. Like, imagine having to pay hundreds of dollars for a dress you don't even like, or feel uncomfortable in. Also, what's with people having such a big bridal party? Choose those closest to you to avoid the drama and to be sure they are happy to do it. You can't really have fifteen best friends.
