This is why you never let your bird be with a cat: When I was younger I had my budgie names Gecko and he was outside of his cage, so I put him back in and closed the cage door. And apparently I didn’t put him in his cage, and I let the cat In my room and all of a sudden I hear this horrifying sound/scream coming from underneath my bed. And turns out my cat had my budgie in his mouth... I did everything I could to save my budgie and to get him out of my cats mouth. Eventually my cat let go and my budgie lost a lot of his flight and tail feathers but he is safe and healthy now. DONT LET YOUR BIRD BE WITH A CAT!! YOU ALL HAVE BEEN WARNED!
@Andy-tr8th3 жыл бұрын
That’s so sad!!! I’m glad your bird is okay though. Same goes for birds with dogs too. I remember that a family friend had an old cage in their house and we fixed it up so I could bring my cockatiel, Sparky there but they had two dogs. I was already kind of scared bringing Sparky because I knew that on of their dogs liked to chase birds outside. My mom then took Sparky out of the cage but he flew down to the ground and the dog tried to attack my bird, luckily we stopped the dog, but I’m glad that my bird is safe and that yours is too. Moral of the story: Don’t let your birds around ANY prey animals

I've gotten so much hate from my work colleagues about having birds. The cage is open for most of the day and they can fly wherever they want to explore in the apartment, but most of the time they're just chilling on top of or in the cage, being totally content and grinding their beaks. Still, my colleagues were like "why don't you let them go into the wild? You just keep them locked up, they are unhappy!" NO. If I was to let my birds out in FINLAND, the total opposite of their native country of Australia, they would die very soon. I just get annoyed when people who know nothing about birds loudly tell me what to do and how to treat my pets. Especially since I have had birds since 1998.

@@ris8065 haha!! I am (within 3 years, That’s when I graduate) going to get both. I do want more of an independent bird, because when I go to to Med School and Work, I need a bird who will occupy themselves when I am not home. I would love a cuddly bird, but It just seems unfair and Impractical If I can’t be there 24/7. A cuddly bird would work now, that I am home a lot outside of school and Don’t work yet, but since these birds live 20+ years, I will eventually work and can’t have a bird on me all the time, even if I want to. RN hours (Nurse) you usually work 3 days a week, so the rest I can love on my birds, but If I work long hours on the days I do work, an independent bird is Necessary in my case. Ofc when I’m home the bird will be out and with me. I feel like I’m one of the rare few who thinks years ahead on college and Work, and what by bird should be like. I would hate to have a bird so clingy and cuddly that It would have anxiety and be lonely when I’m not home. I’ve researched for years on the perfect bird for me, and Lovebirds and Parakeets meet my criteria perfectly! I would absolutely love a Quaker, but they are illegal in my state!! Sadly. How is owning a ring neck btw? I’ve heard they are a handful, haha!!

When I was younger I had a cockatiel named Leo, he was the sweetest little guy, he could sing the Adams Family song, he went outside with us, and just was so sweet. He got scared of loud noises, a window was open and there was a truck outside after he flew away we never saw him again. I miss him so so much

I remember my teachers story she said that when it was war, her grandma and grandfather actually hid in the long grasses place and didn't get caught the reason is cause when you go there the birds will fly away and people will know when someone is there but the thing is when they hid the birds didn't leave or fly away so they didn't get caught and now everytime my teacher and her family go to church they buy those type of birds and set them free because some people sell does type of birds Well I just wanted to share the story cause it really touched me
