Scott sounds better live than in official recordings, which is hard to do because of course he’s perfect in the recordings. He adds so much heart and soul when it’s live.

Great reaction! I really like that you've been going back to their beginnings They really started out great but the fourth one, in my opinion, was when they really jelled and got into their groove. It's also a fun one to me.

My favorite things about these Sing-Off performances is how they show us both how talented the group has been since the beginning AND how much more they still had to learn and so much more they would improve.

I'm glad that you went back to the show performances. Some Sing Off sprinkled in with other videos would be ideal. Fun fact: Pentatonix recently performed at MusiCares event in Las Vegas (Grammy weekend) to honor and celebrate Joni Mitchell. Sara B, the judge on this show, also performed at the event. There are media pictures of Scott and Sara talking at the event. The judge/mentor is now a peer. Surreal.

Thanks for the reaction. There is always that enjoyment among Pentaholics as reactors work their way through the Sing Off performances. I am so glad the 12th performance is so spectacular and I always wait in giddy anticipation of it. Just so you will understand the comments and clips, the 2nd and 3rd performances were on the same night. So that is why Ben Folds talked about taking risks and sometimes succeeding and sometime not. The intro to the 4th performance played up his criticism of the 2nd performance.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Pentaholic, but the I grew up in the 60's.. even PTX can't touch Janis Joplin singing Piece Of My Heart.. NOBODY can touch this song.. that's why you've not heard of it! They did a really good job but it still can't compare to the original.. (they were only 19 years old here.., except Kevin and Avi were a little older) Definitely should treat yourself to Janis.. we lost her way too early to drugs and alcohol.

Of course, Pentatonix was a great and talented group. Unfortunately I've never really liked the song. The music and the words just don't gel. Also Janice had a raspy voice and perhaps that suited the song, but the song itself? Well, best it stays in the 60s and leave it out here.

I can still enjoy it, for face value what’s wrong with that lol. I enjoy movies that are remakes that I haven’t seen too. Maybe I’m doing myself a displeasure by not hearing the original but I can’t listen to everything it’s just too much! I enjoy what I can :)
