Everyone gets affected when a musician dies, but Dolores dying got me the hardest. I'm 41, and the Cranberries were the first band I fell in love with as a young girl. I desperately bought all their albums, learnt all their songs and when they split I was so upset. When I was 26, she did a solo tour, and I got to see her live at Coco in Camden, London, and I'll always be so thankful for that. To this day, I still can't bring myself to listen to the last song on their final album.....it kills me. The world lost such a great talent the day she died. RIP Dolores O'Riordan ❤️

RIP Dolores ❤🩹 Got the chance to see her and the rest of the band in a very small venue in 1993; she was a special soul and intimate artist

Hi Clare I saw her funeral the other day, the streets were packed & there was so much sadness of course all saying goodbye to a beautiful soul & quality artist, I'm 63 & the only other time I got emotional about the death of a singer was when Karen Carpenter died

@@chrisalldis3375 I don't know if you've heard The Carpenters cover, Close to you, it's really beautiful. I grew up listening to both bands, but The Cranberries and especially Dolores has had a profound impact on me. RIP Dolores.
@chrisalldis3375 Жыл бұрын
@@KennethLP Karen is my all time favourite just a pure natural tone, & of course a great drummer, Dolores has an advantage of being Irish as they have that yodelling or keening to it where she really stretches the notes, you can hear the accent so clearly or that just might be me.
@KennethLP Жыл бұрын
@@chrisalldis3375 I don't know if it's because I'm from Latin America and English is not my native language, but I really don't know how to distinguish accents in songs. What I do know is that I like both of them and I carry them in my heart, they remind me of my mother.

This song describes the general feelings of my generation. Particularly in the grunge era. We felt unseen, misunderstood, rejected, outcasts. We were melancholic and depressed because we felt too much and we were tired of the shallowness out there. Dolores’ voice was my friend during those times.

Dia dhuit as Éireann ☘️ Hello from Ireland love your reactions to Irish bands and singers . The words Understand what I’ve become it wasn’t my design touched my heart and helped me when I was a teenager trying to come to terms with being gay and not knowing what to do and how my family and the world would treat me . Artist like the Cranberries probably has no idea how much their music touched people .

Love this ,I believe it was Dolores expressing how much she missed her family and Ireland and how lonely it can be doing the required touring for years on end as a rock band.You should check out “No need to argue” instruments are pretty much stripped away just her haunting vocals and an organ.

The Cranberries have always been one of my favourite bands and I just love Dolores voice! She is so missed! 😢 This song felt so meaningful and special to me as soon as i heard it, despite not understanding all of the words! A truly special band! Back then, when I was in my 20's-30s. Makes me feel old because I am to that version of me. Grunge, hair metal, nu wave and pop. Each in their container. Cranberries just kept producing different songs with different sounds. Zombie, Linger, Ode, Dreams. All great - pure, raw and real.

This song is special to me. I distinctly introducing my Irish mother to the Cranberries through their song Linger. It wasn’t much longer after this song came out that we lost her in '98. My father lasted much longer, he passed in 2017, and this song hits me even harder now. It makes one wonder what songs your kids will be listening to when you are gone that gives them that instant reminiscence.

When I first heard this I thought that she sounded so different and a little strange. Then one night I was up late and I was switching the channels when I came upon some girl singing Irish folk music. I immediately thought, yes that is where she gets that. That song always gets me emotional, but what does not when it comes to her singing? In term of meaning, maybe something interesting to ponder , esp when you said her family must be so proud of her: Dolores stated her family was not approving of her career choice in rock and music. And the song was written when she was touring in the US and felt lonely and homesick. I have no knowledge of her family relationship later on as she became the renowned artist and singer she was and what her parents thought about her life then
