Speaking as an atheist here. It is not so much that we on this side of the aisle are trying to put up all the bad in the world on display and asking "Well how can god exist and allow all these things?" When we ask and press on this point what we are really trying to get across is the point that so many people claim that god intervenes on their behalf for the most banal and trivial of things. Finding their car keys, getting a promotion at their job, and finding $20 on the sidewalk so they could buy a free meal instead of paying out of pocket. They take that all as a sign when they can occur as happenstance to anyone prayer or not, all while ignoring the truly horrible things that happen to people every day which god seems completely absent from. They give praise when it works out on their behalf, but don't question why things that truly matter go ignored. It is confirmation bias, and that is what we are really trying to get across when we ask these sorts of questions. Tim here takes the very sarcastic and brilliant route to point out the absurdity of it, and I get this song stuck in my head for days every time I hear it.

Love this one and really enjoy your interpretation of Tim's stuff. Not all reactors seem to get the nuances. Tim has a way of articulating my beliefs in a way I struggle to to do. Thank You God for Tim Minchin 😂

After the latest mass shooting in Texas the other day, someone commented “well at least the victims are now at peace in heaven with God”. I replied where was God when they were shot dead like rabbits? Coffee break? They told me that the Lord had greater plans for them. What a caring selfless God he must be 🤦‍♀️

@@Dr_KAP I know Kappy, it is so sad that they just accept it as a part of daily life. Pretty sure I saw that post of yours. Another channel I like posted a road sign with the words "days since the last mass shooting", in front of the sentence was a rotating number which was set to Zero. I guess like we have signs telling us the road toll or bush fire warning. And they just keep saying that they are different from Australia or anywhere else in the world. Yes the have more challenges, but to try and do nothing...like they have given up....

I've found most (not all) American reactors don't get it but most brits do (probably just a culture difference). I'm Aussie myself so I totally get him. I saw a reactor recently not know what a papist is while watching a song called The Pope song.

Ross Noble is a Nothern English comedian who emigrated to Australia..... and he is truly a genius (along with Tim Minchin).... if I can find a good clip..... I'll let you know..... just a warrning though.... Ross has the kind of mind that I gel with.... those random out there thoughts..... that make people think...... my family couldn't stand my questions...... because they couldn't answer them or understand them lmfao.......

I think the most clear evidence of the switch of the song is the way he says the word "Lord" in "I couldn't see the truth, Lord". It has a sarcastic tone that I felt so evident that I expected what the song was gonna be about. However nothing could prepare me for the levels of sarcasm this piece manages to convey.

Woody Allen Jesus is hilarious, as is "If I Didn't Have You." Dark Side is funny but great commentary on contemporary culture.. The Pope Song is a real hard hitter. I prefer the Sydney Symphony Orchestra version, if only for the spectacle of an entire orchestra shouting out some of his creative lines in unison. White Wine in the Sun is his version of a Christmas song, and shows a very different side of him. And definitely, as the lad below said, check out his 9 life lessons at some point, whether you do a reaction or not. His thoughts on life are worth hearing.

@@rjjsreactions-rk7zh love what you did. Prejudice is the 1 most reviewed first of his. Dark side had 300 seconds of the greatest piano solo ever. And shows his lyrics and how he entertains WITHIUTNMOVING FROM HIS SEAT! AEROPLANE and new stuff- less funny clever more thought provoking. You’ll learn he is award winning on stage in theater as actor in tv as actor in movies as writer on Broadway. Producer The man has conquered everything. Truly

For the record cataract surgery or treatment don’t result in a new cornea and there are no cases of spontaneous remission - but facts not so important as long as it rhymes 😂
@rjjsreactions-rk7zh
@rjjsreactions-rk7zh Жыл бұрын
True enough, Shaun. I agree, although I think he might also have been referring to a wider range of conditions at that point, using the one incident as an example only. There are many conditions, some serious ones even, that people do experience spontaneous remission. (Of course, remission is not a cure.) If I had to pick the side that was less factual, it would be the God claim for sure. 🙂

When we come to watch a reaction, we are looking for your reaction. Make your picture bigger and the video you are reacting to smaller. That way we can see your reaction. We know the video.
@rjjsreactions-rk7zh

The software I'm using won't let me make the video I'm watching smaller (as far as I can tell). I got blasted for having my picture too big on one of my reaction videos, so I try to hit a balance. I might have been off on this one. Of course, the device you watch on can make a difference, too. It looks large on my computer and tv. I'll try to hit a better balance in future.
