Chris' death caught me off guard and hit me like a sledge hammer. He was the rock, the brother, the father, the friend with that voice. The one who we could rely on to hang around. Many had fallen around him and he told us in song of his burdens. Literally. The great Chris Cornell is a one of a kind. Blessed to have been in his presence on a number of occasions. Much love C. From what I understand they were at Jimi Hendrix' old house where he wrote "Purple Haze." Audioslave was just rehearsing there, but they had cameras and just decided to shoot the video on the spot.

I will say this song and this whole album I listened to religiously while I was in very early sobriety. In fact this song really pushed me into sobriety because I was in such pain and really didn’t care about living or dying. This song was very powerful for me. ❤

I always noticed something about the way Chris sings the chorus: the first time it's always just the simple, clean tone; second chorus, his vocals intensifies & turns it up a notch; by the last chorus, he just goes all-out ultrasonic, paint-off-the-walls, top-of-his-lungs, raw emotion.
