And they should be able to see the men around them who don't apply these rules have more success than them. WHY doesn't that shock some sense into them?

Remember what the term "alpha" actually means, at least in programming and engineering. First iteration, or an extremely early test build. An alpha is unfinished and broken in many places. This describes these "alpha males" perfectly as they have a placeholder for a personality.
@mike4179

@stylis666
@stylis666 3 жыл бұрын
And there are more ways to get to the same conclusion. Look at great apes. Is it the biggest bad ass that runs the show? No. Being big and strong is just handy to beat up everyone else and demand "respect" from both the males and the females when personality and social skills are absent. Being the alpha is never a compliment unless you're the woman. Being an alpha as a male basically says you have to compensate for a lack of intelligence, strategy, social skills, etc., by bullying others. That's fine if your entire species just isn't capable of socially growing beyond that, but we're really not that 1 dimensional. Not even apes are and apes like jokes and fun and will have relationships and sex with fun apes and if the biggest male finds out, there will be hell to pay because insecurity and jealousy isn't human exclusive either. Bottom line, alphas that are not female are kind of pathetic in all facets of life and to maintain any illusion of value, the mate has to be pretty dense and dumb so they won't see through it and choose a different and intelligent and funny mate instead. Oh, and there's a reason why there are the alpha and the alpha male. Not alpha females. This is because the alpha is just that and happens to always be the female. The alpha male has to be designated separately because the male is never the alpha and at most the second in command, but usually under about 4 other females besides the alpha. It's quite weird that human men are so insecure in their machoness that they have to subjugate women to pretend they're the alpha and in many countries and cultures they are. And coincidentally, those aren't the most healthy societies with a lot of well being and much respect for human rights. Men trying to be the alpha evidently is toxic masculinity that evidently poisons entire societies.

@@stylis666 Typing up a storm to obfuscate biological processes that can't be bargained with. The top of the hierarchy in evolutionary terms is the one that has the most children. Women aren't alpha as they derive status from the men they are with and are reproductively limited by default. Its why female pop stars and twitch types price themselves out of the market while groupies abound the other way around. Put it simply, men aren't throwing their underwear at Taylor Swift at concerts because it doesn't work.

They will not divorce because he is still upset that his mother divorced their cheating father twenty-five years ago. (Of course, he blames his mother for that, not his father.) Some wolves facts, packs are in fact a reproductive couple, the pups from the year, and the pups from 1-3 years ago. Plus, sometimes, one or two immature young, adopted in the pack. So in that family group, where only two members are grown ups, they tend to be dominant and leaders. Basically the "alpha male" is just a dad. The problem being that the research in the 70s were not done on natural packs in the wild, but on artificial packs made of several adults, forced to cohabite in a zoo's pen. Basically, if we want to compare it to humans, it would be like studying a mix-gender prison, and inferring the social behaviour of humans from our observations.....
@mikearchibald744

Actually quite a bit of research into wolves shows that its the opposite. They actually found more 'matriarchies' but found many packs that were just out and out anarchic. And I think THAT is the real fear.

That right there with the artificial confinement completely screws with the results of the study and we actually have data on this from confined humans aka prisoners that demonstrate that relationships are changed by confinement and this even extends into sexual relationships. Turns out that animals can in fact perceive and thus adapt to their environment even where the constraints placed on that environment are artificial, shocking I know this idea that brain can do a learning and adapt to the realities of circumstances they find themselves in, it is not like this is exactly the evolutionary benefit that brains provide or anything, oh no that is exactly that.

When looking at their behavour the central issue is that the dominant conquering force controls their behaviour, therefore is responsible for the actions of individuals, which are often violent. I went to the boat because I am a weak swimmer and even that was a huge gamle but that's where the life jackets were and I would be damned if I just sat and watched them drown from land. And when I worked with a girl who's bf was abusive and came into our work drunk and emotionally/verbally abusing her I shut him down. Swimming and conflict are things I avoid. I would exercise caution in giving him credit for what he's saying at around 27:00. It sounds a lot more like he's excusing awful behaviour as 'But noody's perfect!', and stating that a real woman won't leave her man or criticise him for that behaviour, but instead accept dealing with it as her duty to an only-human manly man. I know men who have done deplorable things, demanded that their wives stay with them since they admitted to it and were 'seeking help', then got that 'help' from the church (read: total absolution without question) and then banned any reference to that behaviour even when (or especially when) it continued or resurfaced later on. Saying 'but I have a problem and I know it' is a very common get-out-of-jail-free card for abusers/manipulators and a pass to repeat that abuse (whatever kind it is and to whatever degree) later. Though, I suppose it might be more kind to give him the benefit of the doubt and I might just be a cynic who's been fooled in these ways before. EDIT: I hope that didn't come across as mansplaining or 'well ACK-shully'. It wasn't meant that way!

A few years ago I had a friend that went full-on sex-code stuff. The man was kind of broken having experienced some bad relationships, women that actually cheated on him. He became bitter and convinced himself that he couldn't trust any woman, that they were always playing games, and the only way to actually be happy was to become alpha. I always tried to push back his shit and manipulative behavior, but as I was completely unexperienced (forever alone) I had to admit he had some good points, I was always having doubts, but I refused to believe women were so "simple", even though i didn't even had girl-friends (yeah I was really autistic)... Fortunately didn't give in, and got super lucky finding a girl that became my gf for almost a decade now, I trust her completely and she makes me super happy. We're both comfortable being autistic together, lol. That friend got into a few relationships from then, but I don't know what happened to him. So yeah, I was super close to fall into all this crap, and when you don't have a realistic impression of human relations and the culture around you have this "men and women, different species" mentality, it's so easy to, out of desperation, accept these things at face-value.

From an evolutionary perspective, it makes sense that people, not just women, would have some biological attraction to healthy, stable partners. Still, human psychology is far more complex than that. The book seems to be the same cliché nonsense seen in the dating genre for decades. As an old married guy, here's my two cents. Be real. Be friends. Romance is always up and down, so if there's no connection beyond the romantic, you're gonna have problems. What do James Bond, Han Solo and Indiana Jones have in common? Besides being outdated movie stereotypes? At least two of them failed to form a long-term relationship with a woman, high quality or otherwise. In fairness to Bond his wife and more recently a potential long term partner died, but I'd say that's a warning sign that he's not a man to get into bed with. His had sex with/died ratio is worrisome, even to another man. Solo had a kid but failed to form a successful relationship with the mother until much later in life. We don't know how long the second iteration of that relationship lasted. Solo did get together with Princes Leia eventually, but I don't think the official canon records how long that lasted. A successful long term relationship might start with physical attraction, but it's emotional attraction that is more important. In my case a sense of humor is very important, as being 30 lbs overweight and bald probably isn't pulling the birds as much as I'd like. Shared hobbies helps too.

From what I recall you are correct about Han and Leia''s relationship timeline being unclear. While "Bloodlines" does confirm they were married, it also states that they lived apart most of the time and would go long periods without seeing each other because Leia was busy with her duties, and Han was out in the gallaxy racing starships and finding exciting things to do. They were still technically married when he died, although estranged. (A bit of a confusion between cannon based on he books and the movies, since Ben is not their child.) If we start their relationship in The Return of the Jedi and end it with his death in The Force Awakens, their relationship lasted 30 years. But was it a happy 30- years for this particular "alpha" male? Obviously not. By the way, I am happily and wonderfully married to a man deemed a "beta" by his "alpha" brother. He is (by his own observations) on the softer side of physical appearance,. He also plays video games and is non-confrontational. He is the most wonderful human I have ever met. "What do Indiana Jones, James Bond, and Han Solo have in common?" Indiana Jones and Han Solo were played by the same man, and James Bond played his dad. ...was that not what he was going for?

Do men really want to be treated like kings? You have a press conference at 3:00; let's do better than last time. There are a few gaps in the food supply, so you'll need to remedy that. The kingdom to the right is still dragging on about that border issue, so you'll need to meet with them. You're wearing a T-shirt, so you're going to need to change before we go out because that's not permitted. You need to be pleasing to the eye for the public. You have about 10 charity events to attend this week, so let's work on our appearance a bit. Also, you'll need to contribute to each charity so they know you support them; not just dollars... participation as well. Have you reviewed the new proposed laws? We're on a time crunch. : )

I read this ENTIRE BOOK! It plagiarized the poem "Invictus" by the poet William Ernest Henley, page 85 ("master of my fate, captain of my soul"). The well-written parts: stolen by others. The badly-written patrs: probably original. You rock, Emma!

The problem with him having an editor for his book is that it would become a short article, not a book. I think he has watched too many heroic Hollywood movies and needs a reality check. If anyone sets specific criteria for finding a partner they are almost sure to fail.

Must be the reason why a growing number of young women are single, 30-40%. Not to say anything about women above 40 that are unmarried..

@@parapoliticos52 You lost me? Are there more single women because they can't find alpha males (lol)? Their expectations are to high? Or because women are more independent and capable?

Many reasons: -Family oriented men seek suitable partners -Many males are feminized and unattractive to women -Strong males can't be bothered with "liberated" women's unreasonable demands and settle for occasional sex or seek only sex from a relationship. Of those bachelors those that eventually seek , with age, to built a family, search for "unspoiled goods" for partners, usually younger and more traditional women. - most family oriented quiet types good ol' boys are taken by their mid 20s - unmarried less dominant older young men stay.away from women that intimidated them and settle for more manageable and agreeable partners -growing number of males live asexual lifes at least for extended period of times

Long hair is historically masculine, albeit not the most practical. Hair may glam up people, but it requires more maintenance. Short hair is easier to take care of. If anyone wants long hair, go for it! If they want short hair, go for it! If they want to shave their head, go for it!
