Here in America, Swedish Lutheran pastors have a well earned rep for long sermons. So, as the story goes: three pastors, a Swede, a Norwegian and a Dane were captured by the Gestapo and sentenced to be shot. The kommandant of the prison told them that before they were shot, he'd grant them their final wish, within reason. The Danish pastor asked for some special pastries from Tivoli that he remembered as a child. The Nazi agreed and sent one of his soldiers to get them. The Swedish pastor said he'd been working a special sermon for many years and would like to be allowed to give it. The Kommandant agreed, and then turned to the Norwegian pastor. "And what would your final wish be?" "Just shoot me before the Swede preaches," was his response.
