I wanted to join a sorority until I found out I had to pay insane fees, buy a bunch of not cute shirts, and buy matching outfits if I got in to wear to sporting events cause *sisters*. I'm so glad I decided not to because halfway through the school year I was riding on the bus and these two sorority girls were hardcore making fun of another girl in their sorority saying she didn't belong in. Then one of them got off and the other started talking to me (she was actually super nice) and told me that the one that had gotten off had just gotten mad at her the night before for not baking cookies good enough. AND a girl in one of my education classes straight up dropped out of class because she had too many sorority events to attend all the time and literally didn't have time to do her classwork (and we weren't even teaching in schools yet, just regular classwork). To be honest, buying friendship is hella sus.
@jayrizzle92262 жыл бұрын
Two things, number 1 you were probably not attractive enough to be accepted into the sorority and 2 you were and probably to this day are still too broke to buy that friendship and resorted to calling it sus because you ain't even got a roll of pennys 😂

i was friends w a frat guy last year and he told me that after fall semester rush a guy cried because he didn't get into the frat my friend was in, and then spring semester rush they were actually gonna let him into the frat, but when they found out he had cried before they took back the admission. i will just never ever ever understand this culture that promotes toxic masculinity and toxic friendship. i get that some aren't "that bad" but as a whole i think the toxicity far outweighs the benefits. just my opinion but yeah i can't help but have an unfavorable opinion of the entire system at this point. i kind of wish it would just be abolished so people could find healthier and deeper ways to establish connections and make friends.

I had a friend from high school that went to college and joined a fraternity. It totally screwed up his personality. He became overtly mean spirited, cruel, arrogant, misogynistic, and he didn't have that same smile anymore. It's actually really sad to watch.

It truly breaks my heart to see how terribly people have been treated during rush/recruitment. As someone who is in greek life I understand that not all organizations are like that. I hate the awful reputation frats/sororities get because mine has helped me feel alot less lonely during 2020. That being said I condemn any group who hazes. They should not be tolerated.
@legalfictionnaturalfact39698 ай бұрын
Well yeah sweetie, that's the point, you get to feel "not lonely". But in a cult of silly kiddos who pay for their friends and need external validation so very badly... You are definitely fully alone whether you realize it or not. Time will show.

not really my confession but a weird thing that happened: During freshman year of college my friend was really excited to join this sorority and she was gushing about the RUSH process the day before. A day later I tried reaching out to her and she seemed shaken and had a whole moderate deep cut I didn't see before and said she couldn't say anything. Yeah, I don't see her much with her sorority and I think she transferred? No one has seen her since. But, yeah I'm not saying all greek life is like this but some seem so suspicious.
