Ice is actually devastating on blades... it sucks. You let the ice "proof" and it should be okay. If you've ever owned a snow cone machine they tell you to let the ice warm a bit until it turns clear before cutting/shaving it. I just hope they don't ruin the blade. I was thinking the same thing when they did the first test cut in the other video. A physical block for the blade itself is good, near the top so it can't gain momentum and break it. I would also suggest something you could firmly attach the rope to, perhaps a loop you could tie the rope around and/or clamp one of those carbine hooks around. Edit: Okay based on the second video, they seem to have a rope attachment system in place at least.

I don’t believe the blade is wide enough. If the blade was wide enough to fit the whole space in between the 2x4’s, nothing would be able to stop it because nothing can get to the wheels. OR alternatively, make the routing deeper and the 2x4’s closer together so that the wheels are *inside* the 2x4’s, and not in between them.

That would mean making a whole new blade, the easiest thing would be to make a wooden frame or bracket at the bottom that holds the things in place, kind of like the frames with the circle that held people's necks in old execution times.
