+leviathanmg Yeah, that was perfect! I don't think a screenwriter could have written something better. So perfect considering the double meaning of the word 'bomb'. Also the fact that Maher prefaced his line by mentioning that he was going to do standup overseas for the first time.

+David Keogh Consider this though: An American life is worth more than an Afgani one...to an American. Isn't the flip side also true? That, to an Afgani, an Afgani life is more important than an American one? This is trotted out often. How Americans value fellow Americans over others. Or white people. Or (fill in any team). And they are being condemned for that. But I suspect that each group holds highest affinity for people like themselves. And less for "other". It comes down to tribalism. And proximity.

valgehiir Liberal win? Nobody won, but the "socialists" and the "green party" are expected to form a government with support from the former communist party. The liberals were in an alliance with the Swedish "conservatives" in Sweden up until now. But the political scale is extremely compressed in Sweden and they are all pretty much the same, far left of center.

The difference between urban and rural liberals is an important distinction to make. Out in the hills of Upstate NY, for example, the liberals have guns, are NRA members, go to church every Sunday, and still think that gay rights are important, climate change is an existential threat, and the rich should be taxed more. The Democrats have a wide base, and they need to pay better attention to appealing to more of it if they want to win.

To amuse you all with your brain hearing what it wants to hear, listen to 12:33-36 and think/listen for "May 2015(twenty fifteen". Then, listen to it again and think/listen for "May 2013(twenty thirteen)". Your brain will automatically adjust it to hear whichever number you're thinking/listening for. When you think 2015, you'll hear the "f" in fifteen. When you think of 2013, you'll hear the "th" in thirteen. ENJOY!

I know you're being sarcastic but some freedoms can be dangerous and therefore not really freedom in a real sense. The right to bear arms might have been more appropriate 200 years ago when the constitution was passed, it's surely not so now. Here in the UK people can't own guns freely but doesn't mean those few who do (special dispensation) go around shooting people. In the US, the right to bear arms has created a gun culture and that is why there are so frequent shootings and mass killings by loners and weirdoes. And before you say guns would provide victims with an opportunity to defend themselves, how would shoppers in a mall defend themselves if some one armed with an automatic rifle, loaded with plenty of rounds, decided to go on a rampage?

The difference between Europe and the US about the Israel issue is the Jewish influence in society. Yes, there are muslims here who feel a retarded kind of muslim brother loyalty, but their influence is zero compared to the other Europeans. Same with the neo-nazi's btw. Europeans see that the Palestinians are surpressed and they have an opinion about that. The Muslim influence in Europe works the other way around. Because a certain group misbehaves, people have something against muslims and vote for radical right wing parties who in general are in favor of Israel (mainly because they are surpressing the Palestinians). The extreme right of course have something against everyone, but they are just a small group.

In 2012 a study was conducted to create a freedom index. They looked at thing like financial freedom, freedom of speech, human rights violation etc. The USA, the country of freedom, came in at only rank 7. So to answer the question 'what does the USA have that makes them so free compared to others?' is one that can not be answered, because it assumes the wrong premise that the USA is actually the country with the most freedom.

In regards to what the General said during Overtime about WW-II. I am terribly appalled about the mass genocides the Nazi Party horribly delivered to the Jewish people, for no other reason than ignorance and the beleif that they were worst human beings because their comunity had more money than the average after the economy crashed in 1930. But, if you look at it in perspective and thoroughly, the Nazi weren't the only ones commiting Cultural Genocide throught out WW-I and WW-II, and when the Russians found the first Extermination Camps the world was horrified regarding the manner of the attrocities, nevertheless, in rsponse to the view of the General and the way many of us were tought in school, this was at the end of the war and not the reason for war. In my opinion, all of the coming wars weren't so popular because we falsy persue the fact that we fight for a bigger good, the awful truth is that all wars throughtout history have an economic appeal firrst and foremost. I aggree with Bill that Religion is still a "Haven" for stupid ideas and usually takes this place as a higher moral value, because it is untangible, and this two reasons why Isis and other islamic extremists are able to capitalize many followers, on ignorance of faith and the knowledge that we are only into the "War business" because it is really a Business.

Please don't feed the trolls. Yes the economic impact of hunting and fishing has obvious conservation benefits as we are the largest single source of wildlife and land conservation funding in the country. No other source comes even close. The number of dollars generated from hunting and fishing licenses sold in the United States equated to roughly $14.6 billion (with a B) per the National Fish and Wildlife service. Of which 100 percent (14.6 billion with a B) goes directly to wildlife and habitat conservation. So no one can really argue that hunters and fishermen and women aren't responsible for nearly all conservation dollars available today. Thus we have the largest stake in the game and all those animals people like Paulo love would be in very big trouble without those dollars, so in fact people like Paulo should be thanking us, but that is not what I came on here to talk about... What I find the most disturbing about this whole anti hunting movement is that that they think hunters are "blood thirsty murderers" because they get "joy out of the taking of a life." Ummm if anything it is the opposite. That deer or duck means a lot more to me than it ever will to you because I prepared for it, worked for it, took it humanely, prepared it, and then put food on my table. I take no life for granted, so don't think because you see me grinning over a deer that I am in the throws of blood lust, it is the opposite, I am in fact celebrating that animal and the memories it will provide me the rest of my life. That smile means that I am proud of the work that I put in to be successful and thankful for the food it provided. 99% of hunters don't feel joy in killing, we derive pride in success, and admiration for the animal that gave its life so that we can have a proper meal...Lastly this idea that humans did not evolve to eat meat or that we don't need to hunt...ummm we have canine teeth and humans could not have evolved without eating meat because in order for our brains to develop into the amazing organ it is today it needed complex proteins, which you can only get through eating meat. I leave on this, any non hunter that says they love animals more than a hunter does not understand hunting at all. Ducks, deer, elk, pheasant, etc. might be something pretty to look at for you, or cute or whatever, but that animal will always mean a lot more to me than it will to you. I spend hours and hours of my limited free time scouting, reading, preparing, and emersing myself in nature to truely understand my quarry, and thus develop a respect for that animal that you couldn't possibly get any other way. So don't pass judgement on hunters because someone who doesn't hunt spews hate about it, instead how about talk to an educated hunter and ask them why he or she does it and many will give you the same response I just gave.

Bill was spot on pointing out that enjoying killing animals is a mental illness. And that it is right next to killing people. That said, when I grew up in Phoenix we all had guns, and not one of us ever even dreamed of using one on a human being. Except when a friends sisters boyfriend pointed one at us. His older brother, who had been in Vietnam, took that guy out in the desert and killed him later. You can call it murder, but I was standing right there. If someone points a gun at you so he can fuck your 12 year old sister with impunity, you can never assume he won’t come back and pull the trigger. Just like the cops say that a threat is neutralized when the offender is disarmed…unless the cops are on the receiving end. Then they can find the guy 40 years later and kill him “in the interest of officer safety.”.

Damn I feel like Bill Maher has taken a real sharp turn to the left. I liked his show because I agreed with a lot of the points he would make, but now it gets me frustrated that he doesn't have anyone intelligent giving the other side of the issue like he used to Chris Hitchens comes to mind. I mean not all hunting is sport. If you don't want to eat gmo infested food or to eat an animal that has been enslaved it's whole life and force fed fake food and steroids hunting withing legal parameters makes a lot of sense, especially with deer populations as strong as they are in many places. Then he is pissing on the reporters. He can't have it both ways he can't want reporters to be able to report on meatpacking industries, but not able to report on terrorism. If we don't have reporters there then only the terrorists propaganda will get out. The conservative guy is right (one of the first times I've ever said that) Bill can't go on about the threat of Islam and the injustices in the country's that practice that faith, but then not defend our reporters who try to present our message to the world by showing what is happening in these countries that practice this faith. I mean if Bill gets killed by a Muslim for the anti-islam shit he says, then it would be in part because people around the world including peaceful members of islam never stood up and squashed down these terrorists, they were all too busy saying ah what's the threat what's going to happen. What's going to happen is you can't even make a joke anymore in many parts of the world and it starts with this far left position that ah just leave them alone and let's not get involved.

And it’s not the hunting rifle. It’s the automatic “hunting rifle” that can kill all the fish in the barrel in 3 seconds.

I miss these days of Real Time, when the humor was intelligent and witty. The Trump stuff provided plenty of comedy but the humor writes itself in reality, all the jokes feel dumb and shallow

Yes. Finally a non vegan who sees hunters as unstable crazy people for enjoying the act of killing something that doesn't even know you're there. Cowardice at its best.

i used to be against killing any animal but after i took some wild life management course i realized something we have WAY TOO MANY DEER. with the elimination of the predators their populations grow out of control and its not sustainable, the problem is that hunters could help a lot keeping populations of them down for example but here is the problem they don't shoot enough female deer, their what need to be culled because shooting male deer doesn't help, some beta male will just take its place. What needs to happen is a limit on male deer shot but NO limit on female deer, actually i think a quota should be set because we need to cull these things and keep their numbers down so that they don't decimate forest's plant life and they don't become such a issue that they enter population centers and get hit by cars. Proper management needs to be handled, so im not against hunting, i do think its better if the meat is either used or if possible i think sent to a food bank after its prepared or something because i hate waste. but as long as a gun is used for hunting and the person is properly trained and has a permit that is fine in my book. What i don't like is hand guns and other weapons because those are used simply to kill people. But if you won't agree on trying to get rid of them how about training you can have a gun but you need certification you know what your doing gun safety and training so you don't do something stupid. If you can't prove your going to be responsible then NO you don't have the right to bear arms because it says it because a well regulated militia meaning some form of training and control is intended not unfettered freedom

The question is not "do people really need to hunt?", the question is "does the government have the right to tell people whether or not they can hunt?". If you answer "NO" you are walking down the path of liberty. If you answer "YES" you are walking down the path of communism, fascism, socialism and any other system which allows the ruler to dictate their opinions to the people. The next question is then, "what are the fundamental principles of America regarding liberty vs government control?". These things were worked out 270 years ago yet they're still being argued. Ridiculous. Btw, I am totally against hunting as a sport. But others are not. I respect their rights, I expect them to respect mine which they normally do.

This is so much bull. It is the usual right wing bull but it is still bull. The government is done by "we the people" and when "we the people" decide to regulate the behavior of "the people" in any way including by regulating firearms and/or hunting it is not Dictatorship, Fascism or Marxist-Leninism it is an act of self discipline. Don't like the outcome? Then campaign for a vote to repeal, but in the mean time obey the law or accept the consequence of your actions. No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine; if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.[22] [Donne's original spelling and punctuation]

General Anthony Zinni (retired) is par for the course as far as America’s military elite is concerned. As far he and his ilk see it there is no problem too big, too small, too nuanced that it can’t be solved with bombing and sending in troops. He was offended by Obama saluting with a coffee in his hand but he does the military more dishonor by acquiescing to torture which goes against all rules of combat, both written and unwritten.

Some good questions, short answers to very complicated issues, biased and very intuitive rather than researched replies, and barely any facts based on views from both sides of the argument. This is not as bad as fox news but it's still difficult to listen to. The interview initially seemed like it was going to a really good place, and then it just digressed
