Jaguars are Jaguars, they have been and always will be different than Mercs, Bimmers, Audis. That's what makes them special. Pull up at any high-end restaurant, hotel, country club & you'll get more looks than the guy in the Mercs.

Pity you don't get the diesel twin turbo 3.0 V6 in the USA as we get in the UK and Europe, that's 275 bhp for upto 2015 and 300 for the 2015 onwards and.... 700nm of torque that more that the 550bhp supercharged V8 (680nm) and the best bit is that the diesels get 40+ mpg. I have a 2010 XJL Portfolio 3.0D and I get about 47mpg at 70mph and about 38mpg average and still a 0-60 of 6 seconds, not bad to an oil burner that is as quite as a petrol.

Video Alchemy. Americans won't even consider buying diesel cars and in the Jags case their right, filthy things. To burn off soot they go into re-gen and pump clouds of pollution into the air. The driver does'nt even know it's happening. Mine gave all sorts of trouble with constantly going into limp mode because of clogging dpf and egr valves. The anti emissions technology is so advanced that the Jaguar dealership could not sort it. Mine was a 2012 3 litre V6 XF portfolio, which I had from new. I drive a lot in my job, these problems began at 40,000 miles. Glad to get shot of it for a Lexus, incredibly reliable.

And at a $86000 price tag the same beautiful car 8 years later in all its luxurious glory can be bought for £11000. I know because I did and it is awesome. So if you fancy one now don’t be afraid they were very well built and will bring you much joy.

This is my next car....moving on from BMW X5 into a subtle sports stretched sedan like this or S550. Jags are different no doubt. Test driving one this weekend.

@@dawitkelete8258 congrats! Deff jealous haha. Life got in the way and I haven't been able to pull the trigger yet. Is it a 2013? I've been doing more reading on them and apparently tire wear is an issue but it doesn't seem the tires are too bad price wise considering it's a luxury vehicle.

I got a ‘13 XJL 5.0 Portfolio in 2020 for $26: one owner, no accidents, and TWO 7,500 mile services each year from the same dealer and the owner only averaged 3,000 miles a year! My sexy Leaper came with only 21,500 miles. British Racing Green (classic Jaguar color & the best, IMO,) with Cashmere/Truffle interior. Don’t let the length intimidate you; it handles better than either of my Corvettes and is an absolute monster on the road. By all means get the ‘L’ if you often have second row passengers. They will appreciate it. There’s seemingly enough space back there to raise a small herd of Llamas. Aside from the Vettes, I’ve had Benz (which is as common as an Impala these days - wouldn’t have another for free) BMW, Lincoln, Cadillac and even an Olds way back when. I love this car more than any I’ve owned. It fits me like my favorite jeans, was the first pre-owned auto I’ve had, and from the second I sat in it I felt like it had been mine forever. My plan is to get a ‘17 F-Type in a few years but won’t sell this car. Jaguar is the only form of ground based transport worth having, and with so few out there, you will be part of an exclusive club. Jag limits only 1 dealership in any city per 1,000,000 residents. You will ALWAYS get attention, so this is not a car for one who wishes to be part of the crowd. Nothing incognito about this beauty. And my ASL won’t allow the car to exceed 190 mph just in case you let someone else drive it (you won’t.) I recommend an extended warranty, but do your homework. Several dealerships I talked to wouldn’t even accept Car Shield. Long story long, if you can afford to maintain this masterpiece, GET ONE. Cheers then!

Two of the most important features of cars in this class are ride quality and quietness when the windows are rolled all the way up and how it compares to class leaders like the Lexus LS and the Mercedes S class, can you commnet on that ?

I hate the adaptive cruise control. I like to have full control. The adaptive cruise control fallows too far from car. Really don't like that.
