To all the haters on here. How do you know you wouldn't have done the same? If you worked on wall street and someone introduces to this little scam, and you make some money, ( an money changes everything and everyone ). Than you get greedy, and it becomes like an addiction, you start pulling another scam here and there. Before you know it, you're in the big leagues and in over your head. I know I have done many wrong things in my life and have hurt people. There is no amount of sorry I can say that will UN-do the damage I did. I can not judge this man, because I am not without fault. I know I'm not a saint. Far from it. I have paid my debts to society. But still, there are some who will NEVER forgive me. I don't hold it against them either, or blame them. If this guy didn't rip you off personally? Than shut up. No one on here can say they've never hurt anyone ( just because you didn't steal from people, does NOT mean you haven't really hurt people. There are MANY ways to really hurt people ). Most of us have made some bad choices in life that could have landed most of us in jail and / or prison, and society would think the same of any of us. They'd judge us the same way you are all judging this man. ( totally unforgiving ) it don't matter, if you changed your ways and trying to do the right thing now. Many will never forgive you, and think you should NOT be allowed to live. Many people forget that their shit stinks too. I feel like, because of my own past. I can not judge him, or anyone else!!! I have turned my life around, but for some, it don't matter. An it's easier than you think to get yourself deep into the criminal element sometimes, weather on Wall Street or elsewhere. What he did was WRONG. I'm not justifying what this man did. Just saying, before you start judging others, better make sure there are no skeletons in your closet.

***** this guy has paid millions back to the victims and keeps doing so, he also does motivational speeches and discusses how not to be a victim to people like he used to be, with this being said i believe he has and is doing everything in his power to be forgiven and to be a decent person in society. I also think i can relate to him, not on his higher scale but at the same time I've emptied peoples bank accounts and ruined families lives by doing illegal activities, i to once lived a good life from taking from people and quite possibly harming peoples health and lives, this is what greed does, i believe im doing my best to redeem myself to the families I've harmed, i now work a 9 to 5 with a family i take care of. Anyone can turn there life around and if there is a god only he has the right to judge, and if there is no god then nobody can judge someone because they're not that person, they've never walked in the same path as the one bein judged.

***** Just because you haven't stolen from people on a major scale like this guy did, doesn't mean you haven't really hurt people. Don't kid yourself. It's none of your business what I've done my past is my past. But I know I really hurt a lot of people and I don't feel I'm in a position to judge anyone else unlike you who clearly loves casting the first stone as if you are without fault. If he is paying back people he stole from, than at least he's trying to make right some of the many wrongs he did. Were you one of his victims that lost everything? If not, than what he did didn't effect you. You should look at you have done to others in the past before JUDGING. Have you ever tried to make things right with people you've done wrong? Don't tell me you have NEVER done anyone wrong ever. That is Bullshit. Everyone has. I can see how easy it would be to get in over my head the way he did if I could pull a little scam here and there and made the kind of money he did. At least he is trying to make things right. He'll never be able to undo all the damage he's done, but at least he's trying. Can you say the same about the people you've hurt in your lifetime? My guess you've probably never even tried to make things right with those you've wronged you probably just make excuses to justify hurting others in whatever way you have. That's what 99.9 % of most people do instead of at least trying to make things right. Now, I have said all I'm gonna say on this. I am NOT going to engage you in a never ending argument. I'm muting you after this post, NOT going to continue to argue with you. You're too busy on your high horse, being all self righteous.

ITIsFunnyDamnIT Yeah, everyone has hurt someone, but there's a HUGE difference between hurting people by accident and hurtiing people intentionally by doing certain things and knowing pretty well that their lives are gonna be destroyed by that! Also behavior means NOTHING if the motive is wrong. You can't say he's really sorry just because he's trying to act right. Maybe he's just sorry he got caught and is now putting on a show. You can't exclude that.
@ITIsFunnyDamnIT

Linda B Everyone on this planet has INTENTIONALLY hurt someone at some point or another. No one is totally innocent of that. Just because you may have never stolen from someone doesn't mean you didn't do or say something that really hurt them. We all are guilty of doing intentional things that have hurt others, weather for our own self gain or whatever. Now he was also addicted to drugs and that lifestyle you don't have to be a rich wall street crook to steal from people for drugs or whatever. May he who is without sin cast the first stone. Get off your high horse, and stop Judging someone, and ( what You THINK ) their motives are. Only time will tell that. Maybe he's still a wolf. Than again, maybe he's learned his lesson. Some criminals get out of jail / prison and learn their lesson and decide to straighten up. It's NOT mine or your place to JUDGE. You're NO saint. NO one is. It's not like he was a serial killer or pedophile. Robbing people was wrong, and yes that destroys lives too. He got caught and he did his time, and seems to be trying to pay back people he stole from.

He got less than two years of jail time. Marijuana possession can get you up to 3 years. Selling/cultivation can get you 5. Other drugs can put you in jail for more than 15 years. Meanwhile, the people who effectively fucked the economy are bailed out by the banks and have the opportunity to not only start again, but to keep their money. This is the problem with this country. People who genuinely need help (i.e. drug addicts) receive more jail time then cheats and corrupt individuals.

I find Jordan Belfort's story fascinating. It's important for people to realise the reality of this guy though. He has made some terrible decisions, and (appears) to be trying to repent. Thousands, if not millions of criminals try to do the same thing. That is not to say he should be instantly forgiven. But the messages and words of wisdom he gives in interviews like this can hopefully be really taken on board.

Ghost572 My point is that a lot of criminals (if not most), don't actually set out to be bad people and to harm others. That is not an excuse. But it is useful in rational for understanding criminal behaviour, and how to attempt to prevent it. Unless you're an idiot, you'll notice my comment wasn't necessarily directed at Belfort. But rather it takes his "story" and applies it to a broader group of people.
@Ghost572
@Ghost572 9 жыл бұрын
Tyler Robbins What I see is someone who is manipulated by his story. Like oh well he said sorry and he's paid some money back, he must be sorry. Like how do you think he didn't set out to be bad and harm others? you mean he didn't think about it actions, so its somehow okay. Like, well its okay because I didn't think how it would effect other people, thats called being selfish and not thinking about others and if anything should result in punishment. Two years for this clown to be running around making millions isn't enough, even more so now he gets to be praised for it as he goes into the regret and repent for my sins stage. You see the same shit with druggy celebrities they make a load of fuck ups, write a book about how some terrible trauma changed them into something that wasn't "them" and then make out they've come back to their former self who was a good little angel. Basically their just full of shit.
@929heyhey
@929heyhey 9 жыл бұрын
Ghost572 I think you need to take a beat and try and come back and look at the bigger picture. My original comment was referring to criminals in general. And yes, to answer your question - I believe many don't think about their actions harming others. Don't get me wrong, that in itself is inherently wrong. Also, because this comment isn't purely around Belfort, I'm not attempting saying he is completely rehabilitated. I'm not qualified to comment on that. But to reiterate, my comment was a generalist statement, that applies to a lot of different people.
@Ghost572
@Ghost572 9 жыл бұрын
Tyler Robbins Yeah I see that you talking about a generalized view does make it open to both ways. Like I was more looking at people who have commit crimes, didn't care about it and pretend their sorry when really they don't care at all. At the same time I can agree that actually some people have commit crimes and are legitimately sorry about it and its more of a bad time for the person who felt somewhat like they had to do what ever crime they commited. I was more thinking about the scrummy criminals and hadn't really given much thought into people who feel they have to commit crimes to get by. so ty for getting me to look at both sides, which is something I am actively aiming to do more for various reasons.

+Hugh Cipher hes still corrupt this is just another con lol... hes actually making money off of pretending to be sorry, it doesnt get any more pathetic. Federal prosecutors made the allegation in court documents filed on October 11, which were obtained by Radar. Out of the court-rdered $110,362,993.87, the documents claim, “Belfort has paid a total of $11,629,143.64 toward the restitution judgment.” Despite an order to give up half of his gross income, the documents allege, “Mr. Belfort has taken the position that … he is no longer obligated to comply with the court-ordered payment plan.” Following that deal, the government claims to have received $382,910 in 2007, $148,799.19 in 2008, and $170,000 in 2009. But then, they allege, Belfort decided he was done. (notice how the payments are decreasing). In 2010, the documents claim, he made absolutely no payments. But in 2011, “Belfort made payments totaling $21,000 toward the restitution judgment,” the papers claim, despite the fact that one of his companies took a tax deduction for a supposed $24,000 restitution payment. In 2012, the papers claim, Belfort paid $158,000 - well less than his reported income. *2013, he has allegedly been paying $3,000 per month, despite “earnings from other sources, including, for example, speaking engagements” that net him upwards of $30,000 a pop*
