What annoys me is the fact that taxpayers money goes towards PAYING for criminals such as my dad to be defended for crimes they have committed. He had no defence and the defence barrister was scraping at the bottom of the barrel but it’s purely a waste of money and I think murderers who had intent should have no access to legal aid whatsoever

The true function of a lawyer is to advise you as to you what your rights and obligations are with regard to the system, not to devise creative framing strategies to get you out of crimes that you have committed. As long as morally bankrupt people are allowed to exercise this profession they system will continue to underperform and fail to fulfill its true purpose. The lawyer who said that it was a bad result when his client was sent down for stealing a car, which he actually admitted to, is a prime example of this immoral behavior.

These guys aren't too bright. How many times do you need to get arrested for the same offense before you at least up your game or switch tactics (or--gasp--get a real job)? And the one who can't even follow his lawyer's instructions at trial...sheesh. He'll probably try to say he had "inefficient counsel" when he's sitting in prison, but he's the one who blew it.

@carlzeiss48713 жыл бұрын
The most galling thing about these cases is that the public endure the crime, pay for their defence and then the limp wristed judges or magistrate do not award a realistic punishment. Even if a lengthy custodial sentence is handed down, the prisons are a too cushy to be any form of appropriate punishment. Accordingly, there is no real deterrent to this sort of pond life and the poisonous cycle starts over again and again. Absolutely ridiculous!
