But if you listen to the end of the video and see how cold hearted Steven's mother is towards Evelyn. I have no respect for Steven's mother for the way she acted and speaks of her grandchildren's mother. You have to truly live in Evelyn's life in the Philippines to truly understand what she was going through to grow up with nothing and then to have everything she could ever wish for and to have a Man who Loved her and cherish her and to lose everything how that would make anyone feel so don't George Evelyn because all of the evidence that they claim that she was involved and was the one behind it all was never proven or shown in the video.. this is my opinion and thoughts if you don't like it you can go f*** yourself cuz I know she's Evelyn is still currently serving her sentence she was given 40 years now she's 19 years into her sentence or 20 years now with another 20 years ago. @@chenholing8620 Could you explain to us your POV ? Ok Steven was not a flawless victim before the eyes of many people because he was having a relationship with a minor and in these days, it could be considered as a pure case of grooming. It's part of the problem of Steven's engagement. He should've listened to his close friends, and he should've been more careful with the person who got married with. They clearly didn't know each other and Evelyn was looking for money, social advancement and the prestige that comes from being with a wealthy English boyfriend. I don't even know how it's possible the fact that he didn't see that coming. However, I have seen photos of Margaret with their children and indeed they are in the best hands. As far as you could see in the social networks, Jessica and Joshua, have been studying and doing their best to find surpassing themselves; Joshua had been considering being IT developer. I'm halfway through this. I have no idea if she killed him, she probably did. The point is, though such action can't be accepted or considered right in any way, the whole tone of this sickenens me. I mean, a much older guy goes to a cat house and poses as a savior, the one to rescue her? Excuse me? Rich people are so out off touch with reality and this woman seemed to have become one of them, it went over her head. But as Paulo Freire said, when one is not given the proper tools to be free, the opressed people's dream is to become like the opressor. It is wrong, but psychologically understandable. The exceptions are those who don't make these awful choices, not the other way round. She was a CHILD who was FORCED to prostitute due to poverty and lack of opportunities. She knew only a world of abuse and was seen as an object for years while still developing. nobody seeems to ask whether they had fallen in love, wanted to marry or have children or whether he 'bought' her, loving her or not, someone he could control and own and she saw no way out. You can 'rescue' a girl like that without paying the money that make these places exist. You could still give her and her family money and opportunities without making her marry you and have children and leave her without nothing should she want a divorce. he made 60k but gave her 1k. even though they say they gave her family money, clearly they lacked tons of things that they not only had but could buy again. Maybe, once she had her basic needs taken care of and lived a normal life she truly fell in love with someone, but was trapped. I also understand how hard it is for an illiterate person without any work exp be able to go to college and competitive in the market, let alone make enough to help family and keep a good life standard. There are many things wrong with this story. Yes, what she did was wrong but we should ALSO point a finger at our society, sexism, capitalism, monogamy and re examine how things work. Maybe if she had more opportunities in life, she would be more attached to other people, she wouldn't need money like that and it wouldn't even cross her mind to kill to get out of a marriage.

i am glad to see yourself and wendy, understand what is real. nobody goes to angeles city, unless you are going for sex tourism. the relationships formed are for the most part one sided, with money being the controlling factor.many men deny this to themselves, but it is true. from evelyns point of view, she has never had an education,so she would never feel an equal.so in turn she will exercise her control, through allowance (budget) this alone will give her status, and even position in her community, and family(part of her allowance will go back to her family, normally). i could go on,but believe me the poverty, and lack of education are terrible, and i sincerly hope it gets better for these people.i have travelled a lot,and these people(for the most part) are some of the best i have ever encountered. bot there are times when you see what happens there you are sad to your heart.

In that video you can see at the pool there was many other women so much more prettier than this girl he married. I have a feeling he was just blinded and maybe it was just infatuation not really love for him. Men should always remember to be careful of Philippine Women and Thai women. This story made my heart so heavily burden for these two diff mothers. Though i am a Filipina, why didn't i feel any sincerity in Evelyn's grief for her husband, there's lack of weight. And behind her words, tears and actions definitely hiding something that will really shock the world. The ambition, love of money and wealth made an innocent island girl into a monster. She totally lost it. She lost her fear of God and even sanity. I thought at first she was fortunate, for she had the chance to help her old poor parents, but at the end, she lost everything, including her good husband who played as angel to her from the very beginning and so her kids now. But it's good to know that Ms Margarets will bring them up, they are in good hands. May God protect these two kids.

I have to agree. Evelyn was a product of circumstances beyond her control mainly poverty and being more or less forced into prostitution. However, that doesn't excuse what she did. In many ways she hit the jackpot. When confronted about the money being stolen she had to pay it back and either get a job or go to college which he could have paid for anyways so that if things didn't work out, she would still be able to get some opportunities for herself without having to return to her old life. Instead, she threw it in his face. It's also clear from her body language that she did not care that her husband was killed or what happened to her kids. What she did was still her choice and she still needed to be punished for what she did.

I don't know why he would marry a 17 year old kid anyways. Would he be dating/marrying a 17 yr old teenager at 27 in England and have everyone's support there? She's obviously going to change as she grows up and gets to be in her 20s, then change even more when she's in her 30's. Did he think she wouldn't? I don't care where you live, marrying a teenager is probably not a very good idea.

Its obviously Mike, the business partner, who is the murderer. He knew the gunman only by the eyes, when it was supposedly 11pm and he was awaken from sleep? Margaret bought the guilty conviction of Evelyn. Paid off Evelyn’s relatives, police, maybe the judge. The documentary said it plainly and clearly. Thats how margaret can still be so “classy”, a grieving mother would tear off Evelyn’s hair at least, Margaret just smirked.

For someone earning $5k a month a rice pot was probably $15!!! That boy was a mamas boy, that mama was keeping an eye on them a lil too much..I mean who goes along on yr child's honeymoon for heavens sake... Worse part..she looked so happy she got rid of her.. much more than she showed grieve for losing her son!, that woman was off..

Totally agree. And the reason her relatives were against her because they were jealous of her and they they probably got money out of it. I don't believe this conviction at all. She maintained her innocence till the end. And not everyone grieves the same way, so if her mother in law thought she wasn't crying enough then she shouldn't mention it. Also there's no hard evidence in this case. It's all He said-She said.

"On July 17, 2002, Steven and Michael worked until around ten o'clock in the evening at the principal office of JC Software in Makati. At about 10:45 p.m., they headed to their rented apartment. Steven proceeded to his room, did some computer work, then went to sleep. At about 11:30 p.m., Michael went to the airport to fetch his girlfriend Jennifer Castillo (Jennifer), who was then arriving from Hong Kong. Michael and Jennifer returned to the apartment at one o'clock in the morning of July 18, 2002. They went to bed a short moment thereafter.6 At around two o'clock in the morning, Jennifer told Michael that a person seemed to be moving and flashing a light outside their room. Suspecting that the person outside the room was Steven, and that the latter was just trying to play a practical joke on them, Michael inquired "What are you doing tonight?" Instead of Steven answering back, three men with drawn handguns suddenly entered their room. These three individuals were later positively identified during the trial to be Arnold Adoray (Arnold), Alexander Dagami (Alexander), and accused-turned-state-witness Robin Butas (Robin). Arnold, whose gun was aimed at Michael, asked, "Ito ba? Ito ba?" Alexander thereafter grabbed Jennifer by the hand and locked her inside Michael's bathroom. After taking Michael's keys, wallet, and cellular phone, the three men proceeded to Steven's room.7 Upon seeing the then sleeping Steven, Arnold fired four consecutive shots upon the former, hitting the latter at the back. The three men then hurriedly left the house.8 After he was sure that Arnold, Alexander and Robin were no longer inside the apartment, Michael immediately went to Steven's room. There, Michael saw the lifeless body of Steven. After checking Steven's pulse, Michael administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the former's chest but he no longer made any response.9 Thereafter, Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel arrived at the scene of the crime; then an ambulance took Steven's body to the Makati Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival..." www.chanrobles.com/scdecisions/jurisprudence2008/dec2008/gr_178198_2008.php

This is a sad story but unfortunately, this happens all the time. I think I heard about it from the news when it happened. The unfortunate thing about cases like these is that most of these girls are from poverty stricken areas, far away from the city, less educated and their mindset is totally different from a normal girl of their age. Foreign men should understand that these girls are working in night clubs because they are driven by fast money. They want quick and large buck. They are not the type who will stick with you longer than you want them to. They've done that - the reason they flee their provinces. However, there are also exceptions where couples stay longer than 5 years. In my opinion - young girls + older men is not a recommended formula. I admire the mother for her tenacity and patience. And being a mother like her, I feel for her loss. Its almost a decade now, I am sure the children are now grown ups and happy with their grandmother. God bless you from the Philippines.

After watching this video several times, I have some doubts… The truth is that who knows what really happened & who’s the real killer… All I can say is that some people are evil & capable of doing the most horrendous things… What I see is a passive aggressive mother… I have watched this video several times… to suspect more of the business partner than his wife. It seems to me so amazingly strange that the killers will leave Mike, alive, if he was the only witness??? I assume the mother knows she is not really her sons killer…. A mothers intuition is highly strong, as strong as it is rejection, prejudices for the uneducated, daughter-in-law without virtue & honor… Think about it… In this story is not only the cultural barrier, but also social economic stratus, the kind of work she was in before marrying is more than enough to never accept her. I assume the mother felt highly embarrassed of having a daughter-in-law like her… We usually believe what we want to believe. Things aren’t always as they seem. What A TERRIBLY SAD STORY. Poor children they have lost both of their parents.
