I think Lamarr and Amstell are great in different ways

i would half agree lol. Amstell was very good for sure but Lamarr was the master. Lamarr thinks faster and comes up with funnier gags and has more wit than Amstell, imo anyway :P

I remember watching this when it was broadcast and literally laughing/cheering. Lamarr was genius and that little tosser should have realised early on that you cannot beat a professional comedian, especially when as a regular host the audience will always be on his side! Lamarr was the best and Buzzcocks is pointless without him.

i miss old buzzcocks, its was an actual music quiz with a cutting edge. its now the a slightly rude version of the one show
@MythicSuns Жыл бұрын
The fact that your comment was from 10 years ago surprised me. The only thing I'll give credit to with new Buzzcocks is that the new opening credits sequence is actually pretty good, just a shame the show feels bland. I see a lot of people like to blame it on political correctness but to me that just feels like a rubbish excuse, especially since old school NMTB was perfectly capable of being hilarious without being offensive, even by today's standards. For example: this part of the episode where Bradley Walsh and Simon Amstell were guests was hilarious. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHO7mnSPnaehY9U
@shank8966 Жыл бұрын
@@MythicSuns I agree everything is blamed on PC, but the thing with buzzcocks was it was never non-pc they just bantered with people and if they couldn’t take it they should get a better booking agent. I just think they don’t insult people anymore and the shows gotten older and just lost it’s edge and doesn’t want to lose booking

***** simon may not have been as good as lamarr but i'd take him over the current load of hosts who are either there to promote themselves or just plain and simply aren't that funny. honestly at the moment it just feels like the show is being hosted by generic radio DJs

***** i'd forgotten they'd done that (shows how much of an impact he had) to be honest rhod is just a bad comedian with a clever promoter
@MythicSuns9 жыл бұрын
Happydude Hemmings one of the issues with never mind the buzzcocks which is probably why it's now on the way out is that it's become so scripted and the hosts have barely any experience. honestly every episode after simon left just felt so predictable. it just became a bunch of comedians and wannabe comedians (including clueless singers) trying to work off pretty much nothing. where as with simon or mark everyone on the show seemed to be more like best mates making each other laugh
@thedaveastator79398 жыл бұрын
+Ben Knight (KnightVision) I love the ones with Frankie Boyle as host, he kicked ass. Though of course the criterion of expertise in musical trivia isn't there. Which is a stupid criterion by the way, it's totally unnecessary for the show to be fun.
@thedaveastator79398 жыл бұрын
It got axed as a result of ratings. It was the low ratings that were caused by the show losing some of it's lustre. Which in turn was partially due to the changes in the personalities who featured as permanent fixtures in the show's format and partially this was an inevitability of time. Knowledge of music wasn't that important, you may have really liked the music but unless you can make a case that it's general success was caused by Lamarr's musical knowledge then it's just a meaningless opinion. You could probably conduct a survey of people who remember the show and ask them how much expertise they reckon Mark had. I can't imagine the results you'd get would be consistent. Reason being that Mark was great because he was sarcastic, rude and quick-witted.

People were well tired of him by this point, I don't think Lamarr was being harsh at all, and didn't attack him personally. I always remember this episode whenever I watch the one that had Bill Oddie in it, it was horribly painful to watch. It needed Lamarr to yell at him to stfu & stop being tedious.
