@usedusermoser4 жыл бұрын

Sickkkkkkkkk. Screaming distorted lead guitar. If this isn't the fastest way to channel our fallen Eddy Van Halen (RIP), I'm not sure what is. Drop the Friktion in a combinator with the Scream 4 distortion. Set Friktion to Hybrid Fretless / pluck and set the Scream 4 to Distortion. Then experiment with the Vibrato and the Glide on the Friktion along with the Scream's P1, P2, and Body knobs. Even the Scream's Auto knob (auto-wah) is awesome. I've been searching for this for a long time. The Harmonics on the Friktion is also insane.

How is Reason Studio NOT the most Creative DAW of them ALL?!!!! 😲
@PhylaMedia4 жыл бұрын
Because bitwig exists. Try out the grid. This is where creativity lives.
@ButterflyCrash4 жыл бұрын
@@PhylaMedia Wrong. DAWs are there to support your creativity. For you it's Bitwig, for many users it's Live, for me and others it's Reason.
@PhylaMedia4 жыл бұрын
Butterfly Crash , the comment was how is reason not the most creative DAW. Yes the semi modular nature of reason is creative from the aspect of the daw. The grid is very creative. The devs at bitwig gave users a playground. Node base synthesis that works with bigwigs modularity is pretty damn creative. Sure the rest of bitwig is a rehash of what ableton has been doing. But Reason hasn’t added an original feature in quite a while. And don’t even say players. I don’t want to automate making music. Reason has been trying to catchup with the other DAWs for years. And with the last few updates, they’ve gotten desperate for more users, implementing features that abandon their core users and attract those of other DAWs. If reason continued to be creative and innovative they never would have lost the users they are trying to get back.
@ButterflyCrash4 жыл бұрын
@@PhylaMedia I get where you're coming from. But still, your creative workflow may not be like others' creative workflow and I think we know it was a rhetorical question (it's a comment about Reason on a Reason video). Btw, the node based approach may be on a modern level, but it's not new. Just think of NI Reaktor. Personally I'm not interested in that too much. For me it's a creativity blocker. I just want to make music my way and I've always found my way back to Reason, because of it's compact and modular nature and the way it simulates an "endless" rack. Don't get me wrong, Bitwig is super cool and it's your favorite DAW, that's perfect - you found what you were looking for. And just like you and me any other artist has to find it on their own.

@@PhylaMedia Where feedback loops are restricted to the bufer size lol , iow you can't build phasers or karplus strong algoritms in the the grid becasuue of this restriction You need a 1 unit sample feedback for algortims that rely on feedback ( like filters , phasers etc...) , thank god there is serious software like reaktor and max msp

Congratulations for the fantastic work you did in Fraktion. The UI is truly intuitive and easy to use. Although I have a question which can become also a suggestion. Is there any way to change the scales in microtonal modes? For people like me (we are millions) who produce western music as well as world / ethnic this addition could be a fantastic tool in our hands. An instrument so expressive like this I found it's really a shame to stay limited inside the borders of the western music living out the rest of the globe.

I like it. However, having bought individual REs from Reason in the past only to have them become a part of the mainline Reason/Suite a year or two later makes me hesitant to buy another individual RE... I don't want to end up paying twice for something in a future upgrade.
@hamtramckchronicles4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you still get the use of it while it's not a part of the Suite. Reason studios pricing structure is very fair. I own Suite 11. Suite 11 has several instruments in it that I bought when they were individual paid RE's. Am I upset that they bundled instruments that I paid for into Suite 11? No, because I still got to use them for all that time that they were NOT a part of any suite. The Reason Studios Value for Money is among the highest in the music industry considering what you get for that money. The only other company that comes close is Native Instruments IMHO.
@BenedictRoffMarsh4 жыл бұрын
If you have all/enough of those things you don't need to be in the Suite path, just use the Reason Normal path.

@kingpinronin92234 жыл бұрын
It is my main DAW, for sure, but, because of this uncertainty, I go with VSTs before REs. If I'm on the fence about purchasing an RE, I'll just wait to see if it will be part of suite in the next update or so. I'm not disparaging Reason as a product, but... Been burned a few times in purchases, so, this one can wait.

@@kingpinronin9223 I'm with you, but man, Fiiktion looks like it's on another planet in terms of having a string instrument that you can play that's really convincing. For the most part, I can;t stand any samplers for strings. I just find they all sound so wooden and lacking in any vitality. I've not bothered going from 10 to 11 yet, but I'm also unsure I can resist this thing given the amount of real time controls you have and its sonic properties.

Reason's core tools and UI for sequencing, locating, and organizing string instruments and patches has remained mostly ignored for years now. Yet here we are with another instrument for sale. But then the launching of Ableton in this video instead of Reason. A DAW I don't own that Reason is implying be used for sequencing. Who knows why I've seldom looked up any Reason tutorials, lol. I guess because adulting and therefore not a ton of free time to investigate my hobby of making noises to much of a useful degree. So, now I think I have a less vague idea of what a "Combinator" is. Now for clarifying to myself why a couple of the racks are seemingly redundant mixers and audio channels, and why would I need them, when there's already a fantastic SSL desk sim right there. This strings synth looks great. I'm not even into strings, but I'm now GASing for it, go figure. I did work out what the "players" are, and am stunned with their usefulness. I need to get the "chords and scales" one. What havoc I could make while dialing in random settings just to see how whack things can get, lol.
