I’ve been an Evanescence fan since 2003, have been to 10 of their concerts, 9 front row & met Amy & the band at a meet & greet in 2012 (I won a contest). Aside from being a vocal powerhouse she’s the most down to earth, humble person. She’s used to praise but still acted almost embarrassed but honored when I told her what her music meant to me. I respectfully asked if I could put my arm around her shoulder for a picture & she smiled, grabbed my hand & pulled it around her waist. She’s so tiny my hand was on her stomach, lol. She’s a great artist & all around person. 👍🏻

Faezeh _ds Haha. It’s still been a few years since I’ve seen them live though. I missed the tour they did with the full orchestra but have seen it online & it looks like it was amazing. I’m lucky, because the few performers I’ve met (Amy Lee, Shirley Manson (of Garbage) & Gwen Stefani (when she toured with No Doubt in 2009/10 I believe) they were all great. I’ve heard of people meeting their idols & it going badly so I’m glad that’s never happened to me!

Gigi L Ha. Not really. With Amy, I paid an annual $30 to join the official Evanescence fan club (doesn’t exist anymore/it’s free) & my husband entered me into a meet & greet contest as a surprise when he saw they were having a meet & greet drawing in every city. They even let my friend come with me (even though she didn’t win she was just going to the concert with me). With Gwen/No Doubt I did the same thing, paid to join a fan club, paid extra for pit seats & got their 8 hours early! With Shirley Manson/Garbage we got there 10 hours early (not kidding) so we could be in the front row. Shirley, if she’s feeling up to it will often stay after the show (this was a smaller show in a bar/club) & walk around talking to fans. I mean, I know these women aren’t “Madonna” famous but I adore them, they have lots of fans & they’re millionaires. But they still manage to stay humble. Shirley even felt bad about having to cancel the original show date in Houston (because apparently Houston is one of Garbages top selling cities, they have a lot of fans in Texas), so at the rescheduled show she brought out a binder full of ALL her songs lyrics & took requests from the audience for over an hour longer than the original show. She would sing whatever songs fans asked for & it was great. Because with her long career & *many* songs she’d sometimes forget the words & just ad lib. Lol 😅 It was awesome. 🤘🏻

The song was popular when my mom lost her battle with cancer. Most days I was at the hospital with her watching her dissolve into this person that weighed 85 pounds. It was very hard losing her. When Amy went "wow" to her band, you have to remember, she was 21 (or 22 at that time) and they were in their first year of breaking through. I have loved Evanescence since their debut. This is such a huge song, I am always so impressed at Amy Lee's piano playing and how the boys stay quiet until that one part. It becomes so powerful. The piano is actually a percussion instrument (the hammers hit strings) amazing song driven by percussion.
@guiguspi5 жыл бұрын
I would have to disagree. A bass or a guitar are also played by hitting its strings. They're all strings instruments: guitar, bass and piano.
@luipars4 жыл бұрын
The piano is without a doubt a string instrument because it's sounds are generated from the vibration of the strings. However, it is unique in that it's played like a percussion instrument, which makes it incredibly difficult (nearly impossible for the normal person) to play it and sing at the same time.

You're absolutely spot-on right about the purpose of singing- how it's all about connection. I believe singing is connecting with one's self, when writing and singing lyrics and melodies...and it's about connecting with one's band and how singers have to have a connection to every beat and note in a symbiosis of effort and collaboration...and how singing can connect one to his/her audience and the reactions and emotions they express. Whenever I sing, I have such a strong longing to be able to have a band and connect with them, as well as connecting with an audience. It's a passionate love affair like no other. I miss the times when I used to perform, the great love I connected with and felt from others, and I remember it was the most confident I've been in my whole life. This was a song played at my sisters (she’s not biologically my sister, but I’ve known her 20 years and she’s pretty much my older sister) kids funeral a few years ago. This song will ALWAYS and forever give me chills. The emotion behind it, her voice perfectly capturing that emotion too. This song will be one of my all time favourites ❤️

Beautiful ballad, but to me, "Hello" is the most amazing ballad ever written by Ev, probably. With incredible darkness.

When this came out I was around 12 and it made me cry. I had no clue what the song was about, it was just the sheer emotion in Amy's voice.

I had the privilege of seeing Amy Lee & Evanescence in person in Chicago many years ago. I still remember how amazing it was. I actually didn't listen to my CDs of Evanescence for months afterward, because Amy Lee's voice was simply so extraordinary in person, the CD couldn't capture her performance and was a letdown in comparison. I wanted to hold the memory of how beautiful the concert was as long as possible, without the CD recording interfering with that. May sound strange, but it's the only live performance that I ever felt was so far above recorded versions.

Wow. Dang I'm glad you did this song Miss Rebecca. That woman... What an absolute angel! She has an amazing voice and she's clearly beautiful, as beside the point as that may be. Amy Lee is really something special. By the way, you needn't ever apologize for feeling the music. I don't trust musicians that can stand stock still and look bored when there's good music in the area. I certainly wouldn't trust a vocal teacher that could. I come here to see you being you, ma'am. You're extremely good at it. Keep up the good work.

I truly appreciate this song . When I first acquired the album and heard this song I believe I listened to it for a week straight. The change from the piano to when the drums and electric guitar come in to me is indescribable. Amy's voice is otherworldly and so full of feeling.

She's just gotten better over the years ( in my opinion). This is a very old performance you should check out a live performance from their most recent tour. I love this band!!! Evanescence is amazing, they helped me through some tough times in high school and beyond. The way she connects with her fans and the emotion she has while singing is amazing. I will always be a fan. Thank you for listening to them. Great video! Also, You should check out The Lone Bellow. I think you would like them.
