Nice job. The Number One has a special place in my heart.

The lines on your finish pass are from taking to light of a cut with a carbide insert. As a general rule you need to have a depth of cut equal to 2/3 of the nose radius of the insert. So if you have an insert with a .008 nose radius you can take a .005 finish pass. Which would actually be .01 on the cross slide. Great video I really enjoy watching your work and I learn a lot.

I thought it had something to do with that. Fascinating how that occurs. I have been experimenting with HSS inserts and they are definitely leaving a nicer finish.

Very nice. I had a #1 in 7mm mag converted to a 6mm CM by PacNor. The original wood was screwed up, so I fitted, bedded, and finished a synthetic stock set.

I wouldn’t call 7rem to 7prc an upgrade. You do great work by the way. I love my ruger#1

Are the sight base pins pointless if they don’t fit tightly in the barrel? Seems the fasteners would then be doing all the recoil mitigation.

Probably. I thought it would be better than leaving empty holes in the base. Thanks for watching and for engaging the channel!!
