The front lower cylinder head retaining nut at 3:20 keeps coming loose for me every few hundred miles causing oil seepage where the they meet. Blue thread lock isn’t doing it and taking the pipe off to retighten it cause a wrench won’t fit otherwise is getting annoying, any recommendations? Thanks for the video

Haven’t had a situation like that. I’m using a nylon locking nut, I know the OEM has a metal locking nut. Could possibly be that the head is warped. Mine before the rebuild was seeping all around the head gasket

Hello! At 22:02 what is the purpose of that part? Because I have a DR650 too, and I don't know it.

Thats the electric de-compressor. Suzuki fitted them to all RS models that had an electric starter. Haven’t looked into SE models if they had them also. The kick start versions has a manual hand lever on the handlebars that pulls the cable.

The reason I ask is my timing chain broke havnt took the top head off yet ,i can spin it clockwise and it rotates fine but when I go back the direction of normal rotation it lock up again I'm thinkin I mite of lucked out and it locked up on the way down and didn't bend my valves ,heard I can do the timing chain without pulling the head I was just wondering how much you had to put in it parts wise if I should just tear it down or put a new chain and tensioner on it and seeing what it does

@@htchd1htchd149 the video description has the Suzuki internet address where I ordered all of the OEM parts. If you have been lucky and the valves didn’t hit the piston, then that would be great. You can see the consequences of valves hitting the piston on the red DR650 series. I would suggest taking a endoscope and checking the piston for signs of contact. Keep in mind that the the broken chain is just sitting down on the sprocket, it can catch one of the sprocket at any time and stop it from spinning. Just take off the right hand cover and see how is it sitting there. After you take the chain out, inspect the piston top with an endoscope, make sure that it spins freely and the valves are closed. Measure the compression. Inspect if the chain falling into the block hasn’t caused any damage. If all of those things are good then get the guides, chain and gaskets to put everything back.
