I stumbled upon Aron Ra a little while ago towards the beginning of these genesis apologetics rebuttals and I absolutely love these. I used to be a strong Catholic and we would watch strange videos similar to this in religion class. It always felt weird watching them and sometimes I could pick up on the improper ways of thinking from them. But in the class I always had to agree and think that they were highly intelligent. This series has really opened my eyes to thinking critically and how circular reasoning works. I freaking love you Aron, I wish you all the best. Beautiful people here.

This was one of the greatest overkills of all time. Honestly, I kept waiting for the apologists to come up with something more interesting, but every point they seemed to be trying to make ended up in the same pond "and the Bible says it, so it has to be true". Another thing - the megalithic sites in France, England, Scotland and Ireland date back five- to six-thousand years ago, in the Neolithic. Strangely, there is no evidence that the stone structures were damaged by a flood, or that the people who lived in these countries at that time drowned. Furthermore, no water damage is found in the European caves that contain Paleolithic art up to 40,000 years old, nor have the Australian Aboriginal paintings that are equally old been damaged by water. And the famous bristlecone pine called "Methuselah" in the White Mountains of Nevada has been alive for nearly 6,000 years. How did it survive the Flood??

Recent life experiences have made me realize one reason religious beliefs live on is that it is relatively easy for children to understand. We have neighbor kids who are friends of our kids that have very religious parents and thus they are learning all the classic religious tropes. Some of that gets repeated to my kids. These are all kids that are Elementary and younger. When my kids then ask me who were the first humans, I find it much more difficult to explain that there were no "first humans" and our species evolved over millions of years. They are just too young to really grasp that idea. It is much easier for our neighbors to tell their kids the fairy tale of the first humans Adam and Eve who were created by an all loving God. By the time you get to be an adult though you should realize it's just a fairy tale.

About 9 minutes into the video. I am sorry to say that Aron is confusing two historical events here when he mentions pope Gregory (13th, incidentally) and the presumed year Jesus was born. Jesus's birth was (mistakenly) calculated in the 6th century by Dionysius Exiguus. Pope Gregory 13th, in 1582 (Aron got the century right) reformed the calendar, but did not change the presumed year of start of the calendar. Gregory's reform of the calendar (which was due to very sensitive astronomic reasons, nothing religious in it) took 10 days out of history (namely October 5th-14th 1582, inclusive). Oh, and the year of Jesus's birth has NEVER been called "zero", but 1. The number zero appeared in Europe relatively late.
