Hi Guys, a tuna sandwich is a simple thing, isn't it? As per July 4, there are 773 comments, what to add, what not to add, waaaaay too much mayo, comments like "You're not eating it, so WHY are you complaining!" or "Shut your mouth" and on it goes. Let me tell you what I do: I watch the video, look at the list of ingredients, read the recipe (if there is any), read some comments (that's the fun part), check what I have in the fridge, decide what I want or don't want in my tune sandwich and then go shopping. Recipes are indications, not orders, nobody has to follow them religiously. Trust me, KZbin won't ban you if you don't. And people have different tastes. But please keep on commenting, it's fun to read.

I make my own mayonnaise. I put a can of tuna in a bowl, about a couple of teaspoons of mayonnaise (I don't like it doing the Australian crawl in a sea of mayonnaise), a chopped up dill pickle, a squeeze of lemon, grated carrots, some grated purple onion, roasted chopped or sliced almonds, a little ground pepper and a small pinch of paprika. I put this either on a romaine or butter lettuce leaf or two or three, OR on a slice of homemade Sourdough bread. Yummers!!
@sylviacarlson35613 жыл бұрын
I forgot to add........sometimes I put the Sourdough in the oven on 375 degrees with whatever cheese strikes your fancy........I love Cheddar, Pepper Jack, or Swiss, then I add the tuna concoction.

Looks good! I always drain and also rinse the tuna while still in the can to get rid of excess saltiness. A dash of celery salt adds critical celery flavor if you don’t have fresh chopped celery at hand.
@royjohnson4652 жыл бұрын
Me too, we must think a like, I rinse the tuna in tap water after draining. Celery salt is much better than plain salt. ~But I also "NEVER" handle the bread & all the ingredients with my bare hands, I "always" use utensils and paper towels for eating with and preparation. (The reason I do not use so called rubber gloves is because I would also be touching everything around the kitchen with them too.) Because I am "not" going to touch the bread & sandwich ingredients with the "exact same bare hands" that I "also" touched the refrigerator door with, can opener, kitchen water tap, mayonnaise jar, mustard container, utensil drawer handle, kitchen cabinet doors, kitchen chair, etc.. It is unsanitary.

When it comes to mayonnaise, i use just about the whole bottle, or whatever type of mayonnaise container you buy from your local grocery store, depending on how much cans/tins of tuna you buy! Just for your understanding (cultural wise), i live in Scotland, so i don't know if the brands or products i buy to make tuna mayonnaise is the same from where others live in the globe, and it also depends on what brand your region sells, whether if it's good or garbage! Haha. By watching this video though, i have learned some new things on how i could make this, so thanks! ;)
@mikeh25203 жыл бұрын
I prefer sweet onions instead of shallots. I like a spoonful of lemon juice and a little balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing each time too. If you need to sweeten it up for kids put carrots into the food processor and add the results to the salad. I've come to prefer chopped green cabbage instead of lettuce and celery. It gives lots of crunch and extends the salad well. Crushed walnuts are excellent too. Avocado on top is great. Try adding rinsed capers if you want to experiment. I add them every time now. Tuna salad is one of those great things that you can keep trying different things in it and tasting it and adjusting it as you go along.

My mother use to put a bunch of English muffin halves on a baking sheet, then put a dollop of prepared tuna (mayo, onion, relish, etc), a slice of tomato and a slice of Swiss cheese on top, then she would bake until warm in the middle and melted on top. A little char on the cheese adds more flavor. Then she would put a dollop of yellow or Dijon mustard on top and serve as a meal for easy weeknight dinners.

I use chopped boiled eggs and sweet relish. But I also use celery seed instead of dill. But no lettuce

It's amazing that she's putting the same ingredients in that tuna salad that I plan to put in mine

Well it’s pretty much how most people make tuna salad. Next up how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Drained canned tuna, a diced boiled egg, some diced onion, some diced celery, a dollop of mayo, squirt of mustard, and a sprinkle or two of Salad Supreme! Good to go! Been making the same tuna samich for 50 years! LOL (This actually makes 2 samiches!)

I've been using celery for over 50 years but I think I'll try the chopped dill.

What's salad Supreme?
@SoapinTrucker2 жыл бұрын
@@janiceburns5089 look in your favorite store's spice section, it's a blend of stuff, and definitely adds flavor to a green salad, especially if you add tomatoes! 😀👍

We had the best tuna sandwiches and I asked the server what was in them. He said super finely cut jalapeños and super finely cut red bell peppers. I made some and they were great ! Blessings and happy Valentines DAY from California. 📝✂️🖍💌📮

It sounds odd but I bet crushed potato chips are good. I know that eating potato chips along with a tuna sandwich is really good.
