I found a huge difference when I put cameras up in the house. I don’t even keep them turned on most of the time but the thought that his behavior could be seen by others stopped a lot of it:

1. Examime irrational beliefs 2. Enlist supporters 3. Acknowledge and own how some of my parenting was unhelpful 4. Preparing an announcement 5. Daily expectations for things important to the kid My ADHD self needed a notes page. 😅 Love this and will be implementing. Strongly considering the membership too. Thank you for the heads up.

I continue to find hope in your videos and have referred many families I work with to your channel. My dilemma is a granddaughter with significant trauma/abandonment/adoption issues and behaviors that co-exist with ADHD. I spend a significant amount of time researching both of these topics and find that some elements of trauma-informed parenting contradict the information related to parenting a child with ADHD. How do parents and their support system parent a child with these complex issues??

As a parent who adopted an older child through the foster care system this is something that's very familiar to me. Almost any child who has has neglect in early childhood gets misdiagnosed with ADHD or autism because of their executive function, emotional regulation and social challenges. I think it's important to seek out evidence-based information on developmental trauma. Much of the "trauma-informed parenting" information out there is not evidence based at all, much of it is based on polyvegal theory which is a theory, not an evidence-based practice.

Thank you. Your videos are very helpful. My ADHD 9 year old has a very hard time being flexible. Would love to see a video on that topic. We cancel after school activities regularly because of tantrums and unwillingness to participate - even when he expects the activity. I try to stick to commitments and avoid canceling when he becomes angry because I don't want him to learn throwing tantrums is a way out. But giving in is much easier. Then all hell breaks loose despite me being calm and collected. It sucks because he won’t experience camaraderie and team friendships (canceled hockey, karate, etc). We feel damned if we do and damned if we don't. This is hard.
